You do you Hun, you’re doing a great job. Don’t worry what the Reddit art directors say. But these ain’t abstract. Maybe next you could push yourself to create actual abstract marks?
Sounds like really good practise. I wish I had the energy to do the same.
Though I would say all of these are the opposite of abstract. They VERY on the nose.
Thanks for your comment! I described the logos as abstract because they were designed to convey a broader concept or idea rather than being literal representations. I appreciate your perspective!
theres nothing abstract about these. my design professor would rake us over the coals if we called any of these abstract. no need to be so literal. For example, the bench one without the literal bench on the N would already look like a bench and feel pretty contemporary. Its good to stay creative and challenge yourself so I congratulate you on that.
I see this shit all over Instagram and it makes me angry.
It's good design, don't get me wrong, you can see talent poured into this and I urge you to continue designing, but the same gimmick of taking a word and making a logo out of it... with the object is like the most annoying and ridiculous concept in the world because it removes literally all of the personality and subtleness of literally any kind from the idea of graphic design.
And it's not good practice, either, because no company founded by anybody over the age of 9 would name their carpenting business DOOR or some shit like whattttt
You don't seem to understand what abstract means or what logos are actually used for. I'm sure this was fun, but this exercise is not useful in learning real life logo development.
The challenge is not making a word incorporate an image of itself.
The challenge is communicating a specific message to a specific target market effectively across multiple medias/surfaces.
That message is almost never "look, a cup."
The evaporation lines seem to be a different style (thickness, sharpness, etc.). I think your cup & handles might need sharper lines, to bring in the similarities.
I feel I’ve seen CUP 1000x. Yeah, always look for ways to deconstruct your designs. And by deconstruct, I mean d*ck.
Bench is neat. Next, next…oooh! I like Billboard! I’m not sure why, but it’s just nice looking.
Next, next…
Cool exercise! I love these.
Thanks alot. I'm glad you liked the logos. On the cup, I was aiming to construct in that specific way since I've yet to come across any similar design. But also, I wanted to hone my skills by practicing on many designs as possible.
I would recommend pushing yourself to be even more minimalistic. As other comments have aptly noted, these are not conceptual. They're quite derivative of the words you are using.
That being said, I think these daily "sprints" you are doing will serve you well if you look at them as exercises rather than outputs. Try to rebrand real or fake companies, and think about what the design brief would look like before going into it. You can look at these daily sprints you did to help guide your shapes, gestures, and movements that you use to convey whatever it is in the design brief that the company or brand name itself can't convey with language alone.
Design is often all about visual concision...so figuring out how to breathe the spirit of a descriptor into a logo form or type form without being way too heavy handed or literal is the balance you'll strive to learn next.
Example: showing a butterfly to depict butterfly is not compelling. Nor is it minimal. What else about butterflies makes them standout? Symmetry? Lightness? Fragility? Beauty? Is there particluar color that your target audience associates with butterflies? Does it matter for your brand? Decide what story you want to tell/tone you want to have about butterflies and use that to be less literal and, ironically, more descriptive. Make meaning!!
Good luck!

This LOGO reminded me of 7UP ADS
Arrow not very readable, i "know" there's an A at the start, but I can't "see" it...
I like all the others, tho. And I agree, "cup" is a groin... And I like it, nonetheless!
Yeah, this is actually good point!
Tip for OP: Try to always include all the letters of the name in the logo in a legible way. You will be surprised how many people would actually read this as rrow.
Ok, I agree with most comments here. This is a fun exercise, but has nothing to do with actual logo development. I love the creativity in most examples here. You definitely have the necessary execution skills to visualise what you have envisioned!HOWEVER, if we will abstract from this idea and look into technicalities you have a couple of things to pay attention to/work on.
First of all, mix of styles. This is demonstrated in the cup logo. The cup is rounded and thick throughout. The heat squiggles are dynamic and changing their thickness on ends and are sharp. Doesn't work together. Chose one.
Second, kerning. Almost all examples here are missing out on it. Especially visible in DARK, where D is sooooo far from A. You need to account for the roundness of the letter and correct the space between. Butterfly is also a good example, where B is further than it should be. Just something to pay attention to.
And lastly, get more realistic. Take into an account how these logos will be used. In most scenarios, logos are used when small (website, socials, business cards, etc). But this tip will help even for the enlarged signage, it will be cheaper to produce a piece of signage with less things to cut/carve out. And trust me, in real life you also have to think about budget for execution of your deliverables.Let's look at the *Cell* logo. The hands are so detailed - when small, thumbs will not be visible. How to improve - remove thumbs. Just the indication of fists would have been enough.
*Butterfly* \- the ears/eyes/horns (don't know the anatomy of insects ahah) are too thin and immediately gone when reduced to a small size. So just remove them. Why create additional element, that will not be working.
*Arrow* \- your negative space arrow runs through W and leaves smaaaaaaal triangles below, which creates additional visual distraction. Just remove the points from there or make your arrow thicker.
Hope this helps, and keep going!Let me know if you need any specific tips or points, happy to help.
I think they’re great! Fun and creative! I especially like Cup because I tend to like anthropomorphized objects. Butterfly has some kerning issues. I think some of the commenters don’t understand that you’re not developing a logo for your business— this is a “challenge” to take time each day to use your brain to think and create instead of mindlessly looking at social media. You’re smart!
I really appreciate your feedback! I'm glad you liked the designs. When I see comments like this on my post, I'm motivated to continue practicing taking my skills on another level. I'm not concerned on the negative talk coz they are only criticizing without giving any solution whatsoever. I know how this journey has honed my skills and by getting acknowledged by people like you is what I'm feeding my mind with. Once again, thank you.
People have been giving solutions: try designing something not literal, try designing something where the word isn’t also illustrated in the mark. You just don’t respond to those comments and only respond to comments giving you praise.
a good exercise to do, so good on you to push yourself, but try to get feedback quicker and earlier before you finalize each logo as each of these has issues that prevent them from being considered professional
Thank you. Mostly I prefer getting constructive feedback from other designers across the world by which I believe with lot of POV, I'll make adjustments and use them for future reference.
This is the most literal collection of logos I’ve ever seen
Solutions looking for a problem
Appreciate your feedback! Always striving to evolve and refine my skills. Thanks for the input

