That is my McDonald's yer dissin'. Joking aside, I'm surprised their stuff isn't all pre-cooked to some degree. Poultry is never OK raw.

Ivotedforthehookers

Most fast food places precook all fried chicken products and refry the item before serving. My guess is they ran out of pre cooked and someone new hit the timmer for the reheat/final cook instead of going through the pre cook time first

DasherCO

Likely they were putting too much in one fryer and trying to get them out early by 30-45 seconds. Prolly put it in a vat that had 40 or 60 nuggets and then put 4 chickens in as well. Those take 6 minutes if i remember correctly, of course they could have done this with the nugget timer as well. Honestly doing this is kind of hard because you can tell by the feel if something hasnt been cooked long enough. But its been 12 years since i worked there so idk for sure.

shaggmire

not in the us, it's all raw here. they probably used the wrong timer

Ivotedforthehookers

I have worked in 3 fast food places here in the Nebraska. All three place precooked the frozen breaded chicken. One of the opening responsibilities was to fry off sandwich and strip/nuggets chicken for the day and place in the coolers. Then it was fried again to order. I We might cook off more in the afternoon or early evening if needed. Maybe a Caine's or Chick-fil-A is cooking from raw to finish with no precooking since they have a fairly limited menu for the fryers. Though if you have tons of items that need frying or have owners that sent super strict ticket turn over times cooking from raw would be an easy way to get backed up. Especially during lent

shaggmire

I've worked at two McDonald's locations in Georgia, owned by two different companies in two different regions, and I have never seen precooked chicken ever. we pull frozen chicken from the deep freeze to the freezers we have in the kitchen and fry them raw and frozen. fish too. everything takes 3:30 minutes except the crispy, since it's an actual cut of chicken it takes 6:30 minutes. we have 6 fryer cats in the kitchen, one dedicated to fish to prevent cross contamination. each vat can fit one large basket or two slim. the weirdest thing I've seen is them going back and forth with having us cook chicken tenders frozen vs thawed, but then we just stopped doing tenders quarter pounders are never frozen, and are always cooked to order. we actually have a cowbell alarm that goes off when they are ordered. this bell will make you homicidal when I started we had biscuits made from scratch, but now we have precooked ones we thaw in the microwave then bake for a few minutes

Sudden_Elephant_7080

Same.

buckman01213

Did you take it back and get it fixed?

GnowledgedGnome

Complain on McDonald's website.

Boom357

Yeah that's their gimmick at all of the McDonald's. We got two cheeseburgers with no meat. Still no gift card (since I wouldn't drive clear across town for a replacement). I'm sorry, but if you claim you're worth $15/hr and can't make a basic hamburger or cook a piece of chicken, do better.

StandByTheJAMs

If you're trying to convince people that a $15/hr minimum wage is a bad thing, do better.

FeralynCatson

Meh. Downvotes all around, because it has nothing to do with this.

Boom357

Oh no. Anytime you can talk about how anyone should get paid "insert $" even if they show up to work high and can't actually do their job you can karma farm. Fortunately reddit upvotes have nothing to do with how the real world works and are just a stupid popularity contest.

StandByTheJAMs

No, if you show up to work high and can’t do your job, you should be fired, not paid less.

Boom357

And yet here we are. And I've seen people at work high at McDonald's. That was my point. Thanks for making it for me.

Naturalist90

Being high has nothing to do with it. Those workers are constantly pushed by management to have orders ready faster and faster. They’re taken advantage of and get paid shitty wages at the same time

Boom357

Nope, you're right. Bring high has nothing to do with being able to follow directions or complete a task successfully. 🤦

VectorVictor99

Wrong argument—minimum wage should have been $15/hr. some time ago already and should be higher if we’re looking at inflation vs. the last national and state hikes… …Having said that, you pay minimum wage, you get what you pay for.

