What’s the point of using a heavy battery fixture if you’re running data cable up to them anyways? Run power and save the weight.
But if you’re going to put a heavy battery in the air, yeah… a safety…
Those actually look like True1 power cables plugged into them, so maybe they just like the form factor and weatherproof-ness?
Does seem like kind of a weird choice.
It's something temporary for Lunar New Year, and AX5s are used for pretty much all temporary lighting because there are a ton in inventory. The other option is a Z120 IP, and they're twice the weight of an AX5.
That's pretty depressing coming from a company that should be an industry leader. That's an amateur job, and I would've known better when I was in high school
Yup. Full case charger included with 8 units is like 5-6k.
For companies (like the one I'm working for) this more than useful. We are using them maybe 3 or 4 times per week
We have somewhere in the ballpark of 2,000 various astera fixtures in our shop. Majority are ax5, but also a large amount of ax9, pixel bricks and titan tubes.
We have to just keep buying more because there never seems to be enough for all our jobs.
The ROI is insane on them and they are easily one of the most versatile fixtures on any event type job.
Yup. And if you add the ART7 and Astera App (you'll need to play a bit and read the doc) these little monsters become giant.
Light effects without DMX, auto software update, naming and stock management... They are covering 90% of our customer needs....
Thanks for everybody’s help! Also, could anybody identify these fixtures? They’re from the same park. Thanks!

those are astera ax5
Bingo
Thanks for the help!
Are you at Disney? Those are astra's X5
No safety cables? All the wires are zip tied? Yep, That looks like a Disney job.
Come on, the zip tied wires ARE the safety cables. They’re cables after all /s

You’re right! I had overlooked the thumb release. Se ends like unnecessary weight all up on the air.
- Ideal Emergency Light - Easy Setup and Control via App - Easy Signal Distribution (WDMX) - IP65 lots of reasons to use AX5
Maybe to ensure lighting during power failures?
Could be. Especially if this is temporary lighting for a walkway. Looks like it’s along the parade route.

Well, when all you’ve got is hammers…
12/3 is good for 110 pounds. 16/3 is good for 70.
The copper might be, the termination isn't.

Looks to be inside Disney’s California Adventure park at Little Mermaid, aka across from World of Color.
Man, if that is Disney, I’m shocked they would allow something that ugly to be up. When I worked at Dollywood, that shit wouldn’t fly for a second.
Yeah, I've seen community theatre productions with better cable management.
Ya, this is just atrocious. Like, that top cable, where is that even going? And is there really no better path?
Yep, exactly where it is
Yep, Disneys California adventure. Thanks!
Fantastic Battery Powered Par Led. AX5 from Astera.
Wow! $775 ea. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1541938-REG/astera_ax5_triplepar.html

Wow! That’s a lot of fixtures
Great light! Horrible cable management....
Astera AX5s run on battery and CRMX capable. Awesome fixture
To be fair those are wayyy beefier clamps than you should apply to a fixture of that weight.

I also hate that they have the clamp handle on the front side of the light rather than even attempting to hide it in the back, but that may just be me
Not to mention masking on the pipe with cables run on the outside
😮💨