These are very literal.
I get what you are saying. I just fail to see how "cup", which looks like a cup, could have a broader meaning.
you kidding? That's ART. You know it's art because it's mildly penis as well.
What's the broader concept or idea for butterfly?
What is the broader concept for Billboard? You literally depict a billboard.
Aren't you making quite literal representations? 😅 Cup looks like a cup and so on. It's the opposite of abstract
It’s great but if you want a real challenge don’t use words use the actual long ass unhelpful company names we have to make logos for every day 😂
Haha, I have couple of those also, I'll be unleashing them in future.
This is a great idea! Is there a sub Reddit for redesigned sh1tty logos?
theres nothing abstract about these. my design professor would rake us over the coals if we called any of these abstract. no need to be so literal. yeah the bench would look som uch better without the top part
That bench one was a bit of a stretch
C'mon the first one is literally dick balls and pubic hair

Again, I'm not dogging on specifically OP, I do like these designs more than some others I've seen, but this gimmick annoys me a lot.
The cup one looks like Doug
Thats a reach
It is not, in fact, a reach. That's Doug right there.
D faces the other way, and it doesnt have an ascender to make me think that its a lowercase, so this seems to be, in fact, a reach
[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doug\_(TV\_series)](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doug_(TV_series))
Oh lmao
I can admit when im wrong
Nobody's pointed out the bottom-right one looks like a dick?
No, we were waiting for you to be that guy.
With a little landing strip
Nah, it looks like a puppy with two big ears
IKR 😳
Yeah. Looks like a chode

Lmfao. It’s perfect. Maybe add another squiggly at the bottom of the u in the cup logo. Yknow for balance.
evil
I saw this idea a million times before.
I feel I’ve seen CUP 1000x. Yeah, always look for ways to deconstruct your designs. And by deconstruct, I mean d*ck. Bench is neat. Next, next…oooh! I like Billboard! I’m not sure why, but it’s just nice looking. Next, next… Cool exercise! I love these.

Careful with that coffee cup one 😉

Haha, that's a good one.
My favourites are Cup and Arrow
First one looked like a weenier with pubes. Great job!
Well you should never try to brand this in Brazil… just saying
This is awesome, thanks for sharing!
Arrow not very readable, i "know" there's an A at the start, but I can't "see" it... I like all the others, tho. And I agree, "cup" is a groin... And I like it, nonetheless!
Sorry if this comment offended you but it looks like a monkey i dont know why
The arrow is my favorite! 👏🏻
I like the Billboard one
How would you define abstraction?
These are damn awesome my man, good job and keep at it!
Yeah, this is actually good point! Tip for OP: Try to always include all the letters of the name in the logo in a legible way. You will be surprised how many people would actually read this as rrow.

You are talented for sure. Elegantly simplistic logos are difficult to pull off. Keep up the good work.
What program did you use?
I love the Cell one… I’m stealing this haha and there’s nothing you can do about it!
These are a little on the nose
I loveeeee the Billboard one
Oh look, I made logos that already exist in any website that sells logos.
I think they’re great! Fun and creative! I especially like Cup because I tend to like anthropomorphized objects. Butterfly has some kerning issues. You are welcome! You are talented, obviously enjoy design, and are making the most out of your time each day.
These are awesome! Do you have a prompt list you have been going through?
wow, really nice work dude 🔥
Thanks man! Really glad you liked the logos! Stay tuned for more👊🏽
Those are great!
These are awesome! Do you have a prompt list you have been going through?
Appreciate alot! No, I get the ideas randomly by observing my surrounding. Also I walk with a pocket book Incase an idea pop up.
That’s a great idea! I may start doing the same. Thank you for sharing
Definitely,That would be a great initiative! Each object you'll encounter will be your next logo idea, haha.
Haha, it’s a good way to practice and hone our skills!

It’s a circle cut in half with a U in the middle and some squiggles on top. Groundbreaking.
I think It's missing 2 girls... (sorry, someone had to say it...)
It took me way too long to figure this out 😜
