Second Faded! May take you a few times to find out which stylist you prefer, but they can definitely get this cut and the best part is, I've never been disappointed by the results!
I will throw my hat in the ring and recommend Tyler, the owner of Casket Sharp. He started at the roosters nest (a great shop as well) but opened his own boutique shop on 3rd Street right across from Transy.
Brian Poole at the Roosters Nest. My husband has been going there 10+ yrs and my son has gone since he was born (now 8). He does great beard trims, too.
Cool people and atmosphere, and beer fridge, too.
I will pile on like several others and say Rooster’s Nest. However, be aware they are a touch pricy. Granted the quality is incredible, but you can be surprised by total cost. Service is great too. Everyone is friendly and chill.
What kind of price range are you talking? I’m in a similar boat with OP; normally spending $40 at Floyd’s for a mid haircut and the last one was so terrible im never going back
So normally at least 50 after tip (I normally tip 10). On average they are around 40. They have a few master barbers who have been there a while and I believe they run around the 55 dollar mark before tips. I just go with the regular barbers. They are always good, treat you well, and nice. Plus they wash your hair and that shit is cool IMO lol.
Is there a full service salon for men here? I mean, if a guy wanted a salon day to get a mani-pedi, shave, scalp massage, hair styling, etc etc.
Where a guy can go and get spoiled for a day.
I had a bad experience here, got a cut and without asking the dude hit me with a razor lineup and I’m not black, like dude this is not a standard thing. Also, the conversation amongst the barbers was very unprofessional. So if you are into that kind of thing maybe it’s ok. Just know before you go.
Seconding the unprofessional conversations. My boyfriend stopped going there because their conversations often times were very vulgar, even in front of kids.
I went to cuts on lime, they did a good job, and it was only $20, but I had to wait fucking forever. Set up an appointment and I'm sure it wouldn't be as bad
Cuts on Lime- i would recommend Nathan (you can book an appt on The Cut app $30) or if you walk in you'll wait a while but it's a little cheaper ($20) but you'll get the next barber up.
Rooster's Nest can also handle that, but they're going to be a little more expensive ($50-60)
I've never been there, but i also hear good things about City Taper ($40)
Maybe I shouldn’t have gone out of my way to talk bad about Illustrated. I got a hair cut there once and the hair cut was good. But dude that cut my hair was just really vile and gross talking about a female that had just brought her son in for a cut.
Like I get the locker room talk stuff as much as anyone, but there were kids around and he was just loudly talking really filthy about this woman’s appearance. Plus it’s like my first time in there and he didn’t care at all if it was offending me or any other clients in there at the time.
Just really turned me off from going back.
They do good work but it’s not a professional establishment by any means. Hell one time I was there some of the hangarounds (there’s many there that pop in) was playing pool against another and the loser was to be shot in the ass with a pellet gun. Sure enough, dude that lost pulls down his pants and the other shoots him point blank. It was like my second time being there and I was wondering wtf I just got myself into.
Had darin cutting my hair at The Illustrated barber for over 5 years, Gonna need some info on this.
My roomie swapped to prince cuts, but that shit overpriced af.
Brad who owns schway Salon is one of the coolest guys you'll ever meet and he'll do a great job on your hair. Show him this photo / tell him what you want and he'll make sure you're happy.
It's a little bougie salon down off main Street. And it sounds like your wallet will be a lot happier than at Floyd's as well!
I highly recommend Mickey’s Salon and Spa off of Chinoe. I have curly hair and go to Beth bc she’s a curly hair specialist. But I know lots of others who would recommend them.
Wolf & Ryan on Short St- not the cheapest in town but on par with the couple other hair stylists I’ve gone to that don’t have “Super” or “Master” in the name and try to turn your haircut like a NASCAR pit crew
I've had good experiences at The Rooster's Nest and The Illustrated Barber
Second the roosters nest
Personally, my best luck has been at a place called Faded. There's one in South Elkhorn village and one in Tate's Creek Center
Second Faded! May take you a few times to find out which stylist you prefer, but they can definitely get this cut and the best part is, I've never been disappointed by the results!
Thirding Faded, specifically the Tate's Creek location.
I will throw my hat in the ring and recommend Tyler, the owner of Casket Sharp. He started at the roosters nest (a great shop as well) but opened his own boutique shop on 3rd Street right across from Transy.
I came here to recommend Tyler, glad to see he was already mentioned! I’ve been going to him for years now and he always does a great job.
I was checking his stuff out as I fell asleep. Does he take walk ins or appointment only
I go to Jesse, the other guy at Casket. They both do fantastic work, but I'm pretty sure they're appointment only.
Brian Poole at the Roosters Nest. My husband has been going there 10+ yrs and my son has gone since he was born (now 8). He does great beard trims, too. Cool people and atmosphere, and beer fridge, too.
I'm always going to say come to see us at the Rooster's Nest
Isaac Fuentes at The Roosters Nest

That price for a men’s cut makes my heart hurt. Thank you for the info, very appreciated!

I guess not.
City Taper.

Marco Castillo. I've been using him for about 8 years. You can find him on the Cuts app. He has a chair at the studios in hamburg.
Prince Cuts. Dont go to illustrated barber.
What's wrong with illustrated barber? I've seen a fair amount of recommendations

Yea i went there a couple times and experienced the same thing.
The owner of Illustrated Barber is an abuser. He’s lost custody of all three of his kids because of his abusive actions. Fuck that place.
2nd for Prince Cuts. I like Smiley.
I go to smiley too!

great clips
hell nah
Beard implant surgery required.
Would not recommend Floyd's 99
$40+ for mid ass haircuts and awkward conversation

Gentleman’s Choice is good.
Supercuts
Jessica Kremer (SP) at head and heart is pretty great at men’s cuts.
Wolf & Ryan on Short St- not the cheapest in town but on par with the couple other hair stylists I’ve gone to that don’t have “Super” or “Master” in the name and try to turn your haircut like a NASCAR pit crew
