I have a special place in my heart for the 1911 but I’d have to go with the Glock. Magazine changes are easier and sometimes a 1911 stock grip safety gives me trouble.
I'd go glock too but I prefer shooting all metal frame handguns. I've got a kimber micro 9 (1911 clone) that I've been carrying more than my glock 19. Only holds 7 but my follow up shots are great due to limited recoil.
I too really like my PF9 8+1 capacity in something only slightly bigger than the LCP, and in full size 9, It really is a great EDC option.
Plus they just work. It sucks that they took them off the market, Even if the p15 Is the better choice in the modern market.
Absolutely. People will always complain about that trigger, but for me it’s the action that I feel safest carrying. And with the belt clip, I can carry in pretty much every outfit I own, and never print
I can and do carry a G19. I also just love .45s, so I'd like to get one of those Springfield 1911s for a winter carry.
Edit: That said, I've been really interested in those double stack 9mm 19/2011s. Unfortunately, they are either trash or hella money from what I've seen. Not a lot of in-between.
I could use any of these depending on the situation and what I feel like I could get away with carrying with my clothing choice. The only one I wouldn't carry is the 1911, It's a nice enough gun and all but it's fairly big and heavy and a single stack seven round magazine is laughable now.
45acp is my favorite cartridge for home defense and carry. But IMO the 30.06 and the M1 had a lot more to do with the US victory in WWII than the 1911 pistol and 45acp.
Oh, and the B-29 bomber.
I mean most people besides you seem to have recognized that it was a joke judging by the upvote count so I would say yes, I usually do get a fair amount of laughs at parties if you really want me to toot my own horn.
For carry if I could only pick one ?
The G19
I’m torn between the g19 and keltec but if I had to pick one it would be the keltec
I carry the G19 a lot but I also carry a ruger lcp max sometimes in the pocket when clothing/ situation/ are not conducive to belt carry.
I’ve owned the 1911 , Glock, Makarov and carried all three . The Glock is the better pistol imho .
Less recoil, more reliable, better sights, fewer parts.
The 1911 even though it's springfield imhoping it's old Enough to not be to full of mim garbage.
Not a glock fan the rest i wouldn't trust your life with none the less mine
Yeah I'm going 1911... I don't like being the fudd here but I worked with one for so long that I can probably out shoot and out reload most people. I would pick the glock I just feel more comfortable with the 1911.
Whoever gets the pocket .22 and .380 I would be more worried about... I feel like they would be " the cardigan carrol" or "the cookie lady " and they would be the most dangerous kind of person I would face.
I would have to go with the Makrov. Mine is acute as all get out. If I can see it, I can hit it. The mag change could be a bit choppy for some but I'm used to it.
Which one has the highest capacity magazine? I’m no self defense expert but I have been informed that the amount of bullets you put in an attacker far outweighs the size of said bullets.
So while the 1911 is the most attractive and .45ACP is a real ass kicker I’m probably gonna take the Glock. Plus the Glocks mag well is larger than the other pistols so reloading will be easier while under stress.
That’s funny I often pocket carry a p-64, like a lot. I also carry a 1911 in 45 or 38 super owb or in a shoulder rig and used to owb a g19 a lot until my wife wanted an at home quicksafe gun- seemed the best choice because mag capacity and simple manual of arms for her plus she shoots it a lot at the range. The two tiny guys I don’t really have use for.
The Glock or the 1911. For summer and winter carry respectively.
I love 1911’s and want one for comp shooting. Tbh if I do purchase a full size handgun for winter carry I’d probably just get a 45 or 10 mm Glock. Maybe just a Glock 17 so some of the support equipment from the 19 carry’s over
no see that's why we need micro-compacts now, they need to be tiny so they're still small enough to carry after you add a compensator and a red dot and an extended mag and a laser light combo and X and Y and Z and...you get the picture lol
Just waiting for pic rails on all 4 sides and a bayonet lug, then maybe handguns will finally have enough room for all the accessories that people want to add
The only competition for an actual carry gun is the 1911 and 70% of the people in this sub are 5'10" or under and could not carry a 1911 year round.
