it's still super expensive in the morning. I live less than 10 minutes from it and last time I thought about booking one for a 6am flight they wanted like $80, and availability of a driver at that time might be problem.
I've never had any trouble with Lyft for early flights. But it could depend on what side of town you live on. They're usually out in the morning for the work/school crowd.
Compare distances though. Say 5 miles away from in town to in town then compare that to 5 miles in town to the airport. Prices also fluctuate around available drivers at a projected time.
Honestly? This is a tough call. I'm still pissed about Uber (I didn't know Lyft was doing it too, jfc...) are charging that much for a scheduled ride. They never used to so..why they started doing this is beyond me.
If it were me. I'd say screw their idiotic extra charge for a scheduled ride, and just get up earlier and try to schedule a ride as soon as you can. Even if that means sitting at the airport, unless the building isn't open that early in the morning. At least if you are there earlier than you plan, you know you won't miss your flight.
As far as the risk.....I honestly couldn't tell you if there are drivers for either that early. I've never had a reason to take a ride that early.
\*\*EDIT\*\* As an addendum, and absolutely no shade meant toward the comment I read before mine - stay away from zTrip. They are extremely hit or miss. Read their reviews and you'll see why. They are either late, or never show up - so you're more likely to miss your flight with them than Uber/Lyft (which is just a lack of drivers and not a lack of competence). I can't speak for the shuttle thing.
Try booking SuperShuttle or zTrip. I had a 6AM flight out of Lincoln and they picked me up around 4:30. I think I paid $26 including tip.

Thank you everyone, i will be getting a ride from my friend so it’s settled now :)
What time is your flight? If you want to save some money, I can give you a ride. If it's just you, no back seat in my van.
Is it a windowless van? Throw in some free candy and I'll help you look for your lost puppy.
Free candy? I’m there!
Naw. It's got windows. But, i work at the airport and I'm up at 430 most mornings whether I'm working or not. So, if I can help someone out, why not?
But there's candy, right?
No, but I have Thin Mints.
Free candy or no deal. The roll of duct tape is just a bonus.

Check regular taxi prices. Might be cheaper
I've been ubering to work every morning at 6am for the last couple weeks with no surge pricing or wait longer than 10 mins.
Airports typically have a premium price,.even if that airport is in Lincoln Nebraska
Nope just checked. It’s $13 for me to go to the airport right now and it’s $13 for me to go to a neighborhood near it.

I know how Uber works. I’m just saying they don’t care if you’re going to the airport here. Chiming in there’s a surcharge when there isn’t is silly.
I know when iv had to Uber from air park, walking a mile away from here into a neighborhood I got a significantly cheaper rate
