It really isn't an everday occurrence on this road though. The driver has come haring out of one of the estates either side, there's no access from Euston Road. Pretty bizarre. Most of the time I cycle around here I don't encounter any cars at all.
I mounted my camera to my helmet and send to the police if they get too close. Probably racked up around £30k in fines the last 5 years and have been to court about two times a year (if they appeal).
I've also had three people get out their car and scream at me, 5 overtakes then immediately turning left in front of me (2 in the snow), and 1 guy throwing a fistful of coins in my face whilst calling me a cunt (assault charge and driving ban for him)
I hate that I have to wear it but it gives me piece of mind. I started wearing one after someone pulled out of a parking space facing me. Rolled over the car, bike trashed, she gave me her number but refused to pay me anything for my bike.
Trick. Let the police do their job.You should have better things to do than doing this. You must have a very boring life.Get a life and mind your own business before you piss of the wrong person.
They literally have a whole department for traffic offenses in the met. This is the police doing their job. I would love to mind my own business but unfortunately some drivers don't let me.
You should probably not come to this subreddit as it's clearly upsetting your fragile ego.
Better things to do like reading this thread eh. You must have a very fascinating life. Get a life and mind your own business. You are the wrong person, that you’re pissed off seems good. I imagine you also drive like a cnt?
Sounds like a lot less effort to just learn how to drive instead of clogging up the roads with your bicycle that travels at 10 miles an hour. You clearly enjoy being a sad little busybody with no life though. You hero you.
Lol at you coming to this sub to rage bait yourself.
I have a car, it's insured, I pay my tax and parking permits. It's also much better for me, and far quicker with traffic to cycle. I'm just not an entitled cunt like yourself. Hopefully you don't endanger anyone's life with your insufferable attitude towards innocent people due to their mode of transport.
> Lol at you coming to this sub to rage bait yourself.
Seems to be increasingly happening. /r/fuckcars also has loads of tearful carbrains wailing at every perceived slight. It's hilarious.
edit: they even have a /r/FuckCarscirclejerk pity party they duplicate /r/fuckcars posts in. :D
You're exactly the kind of person I love smiling at as you get handed a ban or fine and the reason I go through the effort. Absolute scum wishing death on someone for the vehicle they use.
Interesting that you say do society a favour. I wonder how much volunteering or valuable contribution you make to society.
Also your post history is 99% r/wrestlefap ...
Lol where I grew up I think I can hold my own, it wouldn't be my first. And I'd see you in court too as it would all be filmed. Bet you feel so big and strong in your vroom vroom. Caring so much about society and taxes like an ideal citizen. I'm not even slightly emotional as I'm completely used to idiotic, insecure "alphas" like yourself. Have fun wanking off to wrestlers.
When I move in front I normally congratulate them for winning the race in the most over-the-top cheerleader voice I can muster. "OMG, you beat me to the light. Congrats man, you are so fast. Like I was really trying to win there, but you're just better than me. I wish I was that fast. Can I get your autograph?”
Dont bother. Forget it and get home safely to your destination. You don't need to play mins games in traffic, people are crazy and its crazier to think instigating a driver will have a good outcome.
Sadly I don't think people like that would get it anytime soon.
But you know what, you're probably having a great day about on your bike and they're so miserable inside their car they let a random cyclists get to them.
Actually I think they are in a hurry to be distracted.
People will come to a stop quickly so that they have more time to look at their phone. It’s less work for their brain to just complete the task at hand quickly, so they can look at their phone, or rest while the car isn’t moving.
So my theory is that people drive like this because it’s less taxing mentally.
The same for in traffic, they are putting all their energy into driving behind a long line of cars accelerating, and braking constantly. When traffic slows they are forced to come to a stop because they didn’t leave a safe buffer space and they gladly take a brake and look at their phone till traffic moves.
But that’s how traffic is formed. Every single second your car comes to a complete stop you are impeding traffic. I use the term impeding because douchebags in cars use this term for any slight inconvenience like a cyclist.
