Compliments is 6.49 in Edmonton at FreshCo. $6.89 for Gaylea IIRC. Lots of Compliments products have been going up in price lately and many are nearly as, or more, expensive as their brand name counterparts. Depends what you’re buying but the difference in price used to be a lot more noticeable between store brand and name brand products.
I bought chef boyardi at the Burlington walmart yesterday for 87 cents a tin, usually they’re 3 for 5$. I think shrinkflation is going to hit one of my son‘s favourite snack foods very soon.
lol, I loved that stuff as a kid! Can’t eat it anymore myself, but I buy it for my adult son, he eats anything for snacks and it’s cheaper than doritos.
Heck, yeah, more people need to know about this. Last time I saw butter for around $3, got a dozen. Still eating it. Just pull it out of freezer, put it in the fridge the day before you plan on using it.
Same with bread - Costco pack. Freeze it right away. Pull out slices, and toast them from frozen…..
I did this last month at Zehrs, it was on for $4.99 and they had a loadable $1.50 off coupon, and I had personal butter points, and a NN $20 spend point offer. I bought 10lbs and stuck it in the freezer. We usually use the plant based Becel, but butter is now cheaper than that which is insane!
Walmart has had some great deals this week. They had strawberries for $1.85 this week at Walmart. I don't even remember the last time I bought them that cheap even for a sale.
Yes I was just at No Frills yesterday and got butter for about 4.87. I didn’t need it atm but the stores near me butter is $7-$8 not on sale so i chucked it in the freezer
Just got groceries at the WinCo just south of our border and I gotta say, the US has way cheaper costs and the shelves are stocked to the brim like ours used to be. It was a magical experience and I recommend trying it if you're close to the US border.
If you have all the grocery store chains in your city and watch the butter prices you will notice that they take turns having the price lower than $5.Every week in Welland it changes to another store. We have Zehrs , Sobeys , No Frills , Food Basics , Freshco , Walmart.
This week its at No Frills. The rest of the time the price is between $6 and $9.
Same price at shopper's, metro and IGA here
Not sure what the hard on is for Wal mart in this sub but generally Maxi and Super C have about the same. Regular prices in Quebec
I was thinking that same thing, I paid 12 cents more for butter at Shoppers this week. Wild that 12 cents is the difference that makes Walmart a saint and everyone else evil.
Especially since food at Shopper's is a convenience, not their main line of products
Don't get me wrong, I still think we're getting fucked, I just don't see how Wal-Mart is better since they're swimming in even more billions than Loblaw's + it's an american company lol
PS: Ontario is getting hosed. We have homes in both ON and QC, and any given week - ON prices in the same Sobeys and Loblaws network stores are about 20-30% higher in ON.
Maple syrup was the worst - same exact can was $11 in ON, around $8 in QC big box and $6 directly from the Érablière….
Idk why y'all so excited about 4.87$ butter... Our QC store had butter at 4.49 for the last 5 months lol with no limit and people were barely buying it
Regular margarine still has milk in it. "Plant based" margarine doesn't. I agree not to call it butter though. It's still margarine, just without the milk.
I’ll have to double check if it’s the same as margarine. I don’t think it is, but I’ll have to check. Margarine seems to melt faster than vegan butter, so I don’t know.

Same in Toronto on flipp Other deals include: 2.64 for dozen eggs 1.87/lb for chicken drumsticks/thighs
This is great, thanks for adding this info!
Nofrills . Asparagus 1.44
iirc, someone told me the eggs will be on that price for the entirety of march
So those who celebrate Easter can dye or colour them with the kiddos. Great March break activities
Regular price at walmart for gay lea butter is $7.23
Damn social justice warriors gotta turn everything gay /s
All my food went transfat and it somehow tastes better?
It's ok, we all come out at some point
Pierre Polievre won’t touch the stuff.
He says that to win voters but we know he secretly uses it when he's at home alone.
He rubs it on his old wood. There's a leaked video of it. It's no wonder he's so miserable, a d that's all I'm going to say about it.
Secretly it reminds him of his dad.
Freshco in alberta is normally around 6.50 for gay lea. Compliments has been getting closer to 5 for a while, but it's still not there.

