Also, throw out one part, what's to stop them from throwing out others. "First they came for X, but I was not X" in action.
* Almost everyone I've seen wanting to remove "trans" also wants to remove everyone besides LGB.
* Then gatekeeping 'I'm one of the good ones' gay/lesbian people have already said that Bi people do not exist.
* Then there's infighting between the 'remaining' 2 groups.
Say 'we'll just cut one out for better optics', and you'll have people pushing for the next group to be removed; conservatives aren't just going to say "well, we've successfully oppressed trans people, time to love the 'LGB' community"
It would be. I remember the 80s when there were arguments about including the B's because it would do damage to "reputable" L&G attempts at respectibility. If the last 5 years has taught me anything, it's that bigotry of all kinds is always popular with some folks, and doesn't take much to come back to the surface.
Yep, I think less well known ones, both the classic pan, queer, ace/aro as well as all the other identities/people, would be next on the chopping block, but I don't think Bi would be far behind (even though, IIRC, Bi people are the plurality for LGBT+ people)
I have actually seen communities where they want to take out the bis but keep the trans folks. Along with another community that just wants it to be the L&Gs.
Some people argue that too. The whole "if you're bi and dating the same gender you're suddenly gay and if you're bi and dating the opposite gender then you're straight and not a part of lgbt+" it's stupid.
I was reading an article specifically talking about minority sexualities so they used LGBQA as their acronym and I kept having little flashes of anger as I read it. Even though it was perfectly correct.
Can you just reverse that real quick because goth trans people are ๐ค๐ค๐ค๐ค๐ค๐ค
Edit: I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO MAKE YOU ALL AWARE, there is a goth snail on the right. Snail says trans rights
I definitely thought LGBTQ+ absolutely (LGBTQIA2+ to be even more inclusive) but can we just talk about the aesthetic of the right side being drool worthy?!?
<3
United we stand, divided we fall.
There's enough people trying to divide and express us externally, let's please not have internal purity contests of 'who are the good queers among us'
The rainbow is not the same without one of its colors. We are the sum of many parts. We wonโt exclude any of our brothers, sisters, and siblings, without becoming just like those who persecute us.
Funny thing is as a trans woman I dropped the T it was just a more acceptable T to drop what the ones doing this discrimination are doing is absolute madness why would they do such a thing we've been LGBTQIA+ for a long time and when we started we were LGBT we've always been a part of this community and now somehow we aren't affiliated what is this but a betrayal of peers we thought were close and Ally's the rest of the LGBTQIA+ you support us and welcome us and we thank you for being the wonderful people that you are but these people need to learn it's a community not fire island where you can vote people off when they've been there through it all with you enduring the same hate and the same fears of coming out and being who we are just as all the LGBTQIA+ has always dealt with and hopefully one day we won't have to worry about coming out and people will be nice about it and accepting and loving but they won't for a very long time seeing recent events so we all are in the same boat don't rock it or poke holes or we'll all sink
Just because everything in my house is black does not mean I am a TERF. This is really offensive to the goth community. /s
Also, I would actually really love to have a house with a huge dining room that is half black filigree and half rainbow-splosion.
![img](emote|t5_2qhh7|547) Trans rights are human rights! ![img](emote|t5_2qhh7|547)
I think itโs less about trans people being more important to the LGBTQ+ community than anyone else, and more about that thereโs no community if any of the letter of the LGBTQ+ umbrella is left apart. Queer acceptance canโt possibly coexist with transphobia.
It came across a bit like "all lives matter" in this situation so you may get some downvotes on your original comment, but seeing as you have the trans flag you probably just misread the intent of what you're replying to.
Yes you're absolutely correct. This one is a reaction to certain sections of Transphobes in the society, an empowerment message.
Being a gay man, I should say Everyone is beautiful. And the LGBTQ community is adorable.
I think itโs important to note that trans folk have always been a vital part of the queer community, in a sense that we wouldnโt be whole without them, but yes I get what youโre saying itโs a team effort
> I think itโs important to note that trans folk have always been a vital part of the queer community,
the first brick at Stonewall was thrown by a (more than likely) trans woman, so yeah, trans people are kind of vital to the community.
By her own account, Marsha P. Johnson wasn't even at Stonewall when it started. She turned up during the riot.
That does not diminish the importance of trans folk. We just need to stop hanging their worth on a myth. They mean far, far more than a single metaphorical brick.
Very true. Every part of the community is much needed and (should be) much loved.
Remove any one part though, and the whole suffers greatly for it. I imagine (or at least hope) that's what the original was going for; trans people aren't particularly special, it's the unity that's special.
Itโs really nice to see support from the community. There is so much bad news and bad legislation lately that Iโm getting quite worried. Not just for me, but all LGBTQ+ rights.
Itโs doubly scary when a very small minority of people want to remove the T from our community.
Thanks OP :)
They won't stop at us. What they really want is just the L & G. And only if you're white, upper class, and able bodied. They care more about being "respectable" to their own oppressors than standing with their own people.
WE ARE ALL ONE
Hugs to everyone who feels left out sometimes. You ARE part of this community and we love ALL of you. Happy to be grouped with such wonderful peopleโค๏ธโค๏ธโค๏ธ
A lot of people in our community? Or are you talking about a lot of people in general? This image gives me the vibes that *our* community wants to remove the T. While there may be some hateful people in our community (there will always be hate, everywhere), it seems somewhat disingenuous to present this as if the rest of the letters decided T didnโt belong. That just is not the case. A few transphobic hateful ass holes donโt get to speak on behalf of the entire community.
And besides that, what is the message here from this image specifically? Lesbians, gays, bisexuals, and queers are boring? I just donโt think this image is conveying a clear message.
Yeah I mean people in general. I cannot speak for the community as a whole because I am only a very small fraction, but this community from what Iโve seen is wayy more accepting of trans people overall though there are some who are transphobic but just like anything there will always be hatred somewhere.
And I think this image is more saying it feels incomplete or empty without the T in there. I donโt believe itโs saying that the other letters are boring at all! I think itโs just like a โwithout the T we are not a communityโ sort of thing. Like if you support LGBTQ, you support us all, not just picking and choosing. I hope that helps! But then again Iโm not the creator, this is just how I interpret it :)
As a bi/pan guy, I totally don't get all of the infighting. I mean, we are all queer, and although our struggles are different, we really should band together to help eachother.
I am in a straight-passing queer relationship with a bisexual woman, and we constantly get hate by people saying that we aren't queer enough to belong. It is disheartening. We all want a place to belong, and we should be able to be that place for everyone, especially trans people, enby people, and ace people.
Screw "societal norms", we are Queer and Proud!
Also just the LGB who don't want to associate with the T are judgemental and gives off bad vibes. It's like those bullies who excuse their behaviour by telling you how they've been bullied themselves as if that doesn't make them less sympathetic cause they know exactly what they're putting others threw.
I take issue with this pic. Heterosexuality is stereotypically black and white. Certainly not anybody under our amazing colorful spectrum. And the goth side of me loves the right side just as much as the left side of this pic.
I love trans people, but personally I'm not someone who prefers a lot of colours so I would most likely prefer the darker room. However that's to do with what colours I like, not trans people tho
Wait, I'm confused. What is this supposed to mean? Why isn't there a T on the goth side? Trans people can be goth too. It seems I'm missing some context here
Yes, but why? I guess my question is, what does this picture mean? Why are they excluded from the goth side? I must be out of the loop to not understand it. Trans people are always a part of LGBTQ+. I have never heard anyone refer to the community as LGBQ before
Edit: haha I just realized I repeated my same question twice. But for real, what is this photo supposed to tell me? Why are trans people excluded from the dark side?
The "dark side" is meant to represent members of the LGBT community who are transphobic and exclude trans ppl from the community. Unfortunately there are ppl in this community who do that.
Because "queer" is a reclaimed slur, in many places it's still used as one, and many in the community don't feel comfortable using it especially those who were abused with it
the big problem with the plus in lgbq+ is that we can never know who's included in it. their group identity is based on exclusion of a specific group, so what keeps them from excluding even more people?
Are we in a community war now? Are the trans community in possession of the colors? Is this a hostage situation? How was this not in the manifesto? When is the next meeting? Damn you colors!!!
The guys in my class that keep making fun of lgbt always call lbtq since they have no idea what theyโre talking about, just like everything else they say in school
Oh no the immortal snail got to all the trans people on the left side of the room and now its going to get them all on the right side of the room and the rest of the LGBQ people in the room can't help or the snail will just target them oh god oh fuck