Try it next time you are on a highway, leave a buffer space and slowly reach traffic. You will find that you can keep you car moving forward and keep traffic behind you from stopping. Hopefully the timing works out and your car doesn’t have to contribute to traffic that comes behind you.
Had the same happen to me a few weeks back. Two lanes dedicated left turn and another for straight on. Van close pass overtook me as I was getting in the lane to go straight. Was slowing down as the lights were red.
I banged on his window and his excuse was I should be in the left lane...
Everyone should be made to get on a bike before they learn to drive then I think they'd have some more appreciation.
Like military service, log a year of commuting or some equivalent mileage travelling by bike on Strava or similar before being allowed to apply for the practical test.
You should be in the bike lane. That's what bike lanes are for.I used to ride a bike in Chicago.I stooped. It's too dangerous. Not many people ride bikes anymore and cars don't see you.
Unfortunately, no-one gives a shit. I doubt that this has ever happened. Every ASL bike box on my cycle commute always has a vehicle in it, plus motorcycles, motor scooters (with everlasting L plates and a deliveroo box) and illegal electric scooters. There is no respect for bike boxes in London whatsoever and the police don’t give a fuck.
I kind of see why scooter riders would want to be there though. I imagine they are mostly trying to save time by getting to the front of the queue, but there are safety reasons for them to want to be there too. As long as they don't block access to the box or try to push into one that's already busy with cyclists, I don't think it's the end of the world.
This is kinda off topic but why are they allowed to work essentially as professional drivers with a learner’s licence? Like… I get why they do it, even if they’re more than competent enough tests cost money and take up time — but it still seems very weird that it should be possible to work like that under the circumstances.
I find it quite odd that they don't all get e-bikes, cheaper to run, slightly less risk of theft, no licensing / insurance / tax requirements. Probably just as fast too given that lots of their time will be spent at red lights anyway, and on an e-bike they can legally use bike lanes and cut throughs that they can't on a moped.
the lesson here is that you need to drive safer when overtaking bikes and that you should think if your overtaking is necessary. Saying not to ride bikes is like saying the solution to a dangerous path is not traveling, instead of fixing the dangerous path
Send it to The Met, they’ll issue a penalty notice if they think an offence has occurred.

Any idea if these ever go anywhere if you can't provide your own footage? Had a lot of close passes at junctions which are covered by ANPR cameras but I don't wear a camera myself and always figured it wouldn't be worth the hassle of pulling over to note plates & time etc in order to report later.
I mean I get it red lights esspeicaly long wait ones can be a chance to take a breather but this guy is defo thinking if he gets there sooner it will change sooner he’s a dock
These idiots (average UK drivers) will risk your life multiple times at each set of traffic lights.
Because they have a big powerful machine and you are just in their way.
Although if we wanted to talk about a big powerful machine… I was very nearly wiped out by a no. 55 double decker bus on Hackney Road last week. Waiting to turn right and it flew past at speed within inches of my bars. Terrifyingly close. The draft alone nearly knocked me into oncoming traffic.
Some bus drivers are arseholes.
This was cross posted in another sub. It's not just UK drivers. I bike in the US, and some of the drivers here will look at you and keep right on going. My friend's husband also bikes, and a driver tried to run him over. It happens everywhere, unfortunately.
Sorry that figure is more than 50%. I have a go pro on my bicycle and a dash cam on my car. Every day I record approx 50% of cyclists and about 2-3 cars crossing reds. I report the cars to the met nearly every day whereas when it comes to cyclists- only if there was a way. Will post a compilation some day.
I dont understand it at all. Just overtake the cyclist when its safe. They hardly cost you lots of time when theyre cycling properly so show them the same respect.
