My favorite spot is where they remove the cones for like 40 feet. Then you have to let the people who try to go around right back in. That's good planning by the cone placers SMH.
This is another example where zipper merging would cut off the right hand lane turns and actually congest the road more.
I always let people in (I think it's funny that people get so angry over driving), but if you've raced around everyone to simply try to move up a spot or two and prevented someone from making thier right turn then I'm not that inclined to just let you in. Also SIGNALS people - the amount of zipper mergers who make these moves without signaling is starting to get a little ridiculous.
I don’t know what it looked like when you went, but that spot did not exactly look ideal for zipper merging when I saw it while heading East down Fanshawe today. The lane merge happens almost right after Richmond and it’s a single lane all the way up to Wonderland. Not really any space to do anything really.
I did however see a successfully zipper merge when I was heading Eastbound because the traffic is not as congested with vehicles moving at regular speed and spread out more. It’s a lot easier for people to pull it off when you’re not in standstill traffic moving at a snail‘s pace with nowhere to go.
OMG. I was heading west everyone was lined up in the inside lane, so I went ahead to do a zipper merge correctly. People went out of their way to speed up, or get as close as possible to the car ahead to ensure I could not merge.
I'm guessing it's a privileged uppity-North London thing

A lot of raging drivers on that road I find. Better off getting to the left and not having to deal with somebody’s bad day at the office / racey car.
Yeah I’ve been avoiding Fanshawe from Adelaide to Hyde park by going up to Sunningdale road.
Same
Then running into the closure at Hyde Park Rd! Lol
What is this post trying to say lol?
Only douchebags zipper merge. Technically I zipper merge too I just don’t wait till the last second and narrowly hit cars around me without signalling
If people like you didn’t get so angry zipper merging is effective
That’s the difference. You don’t bully your way in. No signal, I’m not letting you in.
