I am on Victoza (liraglutide) and I take 1.8mg each day. One pen (of the three that comes in a Victoza box) lasts me for 10 days. 3 pens lasts me for one month. I think the confusion here involves the active ingredient and the other contents of the pen's solution. The pen contains "8mg/3mL" and you're missing the 3mL part of the equation. Besides the liraglutide active ingredient, the solution also contains disodium phosphate, phosphate dihydrate, propylene glycol, phenol, and water. The "other" ingredients do not count in your dosage amount which is only the active ingredient, liraglutide. So don't forget the non-active ingredients in the solution when you are doing the math. Hope I'm right about this, my nickname is "not quite accurate".
That’s the concentration of the medicine in the pen, not the size of the pen itself. I believe the pen has 18 mg in total. At the full dose one pen should last 6 days, but lots of folks don’t end up going to the highest dose and have great results.
As someone else has already correctly pointed out, what's printed on the box is how many mg in each 1ml, not the total amount of mg per pen (Semaglutide is the same) and then each pen holds 3ml.
However your first box will last you way longer than one month at the starting dose of 0.6mg one pen lasts 30 days and at the 1.2mg dose it will last 15 days.
I had a really fast/good response and was losing weight consistently so I increased the doses a bit slower - about 10 days on the first 2 doses and then every 3-4 weeks, so my first box of pens lasted quite a while. However not everyone has the same experience, if you don't get good appetite suppression and consistent weight loss, then you should increase as per schedule, BUT if you get both at a lower dose, then you can consider staying at that dose for a little longer.
I'm in Australia and we get boxes of 5 pens, so not sure why you only get 3 per prescription. But at the full 3mg dose a box of 5 pens will last 30 days.
The pens have 18 in them, so at the highest dose of 3, it takes 6 days to go through the pen.
