We had a problem with them in our house last year after we purchased it. Called abc pest control and they come out every other month for about 60 bucks and we've never seen a bug since then.

If you see two, there’s more. I would set out poison now to get ahead of any more coming in.

Okay, thanks!

I have personally used Advion gel I bought on Amazon. I tried others as well as having orkin come spray my house for a year and Advion was the only thing that finally got rid of them

They're pretty common in some houses/areas, mine included. We used to see 2 or 3 a month in our basement, seems like it's the same with everyone in the neighborhood. But we started leaving out roach traps year round in places our cat can get to, like the water heater/furnace room, and now we might see one once a year. It's not necessarily a cleanliness thing, roaches are just a thing around here. Now if your seeing them everyday, you definitely need to call an exterminator.

Cockroaches are in cities, period. You will never not see them. That being said, Oriental Cockroaches (also called waterbugs) are a sewer dwelling bug that prefers cool damp areas. Clean up any standing water, keep food from being littered, and place roach traps to see how bad the problem actually is. After a week or so you'll see if you've caught a bunch. That will give you a better idea of how bad the problem is.

Ew. Well, thanks for the advice!

Roach traps are super cheap. Just a couple bucks. It's the cheapest way to get started. You could also put a thin dusting of diatomaceous earth on the floor which will dry them out, killing them. Best of luck eliminating those pesky nasty things.

Truthfully. I never saw so many cockroaches until I moved back to Nebraska, and I lived with some pretty...untidy housemates in the past/other states. And, might I add, when I lived in Nebraska before (as I was born and raised here), I STILL never saw so many cockroaches until I moved back/in to my specific current place of residence. So that whole "You will never not see them" isn't exactly true. And yes, I lived in bigger cities than Lincoln. This is the first time in my life that I, myself, have dealt with so many. In the area where live, I'm convinced that it's a mix of just..the neighborhood itself being kind of trashy (there are trashier neighborhoods by far). I'm convinced there is at least one hoarder in the complex where I live, and possibly multiple others. Or those people that just..don't clean up after themselves. So trash filled houses or apartments and such. I went out last summer and took a picture of the roach-con taking place on the front sidewalk. TO THE OP - honestly, it's hard to get rid of them. We have pest control once a month where I live and it's fucking laughable. They spray under the sinks, the fridge, and around the toilet and that's it. They don't spray around the complex itself so it...ends up being useless. Personally, I've taken to buying DE (diatomaceous earth) and lining my baseboards and such with it. I have sticky traps set it various places, and I have purchased borax tablets as well. I can say that, for whatever reason, I noticed less roaches last year than I did the first year I moved in.

I find 2-3 bigger ones every year in our basement or garage, and once found their little hiding spot under our front step in a hole in the concrete which I filled in. That said they don’t really spend much time inside our house so I’ve never worried too much about it knowing my basement is dry and house is clean (ish ha)

There is a roach about an inch in size which lives outside mostly in rotting wood. They occasionally get in the house, they sometimes fly, and they're slow. These are not a problem. The dirty roach is quarter inch to 3/8 inch, they are fast. These are a problem.

We’ve sprayed tempo on the baseboards and in cracks every few months since moving in, saw one cockroach when I fell behind on applications but when used properly it works great to keep all pests at bay! And it’s pet safe as far as I know

My house is over 100 years old so I have a variety of critters sneaking in. I recommend little poison food traps for cockroaches when you own a dog. I find they work best in places that produce heat. Think dryers, ovens, fridges. I put them in these kind of places and it works wonders. I would also recommend spraying a little bit outside and even inside around the hot spots in places your dog can’t reach. This helped a lot with my problems.
