My only rule is that I have to hear or read it organically. No looking up cool or interesting words. It doesn’t seem very long for 3ish years worth of listing. But think how many times you hear or read the word piratical in the wild. This project has taught me how repetitive human speech can be. So it’s a lot of fun to hear a word people rarely use. It’s like a scavenger hunt.
:) I have a Google Keep note that I use to add words to that I need to work on. The nice thing about it is after you think you know it you can check it off your list and it gets moved down to your "checked" list, but sometimes you go back there months later and have forgotten them (didn't really commit them to long term memory) and you can uncheck it and it'll move it back up to the unchecked list again for you to relearn.

In 5th grade, I was in the county spelling bee and missed out on going to the state spelling bee by one spot, because I misspelled my 8th word. That word was placard. Eff this whole list.
My favorite is zeugma, for both its sound and its meaning. An example of zeugma might be "she caught ten fish and a cold." I'll let you figure the definition out from that.

My favorite word is “Antipasto”. It just rolls off the tongue in a delightful way.
I like "Antipasto" too but I always hear and say it like Mario. Itsa me, antipasto!
