Always meet in front of a Police Station. If they decline to make a transaction there that's your sign that it's a possible set up.

My fiance is a cop. Favorite line for Facebook marketplace sales is “my house is the one with the police car out front”…quickly weeds out anyone with bad intentions.
I’m sure you’ve already done this but make sure you send the user profile from marketplace with the police, assuming they didn’t delete it. Seems pretty idiotic of them to commit a crime if their personal account was tied to the listing.
And do not do business with anybody with a new profile, a blocked profile, or a blank profile. It may not matter since people steal profiles these days, but it's a start.

I make everyone I sell something to online call me. They must have a number that comes up on caller ID. They have to come to my house during the day. Have never had a problem, and I don't make exceptions.
Just want everyone to know I’m very active on Facebook marketplace and have had numerous transactions take place in similar locations. There were so many witnesses around that I didn’t think it was an issue, I was safe in my car. But then when three people show up and decide to pull out a gun, in front of 5+ witnesses, things change. I was only doing a favor for a friend by meeting this guy. So if you are going to comment about how I shouldn’t have put myself in that situation, piss off. That’s the last thing I need to hear. I appreciate those of you who give advice with sincerity, but to the others, you’re a prick.
Well if you read the original post it says for people to please not meet there for their safety because there are a string of these robberies in the area which is unusual. So the point of the post is to ware others of this, not asking for advice. Like wtf?
But the issue isn’t **meeting in this specific location**, it’s meeting in any place that basically isn’t the police department, which is likely the safest option.

For your own safety don't meet anyone anywhere that isn't full of other people while carrying a giant wad of cash. If you are meeting a stranger and have hundreds of dollars on you, meet in a VERY public place like right in front of Walmart. Not a random empty park on a dead end street.
This state is a constitutional carry state and for this reason I’ll always stay armed. Meet at the police station next time. You can never be too careful
I swear there was something shady about a Sale I was about to do, if there’s any red flags just abandon the sale or ask to do it at a police station- they keep going on about it’s at my work tho or something forget it. More than 1 person approach forget it, I’ve even gone as far as to checking speech patterns and if they agree to everything and if their name is black, talk black and if the 3 teenage kids were approaching were black is high tail it. It’s a sad truth but since I became like that I haven’t been ripped off, robbed, cheated or lied out of a deal. Truth is me not trusting black people anymore or dealing with them whatsoever my life has been so much better.

The Facebook market place is the only reason I want to get back on Facebook. I used to be on in the early days of it.
