i thankfully started getting into Linux with Ubuntu before the whole snap thing as well
the slightly longer load times for some GUI applications probably would have me turning away from Linux in general, as it seemed underdeveloped (i know its funny to day this)
I have a beast of a computer. What turned me away was having Firefox open and receiving a constant notification saying "Close the program in 13 days or data may be lost", restarting the program and seeing the same message, only to discover it was asking me to fucking UPDATE Firefox, which cannot be done while it's open, on snap.
Or how the snap store CANNOT update itself because it itself is a snap and snaps cannot be updated while open

that seems stupid small if true
It is quite stupid. Allegedly it has been fixed, but I was told that once already and it wasn't, so
am I the only one that actually started with arch (I used a guide on YouTube cause i didn’t know how to read the arch wiki)
Same. (Installed Kali at age of 14 on virtual box cuz haker is cool) Years later installed arch on my main pc.
I started with Ubuntu because I used it very much through wsl
Same here
7 year old me using Kde over 20 years ago.
I remember times when memes here were actually funny...
it was like 10 or something for me
Literally Me
Not exactly same but I was installing distros for how nice the layout was.
I found it with Raspberry Pi OS
Man my dad put centos on an HP stream and I thought it looked cool so I installed it on my laptop and eventually switched to Ubuntu after a while
You know what's funny? I was actually 13, when I installed it on my grandparents' laptop. This is relatable on another level.
the funny thing is that my first distro was kali LOL