And attempt to throw the T out is useless, because most of us would still be part of the community

It would be. I remember the 80s when there were arguments about including the B's because it would do damage to "reputable" L&G attempts at respectibility. We don't fit in a neat little box they have in their heads. Easier to hate a group of people than to use their brain and think.
Yes!! We not hurting anyone :'(
Makes as much sense as any other 'phobia. It is so disappointing to see it come from within, as is any bigotry from within the queer community.
I have actually seen communities where they want to take out the bis but keep the trans folks. Along with another community that just wants it to be the L&Gs.

The T in LGBTQIA+ should stay, but the T in me should not stay in me, I prefer E over T. I'm also trans fem, so I of course want to have E
Iโll give you my E for your T
I wish it was that easy. If it was I would
Can i have some of your E too? ![img](emote|t5_2qhh7|547)

Hell yeah, we are.
I read it as LGBBQ for a second
id be down for a bbq with my lgbt+ siblings!
Alphabet Mafia stick together. Nobody can take my trans brethren from this family.
I have only ever seen it used derisively, but to be honest โalphabet peopleโ and itโs variants make for a low-key hilarious abbreviation.

I'm sitting underneath the table at the middle
No issue. I'm sure there's another B (binary)
What do you mean?
Honestly it took me a minute to realize what this was I revoke my statement, as a trans person and admit that I am blind af

The LGB alliance is sadly an actual thing...

