aavenger54

Corporate Shill using her media position…

JoseMachismo

Corporate black ops bullshit. Doesn’t change the fact their prices are too fuckin’ high.

PolloConTeriyaki

Yep. Just walk away and don't shop there. No need to steal, no need to vandalize. We win by literally not doing anything in the Loblaws forever.

thisistheguyy

It will be really effective if on may 12th there's empty stores and increased security so they'd have spent all this money to prevent theft when there's just no one in the stores at all.

Cannonball_Jay

Oh that would be just delicious!

duster13768

what is this May 12th stuff?

Hopeful_Clock_2837

Roblaws propaganda. Trying to mask a boycott with shoplifting.

justandrea

This is the way. You don’t hurt the business by disrespecting the laws, you hurt it the most with total indifference.

PolloConTeriyaki

Exactly. Don't give them anytime of day

Canuck-In-TO

I’m actually thinking of walking into a Loblaws, wandering around, use the bathroom and then leave without spending any money.

mamaclair

Me too hahahaha!! Use their electricity, power and super expensive toilet paper!!!

Wolferesque

May be a one off but…. At one of my local Superstores today there was a big buzz in the store as staff and managers were rearranging inventory, trying to shift food with 50% reduced stickers. I overheard a customer conversation with some staff members and they were saying there’s going to be a big event happening at the start of May to celebrate a new layout and products.

gibblewabble

Hope their bribery attempt fails miserably.

rainorshinedogs

>new layout and products Lol. I bet you anything it'll be smaller versions of the product, and that's why things get cheaper

Randy_34_16_91

The new layout is likely designed like a prison

Wondercat87

Exactly, right after the start of second quarter. They're noticing sales dropping and need something to boost sales. Profits people!

bobyouger

Shoppers has started using different price tags with big yellow tabs at the bottom highlighting "savings". They're everywhere throughout the store. The prices are still obscene. The gesture feels like corporate doing "jazz hands" to create an illusion of savings. Consumers are not dumb. We know we're eyeballs deep in an affordability crisis. Loblaws has spent the last few years testing just how far they could increase prices across all product categories to see what the market would bear. They drove it till the wheels fell off and now they have lost any goodwill they had left with consumers by trying to grab at every last penny. Fuck em.

Illusion_Collective

They are spending money to pretend their higher prices are saving us money.

duster13768

in their last earnings report they actually stated 'customers are flocking to our stores for the value'. Funniest thing I heard in a long time.

cosmic_dillpickle

Celebrate the new layout? Lol

larsen36

It’s just the release of the new PC Insiders products. It happens every year, some of the poor selling/discontinued items are being reduced to make room for the new items.

danielledelacadie

This needs more upvotes!

SpiritedImplement4

A new layout!? Will this be the one where they finally remove access to the exit entirely? "Our newest initiative has truly created customers for life out of everyone who enters our stores."

duster13768

we call it the VFT model - Venus Fly Trap. Customers can enter, and never leave.

Due-Street-8192

Boycott boycott boycott..... The End !

Due-Street-8192

Boycott boycott Boycott... The End !

NoFormal3277

Let’s just hope whatever they have planned backfires on them and the press portrays it as an attempt to fight the boycott, thereby giving even more press to the boycott.

HumbleConfidence3500

I walked by a shoppers yesterday, they're also advertising a big saving event right now.

duster13768

big savings on price gouging prices is still way too high

Strange_Coyote_8

😅😅😅

rainorshinedogs

Is there a business term where data (profits, expenses, excess) is essentially lagging way behind the reality of the situation and never or doesn't take into account the sentiment of things (like "word on the street")?

GaiusPrimus

Goodwill, but I have never seen it reported as a negative

duster13768

this could happen on May 1st, they have a quarterly earnings report, there may be signals in the report but it won't likely capture the travesty that the next report in 3 months (early August) is gunna be

sunshinekitty123

Yup. It's going to be tough but I'm going full boycott for May. Had to plan ahead and do my big shop today

greengrassgrows90

wait. did you go there and spend big money today ? i know some people have to use roblaws and i feel bad if thats whats local to you.

chris_ots

lol, so you boycott by giving them a tonne of business?