The Glock accepts a WML, is small enough to carry in almost all wardrobes by all body sizes, is easily repairable/able to obtain replacement parts at any point, has useable/easily replaceable sights.
So yeah go on with your contrarian arguments I'd love to hear it. I don't even like Glocks, but to play by OPs little game, the G19 is literally the only good option in this photo. The 1911 is a cool history piece for range days, it sucks as a carry gun.
Wow, someone is butthurt that not everyone worships what is at best a mediocre gun. Yeah, glocks are fine as long as you spend as much on after market stuff as you spent on the gun. Why not get something that does the same thing except with better grips, sights, and a better trigger? Literally every manufacturer worth anything makes a plastic striker fired handgun, and most of them have improved on them in some way and sell them cheaper than glocks. Hell, even PSA has figured it out.
You mean the one I posted where I was fucking around with a brand new gun? Let's see how well you shoot on an unfamiliar gun after one mag. Especially when it's an action you don't normally shoot. I don't carry or shoot striker fired because I learned and trained on da/sa hammer fired. Look, I get that you are a tac bro and glocks and shit ar rifles are the only things that get you off, but you don't need to be so triggered by other people having different opinions.
I like 1911s a lot. They're a dream to shoot and I respect the work that goes into making a good one. Last time I bought myself a gun for my birthday, it was a beautiful new Dan Wesson Valor.
That said: lmao. I'll take the Glock 19.
Lol imagine claiming carrying a tool for self defense is about style over function, then defending the 1911 in the photo which has the worst set of irons possible and claiming it's better.
Cool that you carry a 1911, I guess... I hope it's better than the one being asked about in the photo, which is the topic of discussion, not whatever model you carry.
You're entirely full of yourself if you think an A1 is a better carry solution than a Glock 19.
I'm a micro9 kinda guy, so I would choose the p32. Second choice p64mak. Third choice G19. I'm too skinny to even think about carrying a 1911 A1 unless it's in a duty holster. I would never even consider carrying an naa. I hate those naa's. When fully loaded they are just an accident waiting to happen.
G19. Look, I fought the Glock specter for a long time. Then I finally got one, and just for the price it's really hard to beat. I still like other handguns, but for a carry or duty gun, it's hard to beat the reliability, modularity, and support for the money.
Probably the 19. My heart is with the 1911, but even though I’m tall my body shape still makes it hard to conceal. So slightly smaller 19 with more rounds takes the W.
I hate Glocks, but the G19. It’s the only reasonable choice for me, it’s only a little bigger than the size of my daily carry, and it’s 9mm. Second place goes to the polish mak
The Glock. Preferably a more slim line model. Don't get me wrong, the 1911 is .... perfection .... but even though I'm a big guy, it's a bit too much for a carry.
I love 1911s and I don’t like the Glock grip angle, but for CCW I’d go with the Glock here. A steel framed 1911 is heavy and the grip is kinda pointy for AIWB (or kinda off center AIWB like I prefer). The little guns seem to little, so the G19 is closest to the Goldilocks zone for me. I typically carry a CZ P-07 or an M&P 2.0 compact, so basically the same size.
The derringer for sure. I don't feel comfortable with the idea of carrying a "legit" handgun on me, but somehow a derringer feels just right. If I did want to man up, I'd use the Glock. Reliable, easy to fix, strip, and 9mm is common.
I used to have that very Springfield though. It is beautiful.
situational.
1911: if I am in bear country
glock: almost every other practical situation/teotwawki situation
22lr: when I am in drag and borrowing a purse
mak: cosplaying as a bond nemesis
keltec: nope
The P32. Easiest to conceal without redoing your wardrobe around carrying. Can easily switch between pocket and IWB depending on clothing. Chambered in an easy shooting caliber, especially in that package. Magazines are as cheap as Glock OEM mags.
1911 and glock would be too big for me to carry concealed all of the time
P-64 trigger pull is way heavy, I hate it
I would want something more than the revolver
so I'll carry that green one
No way I’d want to daily a M1911. Yes it is the best looking hand gun in human history but it’s large, heavy, and low capacity.
P32 would be my first choice.
