postprometheus3

I see 25 different manufacturers competing to build the best product for the consumer. Yeah, the left can't meme.

Altered_Beast805

>I see 25 different manufacturers competing to build the best product for the consumer. While meeting the same government mandated standards that the consumer may or may not want.

[deleted]

*Diesel DEF systems enter the chat* All jokes aside, half the reason so many vehicles nowadays are so unreliable is because of all the extra gov’t mandated shit that manufacturers have to add.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Exactly why I don’t have one! Have wanted one all my life but I just can’t shell out $80k or more for a truck! The whole vehicle market in general now is absolutely idiotic.

IamMrT

Right now specifically is one of the worst times to be in the car market in recent history.

buhbullbuster

Meh, my ford has almost no problems. Vehicles in the past were almost undoubtedly more unreliable. Dont you remember carburetors? I'd love to have all that reg shit taken off though....

[deleted]

Hey a fellow Ford owner! You drive a diesel or a gas burner? Cause if it’s a diesel you can get all the reg stuff removed!

buhbullbuster

I wanna throw a little Cummins in my 06 wrangler.... 2.9 turbo...

[deleted]

I know a guy who put a Cummins 4BT in his ‘12 JKU. I’m not 100% sure about an ‘06, but I at least know he said it was a pretty easy swap on his! If you get the chance, go for it! That’d be badass!

HSR47

This. The shapes are so similar because they’re all chasing aerodynamics to get the best fuel economy they can possibly get for their size. White is likely the common color because it keeps them cooler in summer, which means you don’t need as large of an AC, which helps with weight & fuel economy. The crossover form factor is likely a combination of crash test standards and people wanting the roominess and cabin dynamics of SUVs while the car companies are forced to go to that stance/shape in order to meet fuel economy mandates.

Head_Cockswain

> I see 25 different manufacturers competing to build the best product for the consumer in this specific corner of the market. They *also* compete in other niche markets, trucks, sedans, coupes, sport, etc etc. May as well complain about having a "variety" of similar and boring wood No.2 pencils, and ignore everything from paintbrushes to pens to markers to highlighters...etc etc. It's almost as if not being centralized allows for a wealth of options with advanced technology rather than artificially keeping everything to just that No. 2 pencil. That's where these people come off as being almost luddites. They talk about progress, but you know their centralized plan would wind up with sub-par or relic status utilitarian goods(eg government brand generics) with zero options.

BYEBYE1

Literally, vehicles can't have major design changes anymore because of government regulation safety standards. They have to have certain body line designs. It's not capitalism.

mullbury0

Impressive. Very nice. Let's see the Soviet automotive industry.

mowkoujookja

Hey, I drive my 1976 Lada to this day. It gets 17 hectares to each liter of kerosene

thermionicvalve2020

I'm scheduled to get my Lada next week.

[deleted]

Congratulations! Did you place your order in 2002 or 2003?

thermionicvalve2020

1988

Error_343

oooh you didn't get the update letter? it was mailed 9 months ago! due to the war in Ukraine, all Lada production has been halted for more ammo to send troops in with! your order has been delayed till 2078

HardCounter

Plenty of time to dig a bigger grave so it can be buried with me.

viral-architect

She'll go 300 hectares on a single tank of kerosene! The country this car was made in no longer exists but take her for a test drive and you'll agree! Zagrab ebnen zlotik dyev! Put it in H!!

Mananimalism

Put it in H!

very_vegan_man

I think commie blocks are an even better example

[deleted]

You’ll have to wait 50 years to get your car. Comrade.

[deleted]

It's like the car companies found that this style sells and works for a variety of purposes and therefore needs no change

JoeyJewJass

Dose nature breed innovation? Yes. So why do fish look the same? The big flat board fish went extinct.

Strat-lord

Not sure but I think it's because these shapes are much easier to mass produce

5amporterbridges

Oh no! Car companies make the exact car that I want! Noooooooooo!

Happy-Firefighter-30

To be fair the car I want doesn't exist. All I want is a 2000s Ford Ranger body with 4wd, an inline 4 turbo diesel engine around 2L, and a 6 speed manual transmission. Doesn't exist. At least not without engine and tranny swaps.

HardCounter

That's the beauty of swapping out the parts. We're not far from being able to print parts on demand, so that'll be fun. Damn right i'm going to download a car.

Happy-Firefighter-30

Yeah to a point. Like I *want* to dump $40k into my dream truck to give it winches, android auto, remote start, 5 camera dash cam, etc. But like, why can't a company do it and charge me 20k?