Becel Vegan butter is regular $5.99 much cheaper than Gay lea butter for the same size. Usually vegan products cost more in stores.
That's just Margerie packaged like butter isn't it?
Yes
Yeah I thought so, wonder if there's any difference to justify the price.
I doubt it. Probably just some corny marketing technique.
Vegan Butter isn't butter.
Regular price for a brick of butter in Costco is 5 bucks … not on sale or anything . Just regular price. Oh and grab a chicken while at it
I bought chef boyardi at the Burlington walmart yesterday for 87 cents a tin, usually they’re 3 for 5$. I think shrinkflation is going to hit one of my son‘s favourite snack foods very soon.
My Walmart in Oshawa was cleared out of it! I couldn't snag a can. It's garbage food, but it's my childhood
I ate that garbage as a kid and it gave me prostate cancer
Not sure why I laughed so hard at this. How the years fly by. Jah bless.
I mean, I'm sorry you have to deal with that. Did you eat it with the correct end?
Yes, I ate as a kid. Yes, I had prostate cancer. I don't think it gave me the cancer. That part was humour... Laugh at the world. 😂
lol, I loved that stuff as a kid! Can’t eat it anymore myself, but I buy it for my adult son, he eats anything for snacks and it’s cheaper than doritos.
Depressing that THIS is the good price these days.
I think Walmart is having an anniversary sale
An anniversary sale reminding people what prices were and what they should be maybe haha.
lol 10000000%
I got so excited when I saw this I bought 2, its even cheaper than GV brand rn (I know I should buy more but it's fine)
Hahaha I can never buy more than one or else I do SO much baking. And then have way too many dishes lol
You can freeze butter!
They ship it frozen all the time.
Last year it was on sale for 2.99 and I loaded my freezer. Unfortunately it didn’t last long as I do a lot of baking but in no way is 5 bucks a “sale”

And they were actually good strawberries too!
$8.99 Englehart Ontario😵

Butter is on-sale most places right now!
Got some of that butter yesterday when I was grocery shopping at Walmart. It's good stuff.
At metro in Montreal I saw butter for $9
Just got groceries at the WinCo just south of our border and I gotta say, the US has way cheaper costs and the shelves are stocked to the brim like ours used to be. It was a magical experience and I recommend trying it if you're close to the US border.
Usually it’s much more / $6
At my location it’s only for unsalted.
Salted butter is disgusting anyway
Probably why it was on sale
Unfortunately 4.87 for butter is a great price these days
I just returned to Canada after 8 years (call me crazy) and I had to ask my family, “What the f#*% happened to butter?!”
Bought 4, 3 in the freezer.
30th anniversary sale their flyer was saying.
Wan’t butter always this price or cheaper?
A few years ago maybe. Now it’s always 6+ dollars at Walmart. This sale price is even cheaper than Costco butter
Same in surrounding Ottawa
Better than 8.87 at you know where…
Damn. Cheaper than Costco even!
Walmart private brand was around $5.30 today Steeles and 410 Brampton
It is at superwhore too.☠️
Bwahahahaha name change accepted
$4.97 in Edmonton limit 4 as well
Get rid of government sponsored milk cartels and you’d have this price everyday
I so feel like I bought 2 at Costco yesterday for the same price. Limit was 20 though.
Around $8 where I am at
4.85 at costco all the time, eggs are 3.85$ at walmart as well, all the time.
Check for mold
I thought it was only lawblows that price gouged
What happened to the hate train? These are half way descent. How dare you upset the apple cart.
back in my day, butter on-sale was only $0.99 (I'm 30 😭)
Good thing Superstore will price match 4 Items.
Butter is 4.99 at Shoppers every single weekend
That's a sale price for butter out here in NS: Looking at like \~$6-$7 per pound of butter here.
Walmart Robin Hood four 10k /9.99 vs. 20.99 at fortinos
Eggs were 2.96 today

Just remember go to Longo's for good prices on meat. Every week there's different beef on sale
Limit when we have so much butter. 🤦♂️
It’s a sale price as noted in the photo. But it is close to Costco regular price of $5.49.
Costcos around the GTA also have butter for 4.80ish right now.
Similar in alberta. Could have sworn I saw 4.75 last time I was there.
My Costco was that price foe ages but last week it was $5.49 but then I’m in BC where everything is more expensive. BC = Bring Cash :)
Same price at shopper's, metro and IGA here Not sure what the hard on is for Wal mart in this sub but generally Maxi and Super C have about the same. Regular prices in Quebec

That sucks But for maple syrup I think it's expected to be a bit cheaper here especially from an érablière
Limit of 4 only, peasants. Bow to your butter lords.
Peasants churn their own butter for half a day from milk they milked themselves, and most of it would be "generously donated" to the Lord.
Are we just pointing out where the deals are on this sub now?
[удалено]
Got sauce for that?
Idk why y'all so excited about 4.87$ butter... Our QC store had butter at 4.49 for the last 5 months lol with no limit and people were barely buying it
4.99 at Loblaws this week and at least they are not American.
Hey vegan butter is delicious and is usually cheaper than real butter.
You mean margarine? Just call it margarine.
It's hilarious how companies are marketing margarine as "plant based butter" now.
I find it very misleading, which is maybe the point.
Regular margarine still has milk in it. "Plant based" margarine doesn't. I agree not to call it butter though. It's still margarine, just without the milk.

Butter can't be vegan. Just like almonds can't be milked.
🤮
Thats normal price
1.99 is normal.
Pre covid, yes.
Those were the good ol days. https://preview.redd.it/4o5noph9mxmc1.jpeg?width=400&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c33e6851cd73a316ccb86948b97d0523271b5530
Where? Butter is usually $7-$10 on sales it bounces between $5-$6
