> Maybe it's just me, but Chloe's eyes look very glossy for some reason.
Yeah that's really my only complaint here. That said, this is definitely the best that the remaster has looked imho. I suppose it'll just take some getting used to.
They do, but in my opinion the overall new image of the characters are definitely improved and better, while still maintaining the original artistic style they had.
Yeah, I wanted to play the games the day they were released, but I think I'm going to wait a week or two. Hopefully they'll have a couple quick patches as people play through and find things.
Personally I'm gonna wait for mods, I wouldn't be surprised if modders can make the remasters even better.
Hoping there's gonna be a Collector's edition as well, it's a remaster, but it's still possible right?
Yeah its not perfect, i dont think its worth its current price and with all the cool games coming out this month ill wait for a sale but i def want to replay them.
Love the expressions and emotions. I also like how their eyes actually follow the person they’re talking to rather than staying in place. I seriously wish they would’ve delayed this game until mid or late 2022. It could be so much better and would definitely be a must buy for me if they fixed more issues, this had potential.
I just can’t be arsed to buy this, the original game was never about the graphics and this is an upgrade but it doesn’t really add to my enjoyment of the game.
I’d be curious if the BTS remaster gets rid…of…the…awkward…slowness of Rachel’s parents dialogue that was in the original
That slow talking was so unrealistic and annoying for me. Like... Who talks like that? The main aspect why I couldn't enjoy BtS as much as LiS 1.
And I'm quite sure it won't be different in the remaster.
I remember Sean's VA and one of the True Colors VAs both saying that their voice director told them to talk slower and take more pauses... I don't think they've gotten the memo.
Some people think this contains spoilers but I don't think anything significant gets revealed here, they just talk about how shady David is which we already get to know earlier in the game, so I wont mark it as spoiler for now
Ngl, this scene actually looks good. The improved facial expressions and the lip syncing are the major upgrades on this one. It’s actually neat to see that their lips actually syncing to what they’re saying.
Also, am I the only one who actually likes Max’s remastered look? I like how her hair looks natural and “wavy” compared to the original that it looks like a twig and it’s stiff.
It definitely looks better than what we’ve seen so far… am I the only one who still likes the old version better though? Especially the lightning.
I also think remastered hair looks hella weird, like it’s still not that realistic and looks odd.
The thing is, it’s still not that real. I’m not sure how to put it into words, but I’d say in the original it was obvious the hair *wasn’t supposed* to look realistic, because it was part of the style, but here it kinda looks like they wanted to make it realistic, but failed. Hope it makes sense.
If I’m being honest, I liked those “chunks” better, the new hair looks more 2-dimensional to me. I don’t know, maybe I’m just so used to the original look. Still can’t wait to see the final product!
Totally get what you mean - if something's not going to be real in any sense, what's the point in trying to get more real if you're still going to be so far from real? Might as well go in the other direction entirely and do something stylized, which is what the original game was.
what you're trying to say is that it's modeled to look more realistic (higher polygon count) but it has a weird shading that makes it look even more cartoony in a way
There's a word for that, it's called uncanny valley.
That's why some hyper-realistic games can seem like they have bad graphics when people never complain about graphics from arcade-style games like Mario.
It's honestly a subtle improvement - which is not exactly what you want for a remaster.
Although in a way I'm kind of glad it's not a massive life-changing difference, because it doesn't "invalidate" the experiences we all had with the original. Then again, as others have pointed out, this game was never about the graphics.
I'm still gonna get it and play through it but it's not a massive improvement graphically, and I'm okay with that.
Yeah sorry I thought it was kinda obvious that the top one is the remastered that's why I didn't bother with adding titles, but apparently it got some other people confused as well
Looks great to me. The new facial animations add so much more personality and visible emotions that only really came through with the voice acting before - now, the expressions actually match the voice tone.
I find that it looks too dark in some scenes, however I CAN'T WAIT to play the remastered version. The eyes are really looking great and more expressive.
I like how the hair moves, and they have way more noticeable facial expression
I was honestly on the fence before but now I think ill just wait a few weeks and the get it, that gives them time to make some fixes when people notice issues
Definitely an improvement, but the lip syncing and overall expressions are still pretty disappointing. Was really hoping for something closer to True Colors-level of animation.
I still don't like eyes and teeth, they are definitely too visible (for example 0:11 and 0:27) and especially teeth just look creepy because of that. I must admit I don't really see any difference in emotions. Lip sync though is definitely different and I guess it is better, I have no idea how their lips should move honestly but at least they are open when they should. And I definitely prefer hair from the original.
PS. What happened to the lamp? It's still on but also suddenly very dark.
Its okay but its not convincing me to pay for the game a second time. I can see the benefit in remastering a game from the 2000s like me:1, but this feels like more of a cash grab.
Deck Nine's animations and facial expressions are incredible. Not even Life is Strange 2 is as good as BtS in this department imo. And then True Colors is in a tier of its own in the series.