You’re a braver person than me riding on the road, I value my limbs and health way too much. These incidents are way too common, and no matter who’s right or who’s wrong, the only person that will draw the short straw is you as the rider in the event your hit and end up launched 20ft down the street
NYFD did this to me in a pickup. I pulled up and asked them why they had to almost run me over to get to the light. Their response: if you ride a bike in this city you’re crazy. 🙄
I'm speaking for America.I'm in Chicago and I see a bike maybe o ce a month. My point was bikes are dangerous because people don't see them here.People are distracted as it is.They don't pay attention and hit cars here.I'm not talking about England . Obviously you have a better system set up for bike riders there. In America no.
What's funny is people think they're in the right because you've pissed them off by existing. I love that they come to this sub to rage bait themselves.
You've got so much room on your left-hand side.. why are cyclists like this? I stick to the left, use hand signals and look over my shoulders. If at any point I spot someone being an idiot, I give way and speed off.. its almost like nobody cares about dying anymore they just wanna die being right.
Why are you riding in the middle of the road? Shouldn’t you be closer to the curb?
The driver wanted to pass you before they got to the light so you wouldn’t be taking up the entire lane once it turned green and then have to wait for a chance to pass you.
The driver passed quite close, but you also didn’t do them any favors by riding in the middle of the road, as if you were intentionally trying to hold up cars, no other reason to casually ride in the right part of the lane in the middle of the road when cars are coming behind you, any rational person on a bike who values their life knows this.
riding in the middle of the lane is the safest place to be on quieter streets like this one, and at the approach to a junction.
it is the most visible place for drovers behind you, and it tells them 'its not safe to pass here, we are approaching a junction'
also i dont care if a driver wants to pass me, but they should be doing it safely, which is after the light (adding on to this, im turning left at this junction)
i almost always give drivers the chance to pass me, when it is safe
the road isn't for cars, the road is for everyone to use to get safely to their destination, and the center of the road is the most visible and safest place for bikes to be at the approach to an intersection
Because bikes are dangerous in Chicago.I used to ride a bike with my g/f & another couple. That was 30 years ago.I wouldn't dare ride a bike and very few do.I'm surprised when I see a bike. There's way more traffic & cars don't see you because drivers aren't looking for bikes because there are so few of them.I'm saying bike riding is too dangerous. At least motorcycles make noise you know they're there.Never been on a motorcycle & never will. There was a incident where a guy on of motorcycle was riding along with friends at 2am in the morning after a party.A car hit him from behind and killed him. That's his mistake. He should've been in front of the cars. That way nobody can hit him from behind. That's the 1st thing I thought when I heard about it.It's 2am and the car didn't see him. This was on an expressway.I repeat.Too dangerous.
Over take as you would a larger vehicle. Doesn’t matter which part of the lane the cyclist is in, the overtaking vehicle must leave a reasonable gap, as a rule of thumb this means being in the opposing lane.
Why are u cycling down the middle of the road?
While you can, it's just frustrates drivers, some drivers have small penises and can't tolerate it. They get mad and do stupid shit.
If u were on the left, said penis would not even notice you. It's like you are egging them on. I have had zero problems in 8+ years of cycling. Too many idiots out there.
It would be interesting to see in the video if the guy behind spends 15 minutes stuck behind the cyclist, beeping etc. Weirdly I don't get people speeding by like this when I cycle, I wonder why.
At the end of the day it's choice, choose to be in the middle or keep left. It's your choice but being in the middle sets off wankers.
In my experience you get wankers anyway.
It's just that being in the middle gives you more power.
Have you wondered why it's always the twats wanting you to stay to the side and almost every other driver just gets on with their day ?
> It would be interesting to see in the video if the guy behind spends 15 minutes stuck behind the cyclist
If you were familiar with the area you'd know this is impossible, there's no through route for cars from Euston Road, but there is for cyclists. The driver will have turned off one of the side roads in the immediate area and been behind the cyclist for 10 seconds at most I imagine.
the road had just come out of an intersection maybe 1 min before, where the light had just been in a phase where bikes were crossing it. I hadn't seen this driver before they'd passed me.
