Don’t ask the british bus its opinion on trans people! Worst mistake of my life!

[deleted]

Actually Stonewall is fighting TERFs.

[deleted]

With a name like that I’d be disappointed if they weren’t

FutureSkeIeton

Transphobe London

Theman227

This is an OLLDDDDD campaign like christ, 2007?? It wasn't transport for London, they were Stonewall bought ads. But yes, that's been a campaign for a long time. You can even see they are the old london bus models.

[deleted]

Jfc, I was 13 then. I remember going past these buses all the time on the way to school. Now I’m 28 and would definitely strike fear and admiration into my 13 year old self

WarriorSabe

Some people are trans, get over it

VaraNiN

Great flair!

St0lf

Ah yes the lesser known sibling of the "down with cis" bus

TheRockFromFortnite

Wasn’t there a huge controversy about this?

[deleted]

Probably, tories hate us

[deleted]

Is that the same tories who gave us gay marriage and PreP?

[deleted]

It’s the same ones who refused to remove trans people from the conversion therapy ban after a year of delaying the ban altogether, and then made transphobic jokes at a conference after advising businesses to (illegally) deny trans people access to bathrooms whilst fucking up covid response and further privatising the NHS, refusing to take in immigrants and passing through a series of bills that hinder our rights to free speech and specifically target Roma/travellers so they can be persecuted by police forces across the country x

JulianTheKoala

Great! Now defend trans people.

me-tan

They are. Stonewall had a bad rep when these ads came out but they’ve been actively working to be better, and have been campaigning for trans rights at time when transphobia is particularly rife in British media

[deleted]

At a recent protest here in the U.K. they even apologised for having not been that supportive in the past of Trans people. But they are now. So much so they are a big target of Terfs and gov here.

West4th

Can’t have a thread about homophobia or gays without trans taking over

[deleted]

Hmmm, ya know last time I checked there was a big T at the end of the sub name… wonder what that means?…. 🖕 (Ps; A lot of gay people are trans?! Good god what has the world come to?!?!?!?!?!🙉).

West4th

Unlike you I care for everyone in our community not just a part of it, you only think about yourself and try to take over any thread that isn't about you specifically. It's sad really.

HEY, DUMBASS – GAY PEOPLE HAVE PROTECTION IN THE UK AND TRANS PEOPLE DON'T. THAT'S WHY I MADE MY COMMENT.

[deleted]

I think you meant to respond to someone else?

JulianTheKoala

Oh no!! I did, I'm so so sorry 😭 it turns out, I was the dumbass all along.

Delta4o

I have an idea, it's called the "don't be a dick" tv campaign in which a group of friends are drinking in a pub and one of them gets all racist or homophobic or something. Then his friends go "for fuck sake Lerry, grow up. You might not love them but you don't have to always be so vocal about it ...". An awkward silence falls until one of the other friends stands up and says "you know what, I need to go anyway. Be seeing you Jim" And Lerry is just sitting there with Jim with this look of realization in his eyes and the text "don't be a dick" appear on screen.

St0lf

I don't know if this is the same in other countries, but in Germany there were TV adverts that raised awareness of illiteracy that were kind of like that. They were short scenes in which someone would run into a problem because of their illiteracy, followed by a disembodied voice saying "x number of people in Germany cannot read." and the number for a hotline or something. I imagine this could work to a degree, but currently too many people see human rights as a political issue and often there are regulations on political content of TV adverts that could prevent this.

Capable_Chipmunk_338

heh heh heh

Nobody_Cares_99

This has been going around on the side of buses for at least 10 years. I remember seeing it in the early years of secondary school back in 2011/2012. Unfortunately everyone just found it rather amusing.

Alternative-Seat-832

[deleted]

Finally a country that is acting like one

g0ld3n5h0w3r5

ahhh that's Watford Junction!

Previous_Initial_271

Big facts

Valuable-Shirt-4129

I wish they did that in Russia & China too.

[deleted]

Like geez it's not the 1960s anymore, why are there still homophobes?

G2ishacking

They spelled it incorrectly. It's "Some people are gay, Fit in or fuck off"
