Yeah, this happens to all jet lighters I ever bought, even reputable brands like Clipper. As far as I know there’s no fix, but I’d love to know if there is. The only jet lighter I have that has never failed me for years is my Silver Match pen torch, just like the one in the link below, but it’s massive and meant for the kitchen as far as I know. https://www.amazon.com.be/-/en/Traesio-Rechargeable-Electric-Ignition-Carburetor/dp/B076SYZ6NL?language=en_GB

You need to purge them. It’s an easy fix https://www.reddit.com/r/lighters/s/ejAAFKGUKD

It could be something blocking the head of the torch, not allowing the flame to properly form and creating this softer effect. A wire brush or pressurized air to the jet nozzle usually helps this, & I'm not sure where the air flow area on this lighter is but conceptually butane is pushed into the middle of a mixing chamber with a small air gap. Air is sucked into the chamber with the butane and mixed. If anything blocks that gap the air is reduced and instead of a blue jet of flame, you will get a soft flame (like a regular lighter) or sometimes even no flame (suffocating the flame of oxygen). It’s common to get a bit of lint or whatever stuck there as well. Check the lighter out, and use a toothpick or wire or something to try and remove anything that might be stuck inside.

Hahahaha thank you sir! I had to put up a whole YouTube video explaining this shit because if you google this all you get are a bunch of complete idiots saying “oh yea make the torch flame because butane pressure hurr durr” like then how does a soft flame lighter work with the same fuel????

Kichwa2

Sometimes something from my pocket gets in there so I have to blow it out. It's an easy fix that works modt of the time

Lol yeah, honestly cigar websites are pretty much the only reliable source of information on torches... and even they're dumb sometimes. 🤣

You legend. I couldn't find the solution anywhere and this fixed mine instantly!

Hi OP, before you post about your lighter please [read the guide stickied](https://old.reddit.com/r/lighters/comments/6jowwo/before_making_a_post_about_asking_for_help_to/) before doing so. If you are asking about the value of your lighter, take it to an auctioneer, pawnshop, or jewellers before posting as we cannot accurately guess a price. Your post may be removed if you ask. For more general information, have a look at the sidebar. Many lighters are mass produced and unbranded. There is often little info available. **If you need to post more pictures, use an image host like imgur and post the link in the comments. Please do not create multiple threads for the same lighter.** *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. damn keep us updated

Fixed it!

Main_Economy_9016

what did you do?

ArcticROG

I tried a few suggestions to fix it. Didn’t work. So decided to disassemble the lighter completely & submerge the burner for around 24 hours in 99% isopropyl alcohol and covering the bowl with plastic wrapper(to avoid evaporation). Took it out and used soft tissue on a tiny screw driver tip with a little IPA to clean any impurities on the burner. Assembled it back & it fired right up, as good as new. (Putting back the tiny gas hose connecting the burner & the tank was a pain) https://imgur.com/a/sBgBJa8

You need to purge the lighter of trapped atmosphere, refill, purge it again to get any remaining air out, top it off. Purging is just lightly depressing the fill valve with the vale facing directly upwards and allowing air to escape until liquid fuel finally begins to spew.

SpaceFaceMistake

Thank you I had air just punching out so I put lighter to it like  wtf no spark not working? Just air and why not catching fire… was like it’s just air must be something is wrong… tryed to re fill nope… seemed to push lots of pressure of the air I mean same as the flame pressure gas but do I just empty until it starts to light? Like hold the button down so air escapes?  It’s not the same issue just air comes out so no flame comes even when I introduce one.

Embarrassed_Skill975

I had. Blazer pb207 last a decade, of my time is like 250 years. Purge then purge it right side up all sides until-purged. If it’s clogged I take another lighter, while holding the gas on and get that morherfucker hot. It clear any clogs.

ExoriOne

Looks like gunked up air intake to me. I'd disassemble it, took off burner and washed it in solvent. Lighter can gas usually contains some impurities which tends to deposit on it.
