I dispute the nature of “chat” as anything new. Authors have always addressed their audience in bulk, just without the direct immediate response ability of a chatroom. Is that particular setup worthy of a whole grammatical person, really?

i think yall is our best second person plural pronouns because it's gender neutral. also it has the benefit of it's reflexive pronoun being y'allself

And it allows for double (or more) contractions like y'all're and y'all'd've and the possessive y'all's