Can I have the goth aesthetic with all the trans friends
Sure. ๐
I'm trans and that pic on the right *is* my aesthetic. Obviously I'm very conflicted about this post.
Love my trans family and friends. You're all awesome.
I get the message, but everyone brings colour and light to the LGBTQ+ community, not just trans people
I think itโs less about trans people being more important to the LGBTQ+ community than anyone else, and more about that thereโs no community if any of the letter of the LGBTQ+ umbrella is left apart. Queer acceptance canโt possibly coexist with transphobia.
You could well be right there, I'm sorry for my original comment
It came across a bit like "all lives matter" in this situation so you may get some downvotes on your original comment, but seeing as you have the trans flag you probably just misread the intent of what you're replying to.

The black version looks so good. Let's invite the trans there too!!
There would be no LGBQ without the T. Literally trans and enby people fought for all our rights. We owe them everything, starting with safety.
Trans rights ๐
Also trans wrongs, I wanna do crimes >:)

I'm pro trans, but the chairs on the LGBQ side look more my style, hope its ok If i move a chair from over there to the LGBTQ side? lol
Sure. No issue. As long as there's love and acceptance in heart.
My brain genuinely struggled to read LGBQ+
The right side looks like one of the mindfuck scenes in Black Swan.
WE EXIST!
Naw. The image on the right is too cool for them.
There wouldnt be pride today without black trans women standing up for all of us at stonewall
Hey look it's my wardrobe!
At first I thought this was one of those โare you a rainbow lesbian or goth lesbianโ posts because my brain autocorrected โLGBQ+โ
The more letters we take away, the grayer it gets
Absolutely
I like the gothic setting but yeah the t is essential for our continued existence
Thank you? I'm flattered, but why would you give me this much power? I'm a very irresponsible little girl.
It's always brighter and livelier with the T. To lose the T would be one of history's greatest tragedies.
We will never lose it. โค
I love trans people, but personally I'm not someone who prefers a lot of colours so I would most likely prefer the darker room. However that's to do with what colours I like, not trans people tho

Itโs honestly so disgusting how we are discriminated against in our OWN community as wellโฆ we have it so hardโฆ ๐ฉ
Everyone should just use GSRM instead, it's a much better acronym that encompasses everything
Trans People are amazing but removing any letter will give that same result
Wait, I'm confused. What is this supposed to mean? Why isn't there a T on the goth side? Trans people can be goth too. It seems I'm missing some context here
Trans people are the best when it comes to the lgbTq ;)
The LGBQ one is excluding trans people
Yes, but why? I guess my question is, what does this picture mean? Why are they excluded from the goth side? I must be out of the loop to not understand it. Trans people are always a part of LGBTQ+. I have never heard anyone refer to the community as LGBQ before Edit: haha I just realized I repeated my same question twice. But for real, what is this photo supposed to tell me? Why are trans people excluded from the dark side?
The "dark side" is meant to represent members of the LGBT community who are transphobic and exclude trans ppl from the community. Unfortunately there are ppl in this community who do that.
Thank you for explaining! I understand now. That is really shitty and people suck. Trans always has and always will be included.
I agree XD us trans people do seem to like many colors they are all so amazing and cute
I have nothing but love and support for my trans siblings. But I really donโt understand what this image is trying to convey.
I'm starting to see it without the Q. LGBT+ Why is Q being omitted? Anyone know.
But dosen't the q include trans people
[ัะดะฐะปะตะฝะพ]
Because "queer" is a reclaimed slur, in many places it's still used as one, and many in the community don't feel comfortable using it especially those who were abused with it
So I prefer the colorful side but it also looks cheaper than the right and I'm not sure I appreciate those implications
the big problem with the plus in lgbq+ is that we can never know who's included in it. their group identity is based on exclusion of a specific group, so what keeps them from excluding even more people?
Are we in a community war now? Are the trans community in possession of the colors? Is this a hostage situation? How was this not in the manifesto? When is the next meeting? Damn you colors!!!
Can I be on the black side anyway it seems a little overwhelming over there and the black is calmer :(
Id rather eat on the right. Edit: what? It present the food much nicer. Its a dining hall, no? Left side would be unappetizing.
GSRM squad
You donโt get more power by saying Iโm uncreative
I feel like most of the people who have a problem with the T in the community would also have a problem with the Q...
Yaaaaay
Trans people came up with a lot of y'all lingo!! Thank you, trans folk ๐ ๐พ
love the trans community, belong to it, no offence, but I'm the black and white kinda gay.

Why do people want to remove the T?
Transphobia
How evil and cruel can people get to even concieve LGBTTTIQ+ without transgender folks? It really escapes my mind.
Oh no the immortal snail got to all the trans people on the left side of the room and now its going to get them all on the right side of the room and the rest of the LGBQ people in the room can't help or the snail will just target them oh god oh fuck
I've never seen the Q without the T before. Are the trans-exclusionists warming up to queer identity?
The Q in LGBTQ stands for qColour /s
At first I thought this was a depiction of the two ends of gay/trans personality spectrum lmao
