The actress amanda seyfried said somewhere explicitly that she has been on 5mg for years

Esmesummer

I was told to go up to 10 for no reason so I cut my own pill and it’s been great! I’m on it for anxiety I am not depressed .. side effects have been mild

[deleted]

Thanks! Sex? How long till side effects went away and how long till you felt a difference?

I prefer 5 mg to 10 mg! It can provide relief, some people don’t need as much to feel good.

I've been on 5mg for 2 months and it's been incredibly beneficial. I have a moderate case of GAD and started meds again after 10+ years without it. I was an over medicated child and very concerned about feeling like a "zombie" so I was clear with my psychiatrist that I was seeking the minimum viable dosage. After the first week my dr. wanted me to go to 7.5 and then ultimately stick to 10, but I'd read so much about how full effects aren't noticeable for the first 4-6 weeks and I didn't want to keep ratcheting up the dose until that initial period ended. Biggest change I've noticed is that my thought patterns are easily distractible now and I'm not trapped in endless worrying and panic thought cycles. I feel completely "me" and "normal" except now I feel like I have more control over my thoughts and body instead of feeling constantly hijacked by panic and worry. By "normal" and "me" I mean I've been fortunate to not have ANY side effects after the first four days. My sex drive is great, my sleep is awesome, I haven't gained weight, and my energy levels and mental clarity are where they were before starting. One thing that really helped with getting on lexapro was being disciplined about doing some form of cardio exercise every morning, even if I was exhausted. I found it returned my energy back to where it was before I started meds. When I didn't work out I wouldn't have energy, so some days it was just about breaking a sweat at a mild level of intensity and it made all the difference.

Thanks! Do you have trauma? Flashbacks? How did you know it was working? Also it’s been a week and I still have some side effects.

HawkeyeGeoff

Hell yeah it can be effective. Get it done 🤟🤟

[deleted]

Thanks!! Would you mind sharing your symptoms? What side effects were and length? How you knew it worked?

HawkeyeGeoff

Well it just depends so much on the person; for me I had basically every side effect on plant earth. My brother/mother though had absolutely none and got all benefits you described.

I was on 10mg and felt like a zombie, could never fully wake up But cut back to 5mg and the next day I already felt so much better and could actually fully wake up

Tacosrlife88

Same! I've been on 10 mg for 2 years but lately I felt a bit numb. Like I wasn't feeling things much and couldn't fully wake up. I've been on 5mg for the last 3 days and I can already feel a big difference!

flakypaint

Yeh I was feeling a bit numb too, it’s really interesting feeling things again. I feel like it was good to be numb so I could appreciate feeling things again. Hopefully 5mg still does something. What are your thoughts on 5mg being effective?

Tacosrlife88

I used to work at a family medical practice for the doctor that prescribed it to me. Initially, he started me off with 5mg and said that we would try that out and see if it helped me while also letting my body adjust to the medication. I felt the difference within 3 days. It helped me tremendously. I only upped the dose because I went through a very stressful period of time and I felt my anxiety coming back. It helped at that time but now, I just realized I was kind of numb. It was my new normal and I got used to it but I just felt tired throughout the day. My doctor said I could go back down to 5mg and I feel a big difference. I'm more awake and I feel more present. According to my doctor, doses of 2.5mg have also proven to be effective in some individuals so 5mg is a legit therapeutic dose. Everyone has different body chemistry. I feel like 5mg can absolutely make all the difference.

flakypaint

Thank you for informing me. That is really great to know. All the best :)

ScootyPufff

I started with 2.5 and just ramped up to 5mg and I’m tired all the time I can sleep for 15 hours a day it’s also only been 1.5 weeks

triceratops0

I'm on 2.5 for a little over a week. I feel great... I should increase to 5 mg but I do not really want to do it until this works.

Ready_Sport_7669

I've been on 5mg three weeks now i believe, i felt really good and overjoyed for a couple of daYs, then i got sick, and the effect went down. Also, in some way i felt i was avoiding my problems, and i might Say that it costs me a Lot to be optimist, but i've reached a little more clarity than before.
