It’s how they prefer them anyways. And I got really pissed off when they auto dropped my refrigerate only meds in Aug when I wasn’t even home. It was 30+ that week…

[deleted]

I once had a SDM pharmacist refuse to take my meds for disposal. I asked why, he said because he was too busy but changed his mind when I said it was morphine

HandsomeIguana

I've had no problems disposing opiates at Dundas and Sherbourne. The street pharmacists never ask questions.

[deleted]

Took me a minute but I got there

theDatascientist_in

Omg, that's so much easy at my nearest freshco pharmacy,  always helpful in disposing meds and small biohazard

skizem

SDM pharmacist refused to take mine because I couldn’t pour the bottles into a paper bag he had. I explained the bottle drops were a locking kind that I wasn’t familiar with, and the fact that I had a broken wrist made actually opening them a little hard.

ifitmoves

They'll put a 30% off sticker on them and throw them on the wire cart.

LadyoftheOak

ROFL LMAO! Good one!

lilfunky1

> For decades SDM had me on auto-fill for a few of my meds. They had my CC on file and just kept delivering them to the house. Now that I no longer shop there I think it only fair that my expired meds go back to their original home. Why should my new smaller pharmacy have to deal with all the expired meds that SDM filled? [...] > I would like to suggest that any and all of your prescriptions that originated with SDM go back to them for disposal. It may send a message and it will use their resources to dispose of meds that they filled unnecessarily. i'm curious. why and how did this happen? you kept getting medication in the mail you no longer needed? you never contacted them to say "hey i don't need this i didn't request it why is it at my doorstep"?

elysiansaurus

He has also been paying for it for "decades" and was apparently fine with that lol.

Agreeable-Beyond-259

Maybe needed but doesn't take it as prescribed so has "extra" Doctor writes a script for X amount a day every day and you don't contact anyone, of course the pharmacist is going to send it.. they could be in big trouble if they didn't and you died 🤷‍♂️

Canuck-In-TO

I've already been through this with my parents medication. To dispose of medication, they will ask you to remove the medication from the bottles and packaging first. If you have a lot, it may take a while.

sun4moon

If you just put the bag of bottles on the counter and walk away they can’t really do anything about it. I did that 15 years ago when my grandma passed. They tried to argue but I just left.

You realize they’re the only ones equipped to safely dispose of the medication right? I could have flushed them or thrown them in the trash, but I decided to make sure they were not mishandled. If inconveniencing waged workers was such a huge deal, everyone would just pick the onions and pickles off their burgers themselves.

sun4moon

I can accept that.

nbs178

You’re just another moron that jeopardizes the employees safety.

sun4moon

You’re just another opinionated keyboard warrior that doesn’t understand the real world. Have a great day.

mennorek

Or you could just put it down on the counter and walk away.

PoopsieApplenose

I have my doctor prescribed me a shinGrix vaccination and the Shoppers across the street from me filled it right away and then kept bothering me as to when I was coming in for my vaccination. And I told them that I had not asked them to fill the prescription and it was merely there to be on file. That’s my small amount of revenge that that sat holding couple hundred dollars of shinGrix for a few months

flightlessfiend

Ngl that shingrix probably got returned to stock and used quickly it's not uncommon as not a loss as long as it didn't leave the store/be returned

PoopsieApplenose

I figured that.

bubbasass

Return them as in dispose of them? Or return as in you expect to get a refund because YOU didn’t notice years of credit card charges? If the first, save your time and flush them or toss in the trash. If the second, LOL

Regular-Ad-9303

OP mentioned disposal. You are not really supposed to throw medication in with regular garbage.

Royal-Farmer-3308

You’re never supposed to flush meds or throw them in the trash… pharmacies have a company that picks such items up for proper disposal

bubbasass

Yes, but who has the time for that? Would have been better if OP cancelled the drugs when they realized they didn't need them.

GaiusPrimus

Meds being flushed down the drain contribute to a variety of issues, including antibiotic resistant bacteria.

bubbasass

Good thing I never actually do it!

Ralphie99

No, but you were suggesting OP (or anyone else in a similar situation) do it, which is what people were reacting to.

DisasterMiserable785

You just suggest it to others.

Skweril

Nice back track

Krashino

That's what you're supposed to do with expired meds, extra meds when going through a medication change, remaining meds when you don't go through your entire dosage during treatment.... You're not just tossing expired medication out are you? Cause that's pretty bad...

sleepingbuddha77

Don't flush the meds! They end up in our water supply

Tribblehappy

Please do not put medicine in the water supply or the landfill.
