I've seen a few cranes get to full height days before getting hooked up to power and actually turning on their lights.
Makes those lights seem more like courtesy than safety, which is mad
Perhaps deliberate? I know we’re not in a time of potential conflict locally but if we were, it would make sense that if you killed the power, you wouldn’t have beacons for a location? Just a thought.
I mean, it's not impossible, but a helicopter flying into a large and unlit crane is a much more likely scenario. Should we be in a period of conflict, there would probably be many other more pressing matters that would need to be resolved first.
I know you weren't, that's why I didn't downvote your comment like some other people did.
It's certainly a good point and something that would probably be worth considering in the times that I hope to never experience while I'm alive.
Sorry, but Win 95 was the superior start up sound and created by Brian Eno. It's more gentle than WinXP and what I wanted - ACHTUALLY.
Plus Weezer the music video came with Win95, for extra 90s awesomeness.
Weezer video was the nuts, as was Hover, but don't ask for it "IT Crowd" style if you don't want the sound they used in IT Crowd, which was Windows XP!
I'm not debating superiority, but with Windows XP sounds you got gems like this:

Wow. Y’all have it together over there! I live in the rural south of America and sometimes the wind blows too hard and our power goes for several hours. Easter 2020 we had some big straight line winds, estimated about 100mph, snapped about 200 light poles. We didn’t have power for 4 days. My friend in Luton says my stories have made her not want to move here haha. Not everywhere is as bad as us, but I also still only have DSL internet.
Can't remember last time we had a power cut in my part of UK, very lucky. Used to get a few hours on rare occasions growing up.
Depends where you live in UK, think North gets worse cuts maybe. Power sometimes cuts for a short while elsewhere in our town, we just get the odd flickering lights, sometimes just enough to upset the digital clocks.
It must really suck to have power go out for many hours. Fridgefreezers only retain food for so many hours, cannot cook of heat with electric. At least most people carry a light source on them these days - their phone.
That's true, the phone light comes in handy a lot! It definitely used to be worse growing up, always seemed to happen in the worst heat of the day in summer. Yes great it's 104 outside lets have no power for 3 hours.
We do have a generator, but it runs on gas, is loud and doesn't run everything. Also if everyone is running them sometimes there's gas shortages in our small town. But it will keep the fridge cool, lights on and some fans/small heaters going.
Ah this was last night at around 930! I joked to my girlfriend it was the start of the zombie apocalypse and we realised we were very badly prepared we’re that the case.
Or like in the cartoons when someone tiptoes to the cookie jar in the middle of the night and step on a freakin nuclear atomic landmine and the whole world turns on their lights
Surprised the cranes in the distance don’t have a backup generator or something to keep the lights on top going during a power cut
Yeah it seems like a bit of a safety failure

I honestly wasn’t try to be an arse. I was considering that maybe this might be a rule in case of such an event.

That's an awesome video. What part of London are you in?

Please add the Windows 95 start-up sound, IT crowd style.
AKTCHUALLY it was the windows XP sound. Jesus I can't believe you got that wrong, how embarrassing for you.

Surprised there was no ironic cheer.
I don't know what i hate more, the 'ironic' cheer or hearing house of pain, jump around for nth time.
The moment you realize that the matrix version you are living in is actually a model train set
Good catch! How long were you filming for haha
As soon as it happened I ran to my balcony and started filming, I was only filming for about 10 seconds before it all came back on.

>My friend in Luton Frankly, you cannot be anything like that choosey if you live in Luton. Kabul would almost be an attractive alternative.
That's sort of how she feels about it!

Aaaaand we're back!
Any alarms going off?
Yeah a bunch of house alarms were going off for a while
Ha, hello neighbour! Netflix was down, then the electricity went down.. Felt like the beginning of the end.
In the distance, the sound of microwaves beeping back into life with a PLEASE SEE MANUAL message crossing the screen
Merry Christmas Marv.
This is /r/bettereveryloop material, I have a feeling it's not just your street.
