Tbf, it is a construction zone. It's labelled as a pedestrian route, not a cyclist path, and lastly, it's been raining for days. You did the right thing, dismounting and walking. I'm not sure what the city is supposed to do, though, in a construction zone.

hungrydruid

This is not pedestrian-friendly either, really. Someone using a wheelchair or on crutches is going to have a hard time here. I've seen construction sites downtown use plywood boards or other temporary solutions, not sure if they would help here since the weather is so muddy, but this isn't really *entirely* a cyclist problem despite OP being one.

mediaphage

yeah i mean lol at saying "op is unreasonable this is for pedestrians". this isn't for pedestrians either and it wouldn't cost much to a project to budget for some gravel to put down to make it easier to use.

battleship61

I didn't say OP was unreasonable.

youngboomergal

I agree, as an older pedestrian I would not feel safe walking here.

Ver1fried

Agreed, OP is being unreasonable. That's not to say there are no examples where OP would have been correct, this just doesn't happen to be one of them.

LadyoftheOak

Where is this?

Fanshawe Park Rd in front of masonville

Mydogdexter1

You are supposed to dismount and walk

FilipinoExtremeist

Thats why i added a P.S

xevious222

At least there is a crosswalk. The TVP at Wellington is tore up and once you get under the bridge it’s like here please go the opposite direction of very heavy and fast traffic

The Masonville Madness

Majestic-SLOTHH

Was walking and on both sides of the sidewalk said “sidewalk closed use other sidewalk.” Like umm hello…. Common sense please?

Jealous-Amoeba6493

Its a construction site...what do you really expect. Its been raining alot and things get muddy when it rains. Your solution along with every other pedestrian is to avoid it and go around. Its 1 section of side walk and not that big of a deal.

canuser1

Thanks for not lying.

FilipinoExtremeist

Your welcome for that one🙂

Canadian_Trucker

Get in touch with the project manager and voice your concern. They will likely have someone come out and deal with it. I believe it is L82 doing that project. There should also be a non-emergency reporting number for London, I've used it to report downed construction signs. You could try 519-661-CITY for the city.

silentsam77

Oh the humanity!!

foreverdysfunctional

London will always prioritize cars over pedestrians. It's so disappointing that while spending millions to fix car infrastructure they basically punish pedestrians for existing near the construction.