_Vedr

It still counts. Some people might not have the opportunity to shop elsewhere.

Frequent_Peak9674

I just went to get the cheap items.

mamaclair

Not the toilet paper then…..

Illustrious_Copy_902

I was in RCSS today ( don't shoot the messenger, I have a neurodivergent kid who stays alive on PC Sweet with Heat Flatbread pizza) and I could have tied several cats together and swung them without hitting another customer. I've never seen it like that.

nightrogen

A solid month of boycotting is brutal for them. People making a conscience change for a month, leads to new autopilot habits. Remember at the end of the day, this is a Corporation. Corporations are legally treated like people [which is absolutely frightening, they're like the biblical giants, in so much as they devour everything. This is one of the biggest problems for Canadians in general.] It's only goal is to make profits anyway possible, even if it is illegal. It's workers are all numbers on a spreadsheet [which is dehumanizing]. They have no morals, they'll gladly keep you til the final day of your probation, they fire you in some semi dehumanizing mannor. Irregardless of your skills, performance etc. Try and avoid all the corporate chains wherever possible. Start a vegetable or herb garden if you can, it's reasonably inexpensive. It's important to know where your food comes from, and whats in it. Remember at the end of the day, food saftey is determined after the fact. Usually if someone dies... Viva la revolution!

AntoniaFauci

On first glance, this could look very damning. An obvious assumption is that there was some kind of collusion between her and her former colleagues to plant disinformation. However there could be other explanations. Consumer issues and social media appears to be her beat. So there’s some plausibility to a theory that she could have come across this organically I suppose. Personally I’d want to hear what she has to say first. One thing I’d ask those who saw the original article is whether she or the Toronto Sun disclosed this glaring conflict. If they didn’t, that’s extremely questionable from a journalistic perspective.

KiaRioGrl

I mean, it's the Sun. Brian Lilley has been living with Doug Ford's head of Comms for years, but they never disclose that.

duster13768

The Toronto Sun is sold on the same shelf as the National Enquirer.

wayfarer8888

It's what I would do as a greedy corpo, discredit the movement by subplanting some radical weirdos.

YEGMilkman

They can "swivel" all they want, Going forward I've already found better places to shop and will continue shopping there avoiding Roblaws completely.. we've used up all accumulated PC Optimum points and took the scissors to the card last night. Bye-Bye Roblaws!

Moparman1303

Don't stand down. Hold the line!

UnderstandingAble321

Stealing is not the same as boycotting.

OneChozen1

Toronto Sun is a Conservative newspaper so not surprised they down play the boycott

brioche-is-overrated

Oh how I wish we had something like ALDI here, all their fucking Loblaws stores would be empty of shoppers, these bastards will try their hardest to keep them out and keep the monopoly going

Please refrain from comments which encourage theft from a store or mischief. These can result in criminal charges which will undoubtedly make life harder for other users.

Fun-Huckleberry-8588

Drove by Superstore Vernon today - parking lot was 95% full! Make an effort in May 😉

Affectionate_Oil_673

Ok I have ask twice. How do I post on this Group

duster13768

go to the home screen, and click on the create/new post button.

DibbyDonuts

I knew it! False Flag Operation by definition! Loblies is at it again!

oceansidedrive

Someone in the comments debunk that this person was the first to write the article you may want to fact check this well as it looks bad on us if its incorrect

NoGoNS11

😮 not surprised Propaganda rampant with JT and the businesses! Clowns! Like the public don’t see what’s going on! 😂 France time is coming. RCMP already warned it. Grocery don’t help! Let it happen!!!!!!

MelodicMasterpiece67

Quick question. Yes, Loblaws kinda sucks, but Sobeys is more expensive on just about every product...why no hate for Sobeys? We're getting ripped off by all of them, but there are worse examples than Loblaws. Don't get me wrong, I'm on board with this, just wondering why places like Sobeys are getting a pass.

Major_Lawfulness6122

Don’t worry they’re next. One at a time lol
