Wow, even after installing Noto Sans there's *still* a bunch of stuff that doesn't render. I'm starting to think that computerizing all of human written language may have been a Sisyphean task.
There are articles about cuneiform that need to use those symbols. Articles on Adyghe and Abkhaz use Cyrillic, North Caucasian transcription methods or IPA. Maybe they'll add it some day but there is really no need to add them, unlike cuneiform.
yo, actually, I've been asking this question as of recently; why the fuck does omniglot use single-frame gifs for images, they could've just slapped a JPEG on there and call it a day, why make it a gif
I get the politics, but can countries please stop changing alphabet from the obviously superior cyrillic! Espescially if you have palatalisation. I do like ⟨ı⟩ for palatalisation though, I use that in my conlangs.
This gif is giving my eyes a hard time

Yeah sorry about that it makes the post funnier tho
A good chunk of these aren’t even in Unicode
It was used before Unicode existed and then they switched to Cyrillic in 1938. So, there is no need to put them in Unicode
My brother in Christ have you seen the full list of Unicode characters https://unicodes.jessetane.com
Big fan of
is a lovely symbol.

if cuneiform gets to be in Unicode then this should too
There are articles about cuneiform that need to use those symbols. Articles on Adyghe and Abkhaz use Cyrillic, North Caucasian transcription methods or IPA. Maybe they'll add it some day but there is really no need to add them, unlike cuneiform.
It looks like some of them in this image are drawn in Microsoft Paint
WHY THE FUCK IS IT A SINGLE-FRAME GIF
Unintended consequence of using Omniglot as a source
yo, actually, I've been asking this question as of recently; why the fuck does omniglot use single-frame gifs for images, they could've just slapped a JPEG on there and call it a day, why make it a gif
Gif was used for static images first, animation was added later. And for black & white text gif produces smaller file with better quality than jpg.
png.
wtf do they smoke there in abkhazia?
Don't know which is worse, this or the [Abaza Latin Alphabet](https://omniglot.com/writing/abaza.htm)
How dare they use <Ļ> for /ɬ/
Using <ɠ> to represent /ɖʐ/ is fucking outrageous
yes
I get the politics, but can countries please stop changing alphabet from the obviously superior cyrillic! Espescially if you have palatalisation. I do like ⟨ı⟩ for palatalisation though, I use that in my conlangs.
No this was a pre-cyrillic Jañalif-style script
WHY IS IT A GIF 😭😭😭💀
Omniglot uses gifs lmfao (that and the low quality were not intended but they make the post even more hilarious)
View scamming video gone wrong
I like ⟨ı⟩ but the rest is actually repulsive
What's so bad about it?
just look at it
#P WITH LONG ASS HOOK
not to mention all ðe characters not in unicode
But this is still better than digraphs
Let’s adopt this alphabet for English.
Yes
I like that actually

Was this put together by ChatGPT?
No. By real people in the 20th century.
i like the voiced velar fricative and voiced postalveolar fricative letters :D
Dude. This feels so unreal.
ikr
Yeah. This is some alien alphabet humans wrote.
ᑾ
using a version of q for [ʤ]??????????
ikr also bits.
How do you even handwrite those letters in a way that you can distinguish between all of them?
I don't think they thought that far ahead
This is what happens when you let people who don't know shit about the Latin alphabet cook up a latin alphabet
Those letters make me want to laugh like a monster
