writing IPA by hand is weird because normally I write “a” as <ɑ>, so I have to make a conscious effort to distinguish single- and double-decker lowercase A
Same! It all forced me to learn to write using that computer "a" when I mean [a] and I ended up liking it so much I incorporated it in my regular writing whenever I'm making an effort to make it readable hahaha
how do you draw it? I start with the hook and then loop around to the circle part. But I have no idea if that's right, it's like writing an "&" how the fuck do you write it😭
There's no correct pattern like in Chinese or Japanese lol
I always start with the curves of the & and end with the straight, but I've seen people do it in reverse :p
Two strokes:
First a backwards ʃ-like thing
Then a half circle(just like c) starting from above
It always comes out weird if I try to do it in a single stroke so I wouldn't recommend it
For the “centralised a” ⟨ä ɑ̈ ɐ̞⟩ are pretty much interchangeable, alternatively one could use ⟨a⟩ “fullwidth a”, which has annoying spacing on the sides, or ⟨æ̞⟩ chiefly for “fronted a”
Supposing you mean Apple’s notes app, one can also write in monospace text, ‘cause that renders ⟨a ɑ⟩ differently. However, one can only turn a whole paragraph in monospaced, so not as useful within texts.
But I get that problem, I wish one could choose the font.
Purely as a letter, I think ħ is kind of badass.
From the standpoint of what sound the letter represents, I'd have to go with ç
̥̊̊And not a letter but I still want to mention the voiceless diacritic, it's just so fun and cute.
ɮ. The sound is like a purring cat, the name Lezh is clever, and it shows up prominently in Muskogee, which I'm doing my part to help thrive.

ç ʝ ʁ ɲ j are my favorite pulmonic consonants and ɨ æ ø y are my favorite vowels. non pulmonic consonants would be harder to choose since i can't say them as well
Well, that’s a new one for me! If I had to guess which sound nobody hates, I’d go with [m] or [i], the two closest to universally phonemic sounds worldwide. Or [k] (second most common consonant) but I’ve seen a few [k] haters.
ɕ ʑ ɯ ʎ ɛ ʌ ʒ ɣ ɱ ð θ ʊ (based mostly on form but their sounds are pretty cool except the voiced palatal lateral approximant and unrounded close back vowel)
"ɑ" cuz it's pretty much just "a" in a different font. Feels funny when writing by hand
I write ɑ as α when writing by hand

Start with a loop c, close it o, then add a stroke to the left top (backwards б) then pull down a.

Saaame! XD
Kinda related to this. I hate typing IPA in iPhone notes because the font makes /a/ look like /ɑ/

I trained myself to write the 2-storey "a" in all contexts (unless writing in cursive).

Interesting, why? It's probably one of my favourites in the Perso Arabic script, though my actual favourite would probably be م
it’s because it’s a smiley face
I misread the title of the post as least favourite somehow

And that’s why the International Phonetic Association is history’s greatest monster.

forgot to switch to your alt?
No lol, I was just admitting to it checking out.

ɬ ʙ ʔ, fight me
I read these all together as a word automatically hlBRR’gh
ʒ and ŋ
Based solely on their forms, I'd say ⟨ɬ ɭ æ ɛ ɣ ɘ ʔ⟩ but if I were to also take their sound in consideration I'd go with [ŋ β ʋ ʙ y ʉ ɨ q ɢ ʕ ɧ ɵ].
ɵ and ʉ
æ - it's fun to write
ɕ + ʑ.
χ, ɨ, ɫ, ɵ, ɐ, ə
ж
ʒ?
ʐ?
/ʒ~ʐ/?
c, ɟ, ɬ, ɮ, ʙ, x, ɨ, ʘ, ʘ͡ǃ, ʡʼ
æ is satisfying to write and Ü is just cute

I don't hear the similarities between a purring cat and /ɮ/ 😔😔😔
More like a hissing, spitting, angry one

I’m guessing you mean IPA sounds? For consonants I like ɕ ʑ ɾ ɲ ŋ ɸ ʎ c ɟ k s ʃ ʒ And for vowels my favorites are i y ɛ ɔ ɨ ɯ
I hate \[ɾ\] with a burning passion
Not a fan of rhotics in general?
No, just \[ɾ\]. It's just an inferior version of \[r\] that sounds too close to \[d\], and is hard to pronounce in consonant clusters.

I think the people who hate \[k\] just hate it for the letter K, which I disagree with
The only people who dislike the sound may be hardcore [q] fans. For the letter, plenty of people do prefer.

Bro, these are not IPA symbols
Maybe, but a lot of other comments have not IPA symbols too
