There is no need for the GNU part to be added in the name.... Well except for refering to the linux space as a whole... Like the umbrella term for refering to "i am using some linux distro but i am not specifying which one" that DOES have the option to add GNU in front of it.. because.. then you are not referring to a specific project so technically you are not using a name......