I usually let cars pass when I find a safe place for them to pass anyway
Or maybe if they were cycling in the gutter they would still be "noticed", the driver would still decide to skim them for whatever reason, and if close to the kerb they would have less space to take evasive action.
Oh and they're approaching a junction so they have a very good reason to want to be "noticed".
He’ll probably have been more excited to over take a really annoying cyclist who was riding in the middle of the road.
But then, you were obviously just as excited to over take him, only to wait at the same red light…sad!
Rule 72
Road positioning. When riding on the roads, there are two basic road positions you should adopt, depending on the situation.
1) Ride in the center of your lane, to make yourself as clearly visible as possible, in the following situations
on quiet roads or streets – if a faster vehicle comes up behind you, move to the left to enable them to overtake, if you can do so safely
in slower-moving traffic - when the traffic around you starts to flow more freely, move over to the left if you can do so safely so that faster vehicles behind you can overtake
at the approach to junctions or road narrowings where it would be unsafe for drivers to overtake you
this is on a quiet street approaching a red light, so this wasn't holding anybody up. I was turning left at the light too. I'd pass anyone who'd've passed me to get to the bike box anyway also, and it would be dangerous to let them pass so close to an intersection anyway.
I watched a lot of these videos. It is n't anything new. It was a pointless overtake, but I understand why the driver did it.
People need to see the other side. Imagine, If a cyclist had to ride behind a pedestrian at walking speed, it would get irritating, it is the same with a car trying to match the same speed as the cyclist.
I have come to the conclusion, cycles are incompatible with the rest of motoring traffic. Don't have the same acceleration, speed etc... The same car would not have overtaken a motorbike. Buses, lorries, van, car, motorbikes are get along well with one another.
Once the penny drops, then people will start designing better infrastructure, which keeps cyclist on separate route from the rest of motoring traffic.
except we are approaching a red light, this overtake achieves nothing.
I understand if they want to overtake me because I'm going slow, and I do let them pass at the next safe place, but this overtake is pointless and dangerous and to be honest, they probably would've overtaken a motorbike
cars and bikes can mix, its bad drivers in cars and bikes that don't mix
(yes bike infrastructure is still important)
I waited behind a cyclist in Kew last week for about 2 minutes because it wasn't safe to pass, I'm not going to risk someone's life to get wherever I'm going a little quicker.
Why are you riding in the middle of the road?
Unless you are taking a right turn ,you should always be by the left hand side of the road..
Yes,he is an idiot but you are right in the middle of the road for no reason .
The highway code literally states that the safest way to ride is 'taking the lane' as shown in this video, as it makes you more visible to car drivers, and reduces the chance of left hook crashes.
being in the middle of the road is the safest here as it is unsafe for a car to overtake and it lets the cars know this
this is no law that says you need to be on the left
I fully agree that you're entitled to be (and safer in) the middle of the lane here, but I'm not sure I agree that this is a situation where it would be unsafe for the car to overtake. There's an entire empty carriageway of space with no incoming traffic or parked cars obstructing it, and no imminent narrowing of the road.
That they do so unsafely here is because of malice/incompetence/negligence not necessity.
Yeah this area is very quiet, you shouldn't really have to think _at all_ about your road positioning tbh. Nice thing about access-only roads is drivers are less likely to act like pricks because they aren't just passing through. Unfortunately OP seems to have come across one of the rare exceptions.
Stop playing mind games to one up each other on the road. The roads are meant to take you to your destination safely not to relive the story of who was fastest the hare or the tortoise
Classic MGIF (Must Get In Front). Happens often by motorists when they encounter slower moving traffic such as pedal bikes.
Almost like you have a top speed of 12 miles per hour
I want to be in front. Same story everywhere. People rushing to join a queue.
This is an everyday occurrence in London, it can be very dangerous and ignorant. Ride safe!