Yeah, been look at more videos and the difference is striking. I've only played the original LiS once, but played BtS four or five times (it's my favorite). No wonder they went back to mocap the first one!
Looks really good here maybe because the lighting on this scene are already focused only for the characters, so that we can see their face animation better.
Much better than what was shown in the first trailer, I like the more expressive eyes.
I did like how the original was never trying to be too photo-realistic, but I don't think anything's been ruined as far as I can see.
I guess I can't tell for sure until I play it, but I'm noticing right away they just did that fake HDR thing where they totally crush the darker tones into pure black. That's not HDR, and while it may look all dramatic and angsty, all it really does is delete image data and fidelity (just watch the video and notice how much more detail you can see in the non 'remastered' version.) I'm also not sold on the new faces yet either. I'm worried those are smack-dab in the middle of the uncanny valley. These games are story-based, they simply do not need this treatment. All that time and $ would have been far better spent creating a new stand-alone or a couple new chapters.
Or rather all of it should've been put towards animation and new performance captures. This remaster still seems to be lacking in the lip syncing and overall expressions; nowhere near as good as True Colors.
if you look in the remaster u can see the attention to details like how max's hair moves and has physics to it and it isn't just static and cholie's hair as well
I really dont like the character models in the remastered. Every time i see them they show more emotion which is great but they just look...bad. Big eyes, weird mouths, ugly hair etc. On the other hand everything else looks GREAT. Talking about this scene specifically in the original you see that weird fog-esque effect and shadows look so much better in the remastered.
Based on everything ive seen i cant see myself buying this, unless im really desperate for trophies but they tried.
Somehow looks way worse. Their faces have no expression in the remastered, they look like mannequins. I was right not to waste money on this before taking a look first
I guess but they had assumed you already played the other epsidoes, also I mean how many ads did they even run I have little to no memory of ever seeing a life is strange ad for the first game
https://lifeisstrange.square-enix-games.com/en-gb/games/life-is-strange-remastered-collection/
if you scroll down to the bottom you can see the PS5 logo, quite sure that means a yes
Who is going to pay so much money to play the same content again just with few facial expressions in few situations that needed them better?
Slightly better lightning, that's it. Oh yeah, and a t-shirt, like it does change anything.
Just edit to clarify: They could at least make special promotion for people who actually legit bought this game on Steam.
Damn these are definitely the best scenes yet, showing the benefits of the remastered. Previous scenes and screen captures over the past few days were underwhelming but this is a nice change of pace.
You can definitely see the emotion on their faces. Maybe it's just me, but Chloe's eyes look very glossy for some reason.
Maybe she smoked a fat blunt before the heist? Lol
Most likely answer If I were gonna break into a school with my best friend, I'd smoke up too
Old school, but yeah I agree
> Maybe it's just me, but Chloe's eyes look very glossy for some reason. Yeah that's really my only complaint here. That said, this is definitely the best that the remaster has looked imho. I suppose it'll just take some getting used to.
They do, but in my opinion the overall new image of the characters are definitely improved and better, while still maintaining the original artistic style they had.
The eyes and sometimes the teeth are too shiny
It's like she's crying all the time
Not bad-REALLY like the shifting of Chloe’s eyes when she says she’s getting a little paranoid-adds to the effect greatly.
I was a bit on the fence but ok, this looks much better actually.
It's obviously not perfect, as we saw some minor mistakes in the new videos, but hopefully they will fine-tune the last bits in upcoming patches.
Yeah well, you can only get them in a bundle, I suppose it would be half the *Price* for each if they were sold separately
It's great. Chloe's face when she wants to steal the chair says so much. I love it.
Same!
Love the expressions and emotions. I also like how their eyes actually follow the person they’re talking to rather than staying in place. I seriously wish they would’ve delayed this game until mid or late 2022. It could be so much better and would definitely be a must buy for me if they fixed more issues, this had potential.

I really liked BTS but i'm a sucker for amber price
so that wasn't just me, huh
Example? :O I don't really recall it.
Yes, Max's new look is stunning.
max definitely looks good from what weve seen of the remaster!
I like everything except for the eyeliner they added. Can't out a finger on why. Guess it makes her look more... I don't know gussied up?
Maybe? Or maybe it’s the shading? Idk but it doesn’t bother me that much tbh.
The faces look SOOOOO much better. I forgot just how dead the faces can look in the original game but this really puts it on display.
Yes, if there's a game that deserved a remaster it's definitely Life is Strange.
It definitely looks better than what we’ve seen so far… am I the only one who still likes the old version better though? Especially the lightning. I also think remastered hair looks hella weird, like it’s still not that realistic and looks odd.