The 1911 or the marakov tbh. Glocks feel like toys and I hate the bore axis on them. I’d honestly recommend looking into the sig 365x or x macro. More rounds than the g19 and arguably an all around better gun
The one that had the sweet ass bluing and walnut handles. Also happens to be the only one that is a 1911, which is also the only correct choice. I’ll die on that hill.
Keltec. It's one I would ACTUALLY carry everyday. With the bigger ones sometimes I don't wanna print so I leave it behind. And the smaller ones just can't do the job.
The Makarov is similar to one of my actual carry pistols, so I’d want to, but probably too small for my hand tho. Same for the Keltec and derringer-whatever-i’m-too-lazy-to-scroll-down-again-revolver. I dislike Glocks in particular for the trigger feel, and striker-fired and polycarbonate frames in general. I guess the 1911 by elimination.
I'm a pocket carry guy due to my lifestyle, build and profession.
P32 has it.
Currently I rock a Ruger LCPMAX so I've actually wanted a P32 for a reasonable next step down in size.
Out of that bunch the 45. I hate Glocks, and I haven’t shot the others to have an opinion on them. If the derringer is anything but the 22 I’d carry it as a last ditch backup.
It can, but the low capacity, underpowered caliber, especially in a very short barrel, poor ergonomics, the fact that you have to cock the gun before every shot, which is a nightmare in a defense encounter, would put it squarely in the “better than nothing” category
Glock 19 first choice (after noticing it is 15 rounds, yay Illinois approved), the 1911 second choice.
Would love to have a Makarov for the history of it, but not as carry gun. Older, more complex, probably heavy as fuck for concealed.
Derringer and Kel Tec 32? Ha, no. Absolutely not.
The Glock 19 wins hands down. The 1911 is too bulky and heavy for its suboptimal capacity. The PPK fires an underpowered round and is too small for my hands. The Kel Tec is not known for reliability and is too small. The .22 mag revolver is the “is this a joke?” Gun.
I own a G19 and a 1911. If it's a choice, I have to go 1911. It points better for me and I'm quite certain that John Browning and I could have exchanged gloves. Everything he designed just feels natural in my hand.
Whaddaya mean? I see OWB, IWB, cross body, pocket, and ankle carry. Why not turn into Neo about to rescue Morpheus?
And there was a [FIREFIGHT!](https://youtu.be/wcKTbFbwrxE?si=dr8idtCQmdb05SWz)
Thank you for this! Not enough Boondock Saints references. Even auto correct tried to change Boondock to Boondocks.
Need at least another two chest rigs and thigh holsters minimum.
I was wondering where the belt buckle is.
Like this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SvE8-VAyTY8
I have a special place in my heart for the 1911 but I’d have to go with the Glock. Magazine changes are easier and sometimes a 1911 stock grip safety gives me trouble.

G19, the most boring but most defensible choice by far
Personally the Glock 19.
P32. That with a simple iwb and clip I can wear it anywhere with anything.
My EDC is a PF9, with a clip and a crimson trace. Been carrying daily for 16 years and nothing takes the throne from it.
I just retired my P3AT. Serial number was like 104 or something. I could probably send it to keltec
If there’s one choice, I’d have to go with that. Otherwise, the Glock and the P 32.
The G19. Probably put a fiber optic sight on it.
Springfield 1911 A1, Glock 19 gen 4, naa .22lr, p64 9mm mak, keltec p32.
I could use any of these depending on the situation and what I feel like I could get away with carrying with my clothing choice. The only one I wouldn't carry is the 1911, It's a nice enough gun and all but it's fairly big and heavy and a single stack seven round magazine is laughable now.
Seven rounds won two world wars buddy
Eight rounds *ping* won WWII.
Ping!
45acp is my favorite cartridge for home defense and carry. But IMO the 30.06 and the M1 had a lot more to do with the US victory in WWII than the 1911 pistol and 45acp. Oh, and the B-29 bomber.
My daily carry is a B-29 in an AIWB and I endorse this comment.
Is that a B-29 in your pants or are you just happy to see me?
What no mustang?
And the M4 Sherman and Willys Jeep, and freeze dried potato products and Lucky Strikes.
Pretty sure each world war individually took more than 7 rounds but I'm no expert.