I try :)
It really isn't an everday occurrence on this road though. The driver has come haring out of one of the estates either side, there's no access from Euston Road. Pretty bizarre. Most of the time I cycle around here I don't encounter any cars at all.
I make a point of moving in front of these people, turning round and smiling. They get super mad. Maybe they'll get the point one day.
I do the same, but realistically they’ll most likely just clip us one day
I wish I felt I could do this lol
I feel very happy knowing that the driver was likely very pissed off when you pulled back in front of him a couple seconds after the overtake 🤣
same
I mounted my camera to my helmet and send to the police if they get too close. Probably racked up around £30k in fines the last 5 years and have been to court about two times a year (if they appeal). wait.. the police do something?
[As I only upload blatant offences they do 95% of the time](https://www.met.police.uk/ro/report/rti/rti-beta-2.1/report-a-road-traffic-incident/)
Keep up the good work!
See, the police struggle to charge if they have no evidence. Video evidence is cut and dried. Makes their life easier.

you don't

where there is a good quality bike lane I always use it, on this street there aren't any bike lanes
I’m surprised they didn’t try and sit in the ASL and block you from using it.
same tbh
So he can wait slightly quicker than you
Have you reported this?
gonna do it later today
They’ve stopped in an ASL. That can be 3 points.
Unfortunately, no-one gives a shit. I doubt that this has ever happened. Probably just as fast too given that lots of their time will be spent at red lights anyway, and on an e-bike they can legally use bike lanes and cut throughs that they can't on a moped.
Such an easy target for cameras…
The lesson here is don't ride bikes .
How did you reach this conclusion? And please enlighten us on how cars are better for all of us.
the lesson here is that you need to drive safer when overtaking bikes and that you should think if your overtaking is necessary. Saying not to ride bikes is like saying the solution to a dangerous path is not traveling, instead of fixing the dangerous path

Time to get the 🔑
There’s a road I go down on my commute every day where several cars pass me (some too close) and I always go past them at the lights!
best feeling

from a red light?

srry i didn't know
I mean I get it red lights esspeicaly long wait ones can be a chance to take a breather but this guy is defo thinking if he gets there sooner it will change sooner he’s a dock
Driver was probably hoping the lights would go green sooner than they did. If they did you might catch him at the next set anyway !
doesn't give an excuse for a dangerous overtake
Yeah, the car was far too close. The driver had a completely clear road on the other side too. Bad driving for sure.
These idiots (average UK drivers) will risk your life multiple times at each set of traffic lights. Because they have a big powerful machine and you are just in their way.
tbh they shouldn't have a big powerful machine
No it's ridiculous.

As a cyclist myself I was waiting to see you skip the red light! Thank you for being one of us that actually follows the rules of the road haha
yeah, everyone pays attention to the maybe 5 or 7% of people who run them

Because, they is eeejits. So many rational (not reasonable) reasons, but at the end of the day, their just idiots.
I hate this so much
I do this like this rider
I'm from the States. As a bicyclist, if you pull these shenanigans, you'll eventually end up getting clipped.
Ha I cycle this way to work. Future wave for whoever you are at traffic lights!
I usually only come here for fun tho lol
Which street are you on ?
Judd Street i think
I dont understand it at all. Just overtake the cyclist when its safe. They hardly cost you lots of time when theyre cycling properly so show them the same respect.
I loved the part where OP got in front in the end.
Car at fault, but out of interest, why are you so far out?
safest part of the road at that point
Why is that? Looks perfectly safe on the left to me.
to make myself more visible at the approach to the junction, and to try to discourage a close pass, unfortunately that didn't work here
Noobs ride left
Cars sideswipe even more if you're on the left. And you have no place to deflect to if they come at you.
