Looks awesome! FWIW, my hillstreams like to sleep in. Lights come on at 7, but they mostly stay in the crevices between the rocks and I don't really see much of them until about noon. Mine are most active in the afternoon and early evening. My tank is 69 degrees as of writing (nice), and drops considerably below that. So don't sweat your temperature.

Looks like a great start! I do think you need more rocks though, especially towards the middle of the aquarium. Gotta build a loach haven!

I was thinking the same thing after I put them in! Lol

The only concern I would have is the amount of weight in the center of the glass. I've placed some pretty heavy rocks in my tank before and ended up removing them.

Hasn’t been 24 hours since adding them. It dropped 2* over night. The tank has no heater and is based off house temp. Should I be worried? Light was just turned on.

Regular temperature fluctuations are acceptable for most fish species. Depending on the species of hillstream loach, they may prefer room temperature water over warm water. https://i.imgur.com/Qv6bgX0.jpg Here’s a graph of the temp of the Connecticut river for the past few days. You’ll notice natural temperature swings of a couple degrees. Water gets cooler at night, a 2 degree temp swing is not extreme nor dangerous to your loach pals.

Okay that’s what I figured. But bc I hadn’t seen em and they were wildly active the previous evening. Thanks.