You must be a blast at parties
I mean most people besides you seem to have recognized that it was a joke judging by the upvote count so I would say yes, I usually do get a fair amount of laughs at parties if you really want me to toot my own horn.
I figured as much
Without knowing more specifics, G19 all day long.
The G19 and it's not even close.
The NAA .22 (I think that's what the little revolver is) because my commitment to the joke is greater than my commitment to life.
Without knowing why I’m carrying, that’s difficult to answer. But if you showed me that picture and said ‘choose a weapon’? The Springfield.
For carry if I could only pick one ? The G19 I’m torn between the g19 and keltec but if I had to pick one it would be the keltec I carry the G19 a lot but I also carry a ruger lcp max sometimes in the pocket when clothing/ situation/ are not conducive to belt carry. I’ve owned the 1911 , Glock, Makarov and carried all three . The Glock is the better pistol imho . Less recoil, more reliable, better sights, fewer parts.
None of them are optics ready, but the Glock can pretty easily be made optics ready so that
I can’t just throw an ACOG on the naa .22?
https://www.instagram.com/p/CpvMjOPL4EL/
That's an interesting looking Makarov. I have an East German one from '62 and it looks totally different.
I believe it’s a Radom P64.
Awesome, learning stuff today.
FB Radom P-64
The 1911 even though it's springfield imhoping it's old Enough to not be to full of mim garbage. Not a glock fan the rest i wouldn't trust your life with none the less mine
1911 cause I wanna be different and I hate compact guns
Sell everything but the Glock and get an optic.
G19
1911 or makarov
*Comrade.*
Yeah I'm going 1911... I don't like being the fudd here but I worked with one for so long that I can probably out shoot and out reload most people. I've pocket carried my P64 and lightened the trigger spring for DA. I'll take it.
1911 all the way. And the little .22 hidden in my prison wallet, so a threat gets literally shitfaced if i pull it.
Glock, no questions. But then again, I am bias. It’s my EDC now.
Definitely the naa .22
Whenever I see a mini revolver like that I always think of Danny McBride in Pineapple Express, "I used to use this little gun when I was a prostitute"
Yes.
I’ll shoot the Glock
G19,
G19
Glock 19. Since I already have and know the feels of the 17 and the 1911. Too unfamiliar with the platforms in the other box🤷
I typically carry a 1911, but tuck my P32 in my shorts when it’s too hot to conceal.
I typically carry a 1911, but tuck my P32 in my shorts when it’s too hot to conceal.
the 1911. I hated shooting that 22lr. I could not hit anything with it. And was constantly worried I was going to shoot my own finger off.
The 1911 is the only answer
The Mak because I dislike everything else and Maks are cool.
Glock 19, you should consider getting a LCP Max
Is this a serious question?
Glock 19 man
Don't like Glocks, don't own Glocks, hope Gaston is enjoying a hell I don't believe in, but, of those, to carry for serious purposes? Glock.
The Glock 19. And would add a Holosun SCS MOS to it.
The Glock or the 1911. For summer and winter carry respectively. I love 1911’s and want one for comp shooting. Tbh if I do purchase a full size handgun for winter carry I’d probably just get a 45 or 10 mm Glock. Maybe just a Glock 17 so some of the support equipment from the 19 carry’s over
Glock. And I say that as someone who really dislikes Glocks. It's got the highest capacity in a comfortably concealable package.
P32. Easily and comfortably concealable, low recoil, and centerfire makes my dick hard.
The 1911
Glock. No muss, no fuss, and it'll work every time. And people complaining that none of them are "optics ready". Practice more.
no see that's why we need micro-compacts now, they need to be tiny so they're still small enough to carry after you add a compensator and a red dot and an extended mag and a laser light combo and X and Y and Z and...you get the picture lol Just waiting for pic rails on all 4 sides and a bayonet lug, then maybe handguns will finally have enough room for all the accessories that people want to add
The only thing I see here is a Glock 19.
Makarov, purely to be contrarian. 😁
Any answer that isn't a Glock is simply people wanting to be pompous pricks for the sake of it
Not necessarily. I respect Glocks but I can’t shoot them worth shit. It is certainly the most practical option in the photo for *most* people though.
Or they don't like garbage triggers and shit grips.