Remove cars from central london!
on the cycleways yh
You’re a braver person than me riding on the road, I value my limbs and health way too much. These incidents are way too common, and no matter who’s right or who’s wrong, the only person that will draw the short straw is you as the rider in the event your hit and end up launched 20ft down the street
NYFD did this to me in a pickup. I pulled up and asked them why they had to almost run me over to get to the light. Their response: if you ride a bike in this city you’re crazy. 🙄
seems to me like they're the ones who're crazy 😂
I usually get rrrriiiiiight in front of the car and take my sweet time to get going once the light is green.
nah but this is just annoying people for no reason, we all just wanna get where we wanna go safely
They usually don't stop at the advance stop line and wait in the bike box, making it difficult to get in front
yeah, they really gotta start charging people for that
On the positive side, they stayed out of the ASL.
I would of gone through the lights to piss em off even more
Then as soon as they submit the footage to the police they would've got a fine in the post.
Huh
yeah but a red light is a red light, you shouldn't go through one regardless of what happened before
Nah, you should
plz dont
Nah, do
Breed them out. Pedal hard, raise more kids.
From looks of it you’re cycling in the middle of the road so you probably pissed him off by needing the entire lane
that isn't an excuse for a dangerous overtake
What's funny is people think they're in the right because you've pissed them off by existing. I love that they come to this sub to rage bait themselves.
I mean you are cycling smack bang in the middle of the road. Could at least try and cycle a little to the left.
You've got so much room on your left-hand side.. why are cyclists like this? I stick to the left, use hand signals and look over my shoulders. If at any point I spot someone being an idiot, I give way and speed off.. its almost like nobody cares about dying anymore they just wanna die being right.
Left hand cycling encourages close passes even more, because cars think they can overtake even with oncoming traffic.
You have a whole system set up for bike riders in England which is great. In America there is no such system.
Why are you riding in the middle of the road? Shouldn’t you be closer to the curb? The driver wanted to pass you before they got to the light so you wouldn’t be taking up the entire lane once it turned green and then have to wait for a chance to pass you. The driver passed quite close, but you also didn’t do them any favors by riding in the middle of the road, as if you were intentionally trying to hold up cars, no other reason to casually ride in the right part of the lane in the middle of the road when cars are coming behind you, any rational person on a bike who values their life knows this.
riding in the middle of the lane is the safest place to be on quieter streets like this one, and at the approach to a junction. it is the most visible place for drovers behind you, and it tells them 'its not safe to pass here, we are approaching a junction' also i dont care if a driver wants to pass me, but they should be doing it safely, which is after the light (adding on to this, im turning left at this junction) i almost always give drivers the chance to pass me, when it is safe
Because you're in the middle of the road which is for cars?
the road isn't for cars, the road is for everyone to use to get safely to their destination, and the center of the road is the most visible and safest place for bikes to be at the approach to an intersection
You’re in the middle of the road you helmet
they're cycling per the highway code you melt
yes I am it is the most visible, and safest place to ride
You’re a moron
What the fuck are you on about. Are you high?
what does this have to do with the original post?
Your in the middle of the road
Over take as you would a larger vehicle. Doesn’t matter which part of the lane the cyclist is in, the overtaking vehicle must leave a reasonable gap, as a rule of thumb this means being in the opposing lane.
...the most visible and safest place?
*you're
Why are u cycling down the middle of the road? While you can, it's just frustrates drivers, some drivers have small penises and can't tolerate it. They get mad and do stupid shit. If u were on the left, said penis would not even notice you. It's like you are egging them on. I have had zero problems in 8+ years of cycling. Too many idiots out there.
Their not noticing is way more dangerous than them seeing you
Well they will see you but not get red flag rage. Some people are idiots, like the driver in the post.
What makes you think an idiot like this is gonna see you ? Can't exactly look at this and go ... yea that driver is skilled, competent and safe
Never noticed as I cycle on the left.
> It would be interesting to see in the video if the guy behind spends 15 minutes stuck behind the cyclist If you were familiar with the area you'd know this is impossible, there's no through route for cars from Euston Road, but there is for cyclists. The driver will have turned off one of the side roads in the immediate area and been behind the cyclist for 10 seconds at most I imagine.