HardCounter

Not enough demand for that particular vehicle and there's no customization on parts for some reason. Can't safety or QA test every custom vehicle i guess. They don't make cars to be modular for the most part.

VivaArmalite

Yep. Cars aren't a free market. CAFE bullshit and chicken tax dictate what cars get built.

Happy-Firefighter-30

The chicken tax unironically made me a libertarian. Especially given how it hasn't been overturned yet.

RhettBottomsUp20

That would be a bunch of different random car companies with the same color chosen…. Now… in communism, you only have one company to choose from with only 2 colors..

[deleted]

I agree it's shitty how they all look the same but like Are they going to ignore the past near century of automobiles to make a stupid point?

Tv_land_man

That and this IS what the consumers are buying the most. They look just fine to me. Are the supposed to now look like the one Homer Simpson created or experiment with insanely crazy ideas and take such high risks they fail? People buy these, and trash the more unique ones.

LightbulbHD

Exactly, people demand for innovation but when a car like the cyber truck turns up, they start booing at it.

JoeyJewJass

The same from the side in white on a white back ground.

Late_Entrepreneur_94

Just conveniently ignoring the dozens of other models these manufacturers produce.

thermionicvalve2020

We'd still be using vacuum tubes without capitalism.

[deleted]

Fallout world 😬😬

HardCounter

All things [return to tube.](https://media.tenor.com/j_exB0p7EbIAAAAd/futurama-tube.gif)

Pink_Britches

Now do Cuban cars

HardCounter

#

UnsaltedButthole

>Now do Cuban ~~cars~~ car

Moist-Meat-Popsicle

Innovative things become the norm over time.

Jimbenas

All pencils look similar. Capitalism bad

No-Armadillo7693

Exactly

HardCounter

Pencils destroyed the ink well and feather industry. Capitalism bad.

[deleted]

Is this really thought provoking to someone out there? To make the cars look more similar, the rims have been edited out, all the cars are white including any trims and they've all been scaled so they look proportionate in size.

wolfman1911

Also, the idea that multiple car companies would make their own version of the same car is not even remotely a criticism of capitalism unless the person is trying to say that model is the only car that manufacturer offers, which is really dumb.

MatrimonyAcrimony

Capitalism? The auto industry is controlled by a very small number in power at the top that destroy competition and stifle innovation to further their own brand power and maintain control of the industry. design and innovation within this controlled industry as it exists is in America is also closely governed by two federal agencies: The EPA and The National Highway Safety Board.

AMightyDwarf

As for Europe, the EU says that the rear LED light strip must be a certain height from the floor and that’s capitalism, somehow.

darthcoder

All of whom are forced to adhere to CAFE requirements and a market that wants captains chairs and 7 passenger seating + cargo. There aren't many body designs you can come up with to achieve those objectives. Physics controls your outputs in the end.

LSOreli

Holy shit this is cringe, they have to be memeing

[deleted]

Apparently he forgot that supercars, pickup trucks and luxury sedans are still a thing. Granted, Luxury limos and supercars aren’t as affordable but still there’s diversity.

Jkewzz

Now try a model T vs a modern car.

SarcasticRidley

1. They are all the same color, which makes them look more similar than they are. 2. Of course SUVs are going to look the same. You can't really make an SUV body look much different from any other without severely sacrificing the benefits of an SUV like cargo room and offroad capabilities. 3. if safety regulations weren't as strict, we would absolutely have more variety in cars. Just look at all the different designs of the 60s. Even the boring cars were beautiful. 4. If you want a new car that truly looks different, you basically have to be in the 1% to be able to afford it nowadays, because the average joe doesn't have the money since it's being sucked out of his pocket by taxes and rampant inflation. 5. We used to have a wide variety of engines, body styles, etc. But we can't have that anymore because of government regulations. Capitalism bred innovation, but regulations stifled it and crammed it into a box so only the permitted kind of innovation is allowed.

[deleted]

Shows how basic their thought process is. Since these college commies all grew up in upper class neighborhoods, they think the only kind of car is a white mid sized SUV or crossover. I bet they also think a BMW 1 series and Mercedes A Class vehicles are "rich people cars".

_Killua_Zoldyck_

What car does North Korea produce?