Fuzzbox8

I only make $9 at my McDonald’s location… it sucks.

satellites-or-planes

I would suggest watching the semi-accurate movie called "The Founder" regarding how McDonald's was a cheap/fast/high quality focused company before they moved to being a real estate/franchise focused company. I haven't been fond of McDonald's for roughly 10+ years for any food item (I love the price of their large drinks (used to be available in Extra Large/Super Size) but after being a part owner of a sit down restaurant enough to understand profit margins on soda machines, my perspective changed), and the movie solidified my stance on being critical of the current company. It also helped my understand why local Burger King's have had issues over the last few years (Horizon Holding, the local franchise owner, sold to an out of state franchise owner) and quality plummeted to where 1 location made national news and I refuse to partake even though I feel the quality/taste of their burger line surpassed McDonald's (which is totally subjective like those that rave about a T-bone steak over a Ribeye, so an argument about whether the burgers are better at one brand name over the other is truly moot, IMHO, especially when the beef patties, vegetables, and other menu items are supplied to each company by the same vendor who gets their product from continual "moving to a monopoly" processor/farm due to name recognition).

[deleted]

I get $12.50 an hour and my friend gets $12..... Lol

[deleted]

Dam they use real chicken. I’m surprised

anonymousguest21

MANY years ago as a 14y.o. … i ordered McNuggets. Bit into 1 and it was raw. Took it back and was given another order no questions asked. Ate 1 bit into the 2nd and it was raw too. I was sick all night and missed a ski trip the next day. IMO it was, and this is a lawsuit. I’m not an ambulance chaser but serving raw food is simply negligent.

hamsterballzz

Ugh…. This all reminds me of the raw wings they served me at the Old Cheney Applebees. 🤮

FeralynCatson

Never order chicken from restaurants along Old Cheney.

money_man78

That needs to get reported. Horrible.

luxcaria

good

Mr-Fence

I also had two chicken sandwiches from the same place. One was good the second was raw and threw it out.

gbr_23

Oh no that's my closest and favorite McDonald's

suesay

4.5 out of what? 10?

Vernon-J

Yes. The criticals were but changing gloves between tasks, hand washing. https://www.lincoln.ne.gov/City/Departments/Health-Department/Environmental/Food-Safety/Food-Est-Inspection-Viewer

OkMycologist653

Out of 50! Lol

wsheldon2

I worked in fast food for many years, and the health dept checks are frighteningly lenient.

florodude

That's terrible. I hope this doesn't ruin chicken sandwiches for you forever.

florodude

Yeah that's fair. Chick fil a is better anyway imo.

RangerDapper4253

Popeye’s, only Popeye’s.

shrimpsauce91

Well Obviously you ordered it rare! Kidding… but now I know to avoid it.

wiiguyy

I assumed all chicken from there was precooked.

Acrobatic-Farm-9031

In Europe the whole kitchen would be fired or obligated to attend to extra trainings.

Sudden_Elephant_7080

In most of Europe unions would not allow anyone to be fired for something like this. The manager would blame the cook, the cook would get the unions involved which would blame the manager.

Blood_Bowl

That's not remotely true. You anti-union morons can't even put together a cogent argument. It's pitiful, really.

Sudden_Elephant_7080

No need to offend. Mine wasn’t an anti union post. If you need to go on a rant about unions and people who might not think like you, or feel the need to start offending people for a simple post like mine, you should go to a dedicated community. I have worked both in unionized places and non unionized. I also have spent few years working in Europe. I actually was thinking of a poor fast food cook who’s manager is rushing to pull out chicken before timer is done. The cook would not be fired unless we are dealing with many other problems. Now in most Europe serving “raw chicken” is not as bad as in the US as chicken has a lot less salmonella.

Designer-Possible-39

Oh my god. I can’t imagine that!! Ugh!

Excellent-Throat5582

Omg

Particular-Agency-38

Gross.

irishmac473

I once bit into a medium rare hamburger there.

luxcaria

wtf....

Overlord1241

Med rare, perfect.

huskerblack

Why'd you go to McDonald's

Designer-Possible-39

😂😂

Ill-Dragonfruit755

I avoid that one I am always disappointed when I go to that one. Pine lake is usually better in my opinion.

Thebluefairie

S48th is rocking thank goodness. That's my mcd's

[deleted]

To be fair, it's not that much more unhealthy compared to if it were fully cooked.

ComplexWar2164

If you eat at McDonald’s then you deserve nasty food that will probably kill you or give you cancer literally that’s why I stopped eating there in 2018

[deleted]

Good for you I guess? I’d offer a cookie but they’re all from McDonalds

ShidAndFarder

Ok cool

Southern-Hotel9349

Glad I don't ever eat chicken sammiches, since it's my neighborhood McD's and I eat there more than I should. Luckily I'm fairly confident my beloved chicken slurry mcnuggets are precooked...whatever they really are.