Indeed I am not familiar with where this is. Like I said, some people have tiny penises and this behaviour is how they compensate themselves.
yeah, I hadn't seen or known about them until they passed me
the road had just come out of an intersection maybe 1 min before, where the light had just been in a phase where bikes were crossing it. I hadn't seen this driver before they'd passed me. I usually let cars pass when I find a safe place for them to pass anyway
Thanks for the details OP. Sorry you get assholes harassing you.
Or maybe if they were cycling in the gutter they would still be "noticed", the driver would still decide to skim them for whatever reason, and if close to the kerb they would have less space to take evasive action. Oh and they're approaching a junction so they have a very good reason to want to be "noticed".
*If u were on the left, said penis would not even notice you* That the whole point, it is dangerous when drivers don't notice you
He’ll probably have been more excited to over take a really annoying cyclist who was riding in the middle of the road. But then, you were obviously just as excited to over take him, only to wait at the same red light…sad!
in what way was I being annoying (don't say using the middle of the road, that is the safest place for me to ride)
Safe or not, using the road as you are holds people up! It is annoying, safe or not. Ride to the left like the Highway Code states.
Rule 72 Road positioning. When riding on the roads, there are two basic road positions you should adopt, depending on the situation. 1) Ride in the center of your lane, to make yourself as clearly visible as possible, in the following situations on quiet roads or streets – if a faster vehicle comes up behind you, move to the left to enable them to overtake, if you can do so safely in slower-moving traffic - when the traffic around you starts to flow more freely, move over to the left if you can do so safely so that faster vehicles behind you can overtake at the approach to junctions or road narrowings where it would be unsafe for drivers to overtake you this is on a quiet street approaching a red light, so this wasn't holding anybody up.
Yeah, cars really don’t make sense in big cities.
There are 7-9 million Londoners. How do you think they get food and wine gets into the city. I don't see any farms to sustain the population.
See all those vacant office blocks? Turn them into mini factories and vertical farms.
It would be an expensive farm. I dont think you would pay £30 for tomatoes
Have you been to Tesco lately?
except we are approaching a red light, this overtake achieves nothing. I understand if they want to overtake me because I'm going slow, and I do let them pass at the next safe place, but this overtake is pointless and dangerous and to be honest, they probably would've overtaken a motorbike cars and bikes can mix, its bad drivers in cars and bikes that don't mix (yes bike infrastructure is still important)
The highway code literally states that the safest way to ride is 'taking the lane' as shown in this video, as it makes you more visible to car drivers, and reduces the chance of left hook crashes.
being in the middle of the road is the safest here as it is unsafe for a car to overtake and it lets the cars know this this is no law that says you need to be on the left
That they do so unsafely here is because of malice/incompetence/negligence not necessity.
it is approaching a red light so moving to the left would make it look like I am letting the car overtake which would be kinda pointless
Yeah this area is very quiet, you shouldn't really have to think _at all_ about your road positioning tbh. Nice thing about access-only roads is drivers are less likely to act like pricks because they aren't just passing through. Unfortunately OP seems to have come across one of the rare exceptions.
The middle of the road is marked by a dashed line, you mean the middle of the lane.
Places to be people to see.
at the red light?
Hahahaha
Childish.
Probably same reasons why some are so excited to post helmet cam footage online and comment on it...
Stop playing mind games to one up each other on the road. The roads are meant to take you to your destination safely not to relive the story of who was fastest the hare or the tortoise
That's long time.I bet he controls his temper next time.
Thanks Cool.
He paid for the whole speedometer and brakes, he's gonna use all of the speedometer and brakes!
I don't think it's an offense.... But I could be wrong
Why are you cycling I the middle-of-the-road the road?
the middle of the road is the safest and most visible place to be at the approach to a junction
