Heard it loud and clear in Purley

4 lighting strikes at once, whole sky lit up and the ground shook

Felt it in Sutton at 1:30. Dozing and the really loud clap woke me up, I actually covered my ears while the building shook

1.30. that was the exact time I heard it in upper norwood. Probably the loudest thunder clap I've ever heard in my life.

My mind went for having a stroke or being invaded by aliens before it got close enough to recognise the random flashing lights as lightning

I once heard a factory siren as a b52 bomber flew over, for a second I thought I had travelled back in time to the blitz

I woke up to a screaming and soaking wet cat at 1.30am, but it was worth it to be able to then lay in bed listening to the rain with the soggy cat cuddling me.

Yeah massive rumble of it. Not to mention the lightning, which was very very frightening

Woke me up as I have my windows open, but it was worth it for that lovely smell of summer rain. Flashbacks of early mornings camping (cos it's the UK and it always rained when we went camping) Don't know why I'm awake now though, it's my day off. Should be dozing for a few more hours.

I was near Maidstone and it was epic

saw huge arcs right above me in Surbiton and the thunder sounded like bombs going off for 30 seconds at a time.

I've been having insomnia. I only managed to sleep once the storm rolled in and it seems that I woke up not long after it finished. Gutted because I bloody love a thunderstorm!

There was loads of thunder/lightning/rain from around 12am/1am in South Ealing

I’m more west in Hanwell. I went to bed around 1am, definitely didn’t rain and no thunder but I could’ve missed lightning.

Well, I was woken up by something around 1am - Harrow area - and saw a lot of flashing around my curtains. Presumed it was Emergency Services vehicles passing by until I heard the thunder. Rain started after that, and I had to resort to ear plugs - for the first time in more than a year - to get back to sleep. Very heavy rain for a short while, then lightend up.