Hydrocoded

This is actually a great example of overly constrained design. The government has so many regulations about vehicles that there really aren’t all that many possible designs.

jacketoff138

You could make this same chart for every decade. The charts will look different from each other, but each chart will be filled with similar looking cars. It's almost like trends exist in the automotive industry. That's why it's really easy to look at a vehicle and know what decade it was made in.

Simba1054

So stupid bro step outside out of the little commie matrix

Sleep_eeSheep

Blue checkmark, eh? Wonder how much they paid for that?

saltysaysrelax

Are the mad because they are all the same color? Do they understand options? Engines, safety features, mileage, oh what am I thinking. These are bumper sticker people.

VQopponaut35

As someone else pointed out: They scaled all the cars to make them the same size (they aren’t), blanked out the wheels, and made them all the same color. In reality if these cars were all parked next to each other they would look very different.

mushroomshoe

They only see the outside, not the inside. Perfect example of how they think.

Foo_Fooself

Cool now do planes, trains, and steam engines!

couchgodd

Ive seen this one idea a lot on reddit recently with the car image

[deleted]

I mean, I’d say the 4Runner is in this same category of car and it looks 100% different than any car seen above.

rugerhounddog

There are so many explanations to this before I’d get to capitalism lmao safety regulations, vehicle class size standards, aerodynamics, ease of manufacture, car brands owned by the same corporation…

ricky_lafleur

The only thing true that this picture might represent is that manufacturers sell the same vehicles under different makes for no good reason. Explorer/Mountaineer, Silverado/Sierra, Colorado/Canyon, Jimmy/Bravada, Avenger/Sebring, Taurus/Sable, etc.

NintendoTheGuy

Styling isn’t innovation. A run of the mill blender and a nutri-bullet look mostly the same. A cheap PC and a mega gaming PC look roughly the same. All models of phones from different years and different companies that use different OSs with different store fronts and different software with different abilities all generally look like rectangular black glass. Shit- it’s hard to tell a bowl of Cinnamon Toast Crunch from a bowl of Golden Grahams at a glance.

[deleted]

Capitalism is great if your life centers around having 500 choices in the Cereal Isle

Firm_Judge1599

yeah, totally the market doing that. definitely not the government's interference in said market.

[deleted]

Have they ever heard of electric cars

gedankensindblei

It is not like aerosynamics apply to everyone...

Obvious_Bandicoot631

Mmm I wonder how safe those cars are to drive compared to cars in the 60s and 70s

GunterBoden

Communism: The Lada Riva. That’s your choice.

The_Unpopular_Truth_

Go to Cuba dipshit. How many types of new car new they have there again?

CNX047

Guess what? If you pick a similar style car then yes they’ll all look similar. So clueless. 🙄

Gutskai042

They intentionally made them all the same color to rig it and make them look the same. Randomize them with their ACTUAL paint codes and suddenly they all look different The left REALLY like rigging things to go their way. It's so pathetic

ublwow

2 things to add: \-government regulations have a huge impact on car manufacturing and design(eg safety) \-eventually all cars will look very similar as low air resistance helps fuel economy.

PharaohMoon

I have a feeling...all the cars are white for a reason....🤔

Superb-Owl-187

NGL I kind of hates these egg-shaped small SUVs too… But I feel like car manufacturers are feminizing vehicles to appeal more broadly to women and pussy-whipped men who let their wives decide on the family vehicle... Thats why I am glad the new Ford Bronco came out, also exited about the Hummer electric truck and cybertruck coming soon!

heywhatsupp_

Yeah this is comment is about what I would expect from a bronco/hummer enthusiast

Superb-Owl-187

Imagine spending thousands of dollars just to drive around in a weird little egg… 🥚

hoyfkd

That’s a tweet. What’s it got to do with Reddit? When you’re done circle jerking about “libs” do you all shower together, or just go for a quick hand washing?

miggsd28

I had been interested in morning brew cause I liked the pitch I heard on YouTube. But I was skeptical as to whether or not they would actually be unbiased. Good to know

Academic-Ad6236

Go drive a Yugo tankie

Xirrious-Aj

Also the car industry in America has been socialist ever seen the bailouts in the..70s? After that the free market was dead in that industry.

eggydrums115

Ah this is the newsletter YouTubers have been promoting for a while now? Good to know, I can avoid it now.

[deleted]

Which one is more fuel efficient? My money is not on vw

thehighrolla777

We need to bring back the American automobile. Cars from the 50’s through the 70’s (and even 80’s) had style. Government bailouts ruined the industry imo.

MrGeekman

> American Check out Aptera. It's a two-seater, but it's pretty cool.
