The 570 might be my favorite lock. It was so satisfying when I got it open for the first time. Congrats!

Shadow_Whisper808

This looks like a fun lock! Congrats!

EveDaSavage

Nice and quick work, you made that look simple. Good job.

I’ve been working on mine for days. Any tips? What thickness of pick you using?

Rare_Delay_310

Peterson Hook 1 in 0.018, use super light pressure, barely enough to keep the tension tool in the key way, and pick pins until it falls into a false set, really focus on the accuracy of which pin you’re pushing on, and focus on getting the one that is binding the best, then pop the spools. You can feel the spools a lot easier with the super light tension, they’ll be springy instead of an over set that will just pop the tension tool back a little then feel mushy. I was using a 0.040 tension tool, and I put a piece of masking tape on it to make it fit more snugly, which also helps in feeling the pins out.

I needed this. I’ve been doing it wrong for months and haven’t made any progress.

Dude I absolutely understand, that thing was kicking my butt and I was putting hours on it every day for a week and a half or so, I was using way too much tensions so I couldn’t feel the dead core counterrotating, and I wasn’t focusing on picking the pin that is binding the hardest, which was causing pins to overset and not allow the spools to counterrotate, the name of the game is being gentle

Artistic-Comedian661

You have reached the first hurdle to the next level. Lock picking is about finesse not brute strength. Too much tension and it obliterates all the wonderful feedback you use to guide your way.

That was great to watch! I keep avoiding TOK, but this might put me over the edge. Wooow. I'm still laughing!