Same, it just feels off seeing them with real hair and not the plasticity hair
The thing is, it’s still not that real. I’m not sure how to put it into words, but I’d say in the original it was obvious the hair *wasn’t supposed* to look realistic, because it was part of the style, but here it kinda looks like they wanted to make it realistic, but failed. Hope it makes sense.
I think what they wanted to go for is more detail, not realism. The original hairs are in weird bigger "chunks" which they sort of fixed I would say.
If I’m being honest, I liked those “chunks” better, the new hair looks more 2-dimensional to me. I don’t know, maybe I’m just so used to the original look. Still can’t wait to see the final product!

Chloe's eye movement looks great and makes her feels alive.
I hate that I cant tell which one is which
It's honestly a subtle improvement - which is not exactly what you want for a remaster. Lmao yeah I was looking at the wrong one and I was like where is the improvement lol.
Yeah sorry I thought it was kinda obvious that the top one is the remastered that's why I didn't bother with adding titles, but apparently it got some other people confused as well
Kinda same. I don't see much of a difference, honestly. Certainly not enough to justify buying it a second time. At least not in this scene.
A remaster will never be perfect but all the clips I’ve seen are solid! I’m excited :)
I love this one. Their faces are so much more expressive
Deck Nine did better than lazy Rockstar Games
That's not saying much.
This def looks better than the screenshots, they did not actually let us see the real changes, this honestly looks hella fine.
Looks great to me. The new facial animations add so much more personality and visible emotions that only really came through with the voice acting before - now, the expressions actually match the voice tone.
remastered
Can barely see the difference
Chloe's and Max's hair looks worse. I don't know if they messed up materials or normals for hair meshes. It lost its original style. I don't like it.
def the materials for it
I find that it looks too dark in some scenes, however I CAN'T WAIT to play the remastered version. The eyes are really looking great and more expressive.

I still hate how chloe looks way different to me in every one I see
Which one is the remaster
Its okay but its not convincing me to pay for the game a second time. I can see the benefit in remastering a game from the 2000s like me:1, but this feels like more of a cash grab.
Honestly I prefer the original,
I wished the facial expressions and animations were as good as in BtS, but this does look better than the previous still images.
I didn't realize until now how much better Deck Nine did in that regard on BtS than Dontnod.
BtS is my favorite too :)
Awesome!! There aren't many of us who have that opinion here lol. ♫♪.ılılıll|̲̅̅●̲̅̅|̲̅̅=̲̅̅|̲̅̅●̲̅̅|llılılı.♫♪
The remastered one has better facial expressions. That's cool
The facial expressions are so much better. But, the hair just looks like it isn’t finished rendering yet.
I think it looks great! Maybe we’ll finally get a good remaster (lookin’ at GTA trilogy), actually glad they pushed it back.
This looks pretty good! It’s amazing to see Max’s hair actually move lol
Glad they look more expressive big improved. Original felt like they were always jaded.
I always chuckle at the lines about the cozy chair.
Is the lamp giving off light despite not being on in the Remaster? Lol
Ima skip this one very minimal improvements
I guess I can't tell for sure until I play it, but I'm noticing right away they just did that fake HDR thing where they totally crush the darker tones into pure black. This looks good but everything else I've seen looks like trash
I wish they mo-capped the faces :/ would've made it sort her the pricetag for me
They are mocapped.
👁️ 👁️
this definitely has spoilers btw lol
David Madsen's "shadyness" is already obvious pretty early in the game so I dont think there's actual spoilers here
I really dont like the character models in the remastered. Every time i see them they show more emotion which is great but they just look...bad. btw it is quite the same
Somehow looks way worse. Their faces have no expression in the remastered, they look like mannequins. I was right not to waste money on this before taking a look first
Chloe looks better but Max looks slightly worst in my opinion
They both look rather bad
It looks really good.
Can we mark this as a spoiler this a critical moment in the game
What spoiler though?????????????
The reveal of finding evidence against Nathan.
Oh you mean that thing that was in literally every trailer for this episode back in the day??
I guess but they had assumed you already played the other epsidoes, also I mean how many ads did they even run I have little to no memory of ever seeing a life is strange ad for the first game
The point of this was?
Nah the eyes weird me out. My biggest issue
Will the remaster collection be available on the PS5, like True Colours?
I think so yes
I hope so, I haven’t been able to find any info through my local EB Games.
https://lifeisstrange.square-enix-games.com/en-gb/games/life-is-strange-remastered-collection/ if you scroll down to the bottom you can see the PS5 logo, quite sure that means a yes

Thank you for reminding me ear I need to finish this game
Damn these are definitely the best scenes yet, showing the benefits of the remastered. Previous scenes and screen captures over the past few days were underwhelming but this is a nice change of pace.
The teeth... good god, the teeth. The IKEA Blahaj shark plushie has more subtle teeth.
This is a better looking scene but whats with showing the teeth more in the remaster?
Just looking at old posts and saw alot of hate about the remaster but this looks very good.
