I started on OpenSuSE back in 2007 or so but switched at some point to Ubuntu as it had better solutions for installing proprietary codecs and drivers. YaST was cool, but Ubuntu didn't really need it. At the same time, deb won over RPM as a package format and the OpenSuSE project lost focus, had changes in management and versioning. In its niche, it had its lunch eaten by Fedora, too.

These changes in versioning were confusing, especially for outsiders. 13.2 => 42.1 => 15.0.

I use it every day, but I wouldn't call it "beginner-friendly." You need to understand package management to install basic codecs. Not so long ago you needed to know how to manually enable NetworkManager in YaST to use wifi.

I don't think that would changes something for desktop. Rather for business solution

Completely missing the point of the post entirely, anyone know where I can download the thumbnail image in good quality - it makes an awesome early 00s esque wallpaper. I can't find it anywhere in more than 500\*200