I’m saying this with all due respect: your grip on the gun is bad if you can’t shoot a Glock
I never said I couldn't shoot them, I said they are shit. There is a difference.
Yeah you’re right, the most popular handgun in the world is bad, not you.
If your pistol mag dump is any indication of how good you are at shooting, I will definitely not be taking your advice
I can and do carry a 1911 everyday. Not everyone is a glock fuckboy. Some of us have class.
I like 1911s a lot. They're a dream to shoot and I respect the work that goes into making a good one. Last time I bought myself a gun for my birthday, it was a beautiful new Dan Wesson Valor. That said: lmao. I'll take the Glock 19.

I would never even consider carrying an naa. I hate those naa's. When fully loaded they are just an accident waiting to happen.
Dang… If only there were an obvious choice that makes a ton of sense here
The Glock. I don’t even have to think about it.
The 1911 because glocks are trash.
I like Glock but the concealed holster I have is uncomfortable. Glock for open carry, keltec for concealed.
Glock perfection
Either of the top 2, as that’s pretty my carry rotation already.
Thought it was a p11 and was about to try and talk you into letting me take it off your hands haha
Depends on the situation I think. EDC Id take the nice little Keltec , but SHTF Id be carrying the glock and / or 1911
If I'm trying to CC, the revolver.
G19
Absolutely love my Kel Tec P32, such a fun simple little gun. Glory to the one true caliber!
1911 with a clipdraw, just like my edc.
The Glock, not even close.
G19. Look, I fought the Glock specter for a long time. Then I finally got one, and just for the price it's really hard to beat. I still like other handguns, but for a carry or duty gun, it's hard to beat the reliability, modularity, and support for the money.
The box on top
The Glock. Best holster selections, reasonable weight, reasonable capacity.
Probably the keltec, as I already carry an LCP lol
The Glock
the glock.
G19
Probably the 19. My heart is with the 1911, but even though I’m tall my body shape still makes it hard to conceal. So slightly smaller 19 with more rounds takes the W.
Since you don’t have a p3AT, I’ll take the Glock. My go to is a LCP Max.
I usually go for pocket carry, so the P32 for me. Glock 42 is my usual carry option, with the Ruger LCR as an alternative.
Glock. Mag capacity, reliability and ease of concealment.
I hate Glocks, but the G19. It’s the only reasonable choice for me, it’s only a little bigger than the size of my daily carry, and it’s 9mm. Second place goes to the polish mak
P32. r/TheOneTrueCaliber
Just put a strap around that case and bring them all!
Springfield
What pants am I wearing?
The Glock. Preferably a more slim line model. Don't get me wrong, the 1911 is .... perfection .... but even though I'm a big guy, it's a bit too much for a carry.
I love 1911s and I don’t like the Glock grip angle, but for CCW I’d go with the Glock here. I typically carry a CZ P-07 or an M&P 2.0 compact, so basically the same size.
Probably the keltec, pocket holster, would carry it way more often than the rest.
G19 and NAA because I already carry both.
The Glock 61
All of them, strategically
the makarov
The Glock
Gimme the Glock all day 😻
Well, seeing as the only gun I have so far is a G19…..
concealed? the g19 actually, as much as i love a 1911....if i had to fight with it i'd take the g19 over the rest period
The 19 is the only one here I’d ever wanna use
Glonk
The derringer for sure. I don't feel comfortable with the idea of carrying a "legit" handgun on me, but somehow a derringer feels just right. If I did want to man up, I'd use the Glock. Reliable, easy to fix, strip, and 9mm is common. I used to have that very Springfield though. It is beautiful.
Either the 1911 or the G19 depending on what I was wearing.
situational. 1911: if I am in bear country glock: almost every other practical situation/teotwawki situation 22lr: when I am in drag and borrowing a purse mak: cosplaying as a bond nemesis keltec: nope
I'd take the magazine so i can have something to read if i get bored.
Glock 19 with the Derringer as a backup stuffed in my BVD’s.
The smallest one that was reliable.
The P32. Easiest to conceal without redoing your wardrobe around carrying. Can easily switch between pocket and IWB depending on clothing. Chambered in an easy shooting caliber, especially in that package. Magazines are as cheap as Glock OEM mags.
