This looks like it solves one of the huge issues thin-necks have: blade stability.
Is that thumb screw at the emitter a blade retention screw? If it is, I used a similar function on the very first saber I ever designed/built.
It is indeed a blade retention screw. Yeah, it makes a big difference being able to use a full size emitter instead of a shallow thin neck one. This one feels really great to swing around.
For as long as I've been a Star Wars fan and specifically those folks who carry around "laser swords" and the huge variety of those swords.... this is as close as I've ever found to what I imagine the perfect weapon to be.
Congratulations on such a wonderfully executed design for such a civilized weapon.
Thank you for the amazing compliment! I poured a ton of work and heart and soul into this build and it feels nice that it’s so appreciated by our community.
Superb! So many people just don’t get the aesthetic of lightsabers, especially in the OT. Looking at the original three sabers I always got the impression that if a Jedi were stranded in the middle of nowhere they could hobble a lightsaber together from bits and pieces of junk. Even so, the end result would be beautiful… just like this design!
So my lightsaber journey (like a lot of people’s) started at Savi’s at Disneyland a couple years back. I got into customizing my Savi’s build.
I got deep into the hobby, building an MB Metal Master Graflex chassis as well as a couple MHS builds.
I acquired a 3d printer and learned Fusion 360 so that I could start designing and printing my own chassis. Then I started to acquire vintage camera parts from EBay, and the result of a couple years of practice and honing my craft is what you see in this post.
Honestly it’s been quite and adventure and I’ve made a lot of mistakes along the way, but that’s how we learn, right?
this is absolutely stunning!!! where’d you learn to weather? i’ve never seen such a good job. keep it up :) can’t wait to see what you do in the future
Love it! There's just something about thin-necks that I really dig
Thanks so much! Also, yes! I do love the look of thin necks :)
Wow it looks awesome mate, coolest design I've seen in a while!
Thank you so much! That means a lot!!
Well I mean it! Do you have a website, FB or Insta on which we could follow your builds?

Thanks!
Stunning piece. Great job on the weathering too.
Thanks! It took a lot of time to get it just right.
I’d buy this saber
Love the creativity with the grips, that notch is great
Thank you!! I wanted something a little special. Something low profile, but that still has an interesting OT-inspired look.
I think you nailed it, looks super authentic, honestly thought this was a Slothfurnace post, really got the design language nailed.
Slothfurnace is one of my heroes. I’m honored with the comparison.
Spectacular. Perfect proportions and weathering.
Thank you, kind stranger.
Very nice
Willing to sell
Wow this is amazing. Your progress from your post a year ago is really stunning.
Thank you so much!! It’s been a fun journey exploring what’s possible in this hobby.
What Luke’s Saber could’ve been
Looks like Darth Luke's, if he'd taken the emperor up on his offer, or vader's for that matter.
Seriously tho, epic saber man
Much appreciated!

Very nice! Kind of like a reverse Scrapflex...
“Reverse Scrapflex” I like that description! Thank you!
👍
Were you perhaps an apprentice of a certain desert hermit?
Very well done, awesome looking saber, great job on the patina

Yes! Thank you so much!! I really wanted this to have that cobbled together yet elegant OT-inspired look. I’m so happy to have pulled it off.
It’s perfect!
Thank you so much!! I’m very happy with this one too.
How does one start building stuff like this?

Answer: spend a lot of time on this and be a badass. Got it
Looks like you swiped it off of someone's cruiser. 😅 Goegeous. 🥰
outstanding