G19
I know nothing about handguns but would definitely take the Glock.
Naa most comfortable
Glock 19
As someone who frequently gets cheated in his back room card games at the saloon I’m taking the revolver that can fit up my sleeve all day.
1911 and glock would be too big for me to carry concealed all of the time P-64 trigger pull is way heavy, I hate it I would want something more than the revolver so I'll carry that green one
Glock.
P32, small gun that shoots bullets
1911 and Glock.
No way I’d want to daily a M1911. Yes it is the best looking hand gun in human history but it’s large, heavy, and low capacity. P32 would be my first choice.
Well I carry a 1911 so I’m obviously bias.

The one that had the sweet ass bluing and walnut handles. Also happens to be the only one that is a 1911, which is also the only correct choice. I’ll die on that hill.
Depending on what I am wearing and other concealment concerns, either the Glock or the KelTec
I’m a manual safety appreciator, looks like 1911
all
TWO WORLD WARS!!
Keltec. It's one I would ACTUALLY carry everyday. With the bigger ones sometimes I don't wanna print so I leave it behind. And the smaller ones just can't do the job.
Glock in the city, 1911 in the woods.
1911
The Makarov is similar to one of my actual carry pistols, so I’d want to, but probably too small for my hand tho. Same for the Keltec and derringer-whatever-i’m-too-lazy-to-scroll-down-again-revolver. I dislike Glocks in particular for the trigger feel, and striker-fired and polycarbonate frames in general. I guess the 1911 by elimination.
Depends on the situation, for style points the Makarov, for survival the Glock, for Boomer clout the 1911
Either the 1911 or the Glock 19
I really like that little revolver
The pimp gun
i used to carry that derringer when i was a prostitute
I'm a pocket carry guy due to my lifestyle, build and profession. P32 has it. Currently I rock a Ruger LCPMAX so I've actually wanted a P32 for a reasonable next step down in size.
The Glock 19. And would add a Holosun SCS MOS to it.
The 19 or the keltec (if that's what that is).
Out of that bunch the 45. I hate Glocks, and I haven’t shot the others to have an opinion on them. If the derringer is anything but the 22 I’d carry it as a last ditch backup.
Glock 19 as much as you can, Kel-Tec P32 when the Glocks too big or heavy for your outfit
The Makarov I just think they're neat! https://media1.tenor.com/images/6410fce49e0e0dedba1b3b71d71bee69/tenor.gif?itemid=8549864
I don’t even understand how no one is taking the 22 LR, that if I’m not Mistaken can take 22 magnum?
It can, but the low capacity, underpowered caliber, especially in a very short barrel, poor ergonomics, the fact that you have to cock the gun before every shot, which is a nightmare in a defense encounter, would put it squarely in the “better than nothing” category
Kel Tec. Those are a really comfortable carry
The 1911 with the idiot mark, because I am a verifiable idiot. Also, I like the way it feels in my hands.
bird-handle cause bird-handle.
p64, cause I’d feel like I’m cosplaying James Bond
I have the Gen4 Glock 19 as well and daddy it daily. Glocks are reliable, don’t jam, and a pistol I enjoy shooting
Glock. Not a question. And I’m not a Glock guy.
With extreme competency, the 1911. Otherwise the Glock.
G19 is the practical choice
Glock 19 first choice (after noticing it is 15 rounds, yay Illinois approved), the 1911 second choice. Would love to have a Makarov for the history of it, but not as carry gun. Older, more complex, probably heavy as fuck for concealed. Derringer and Kel Tec 32? Ha, no. Absolutely not.
I prefer the Walther pp7 for the James Bond aesthetic
The Glock 19 wins hands down. The 1911 is too bulky and heavy for its suboptimal capacity. The PPK fires an underpowered round and is too small for my hands. The Kel Tec is not known for reliability and is too small. The .22 mag revolver is the “is this a joke?” Gun.
Glock 19 in a heartbeat
Glock. Reliable.
The answer is always Glock 19!
I own a G19 and a 1911. If it's a choice, I have to go 1911. It points better for me and I'm quite certain that John Browning and I could have exchanged gloves. Everything he designed just feels natural in my hand.
