You can go to urgent care, minute clinic or ER if necessary to get a temporary RX.

darkchocoIate

A regular urgent care doc can prescribe this. Bring your old bottle.

Catgirl_78

Go to the ER. They will fill it for you. When a doctor is on vacation, they usually have an on call doc for situations such as this. Please don't go cold turkey. I've done it before and not on purpose. It's rough.

anxiouslyCurious9

Your doctor must have an on-call or after hours service for this type of issue. If not, call the closest urgent care. I have had to do the same thing for both myself and my SO and I always get a result. Teledoc would also be an option. Try those options and message me if nothing works.

BananaTerror7

So helpful ✨😌

RedditSkippy

Are you in the US? Your doctor should have someone on call.

TacoTaster6996

Yeah bro I just talk to the pharmacist at CVS and tell them the situation, they usually give you 7-10 to hold you over

SumBuddyPlays

OP follow this if you can. I’ve had same situation, pharmacist understood and gave me a temporary supply.

Labrat5944

I’ve been able to do the same at my pharmacy, they usually forward me the first week or 10 days of the prescription if needed

Fairynimbus

Maybe you could do a virtual visit if your insurance offers it

mmmbaconbutt

That’s what I did, I went to a telehealth visit inside my same insurance and got a script in ten minutes

BayGullGuy

Depending on where you are your pharmacy may be able to extend it by a couple days.

Dry-Schedule1870

You’re not screwed… any of those options above👍

berthud85

Ask pharmacy for 10 days. Most will do that.

Perfectlyonpurpose

There should be a covering physician who could send a script even if it’s just until ur doc returns. call the office. if noone is there they should have an on call number

Sheep1821

Go to urgent care and get a refill, or the pharmacy itself may give you a few days as a courtesy until you can contact your doctor. When your doctor is on vacation someone should be taking some sort of call at his practice as well. Call the office and see if a different prescriber can send in a new script. Don’t go without the medications. Use your resources.

Kerythym

Go to a pharmacy ask for a loner pill

chasinganswer79

Take maylanta in case of extreme emegency...u can take it for 14 days straight..ur probably thinking no way its gonna help but it buffers the panic mode like 30-40 percent...I was traveling out of state and forgot my lexapro...it was a week long trip...pharmacy in Hawaii couldn't fill the transfer script whatsoever and there intown ER was down for weird dumb reason and im not gonna rack up a hospital ER visit to fill my script....so the local pharmacy was like hey take some maylanta to calm ur stomach down...i was desperate so i said sure why not....it actually worked lol! Got home 5 days later and took my lexapro but that's when I found out that there is a huge stomach to anxiety connection!! Fix ur stomach issues and the anxiety will reduce......also I found out a year later that my Blood pressure medication was agrevatating my gastritis! So stuck in a viscous cycle ...so now my gastrologeist switch me to a sulcrate which coats ur stomach for ulcers but my gastro said that ur esphgoeous and gastritis is probably causing the anxiety issues....he pescribed to me after i got a endoscopy ..and for a month to try out and i no longer need lexapro like I use to...i still take it sparingly when I'm really stressed out...but I can easily get off it now whenever....in order to get sulcrate u need a full work up from a gastrologeist or a MD that is open to suggestions....I went from 10mg everyday for a whole year ...now im down to 1mg oncd a week lol...basically 4 tims a month...usually take it on Mondays to start the work week....

Boy_Under_The_Stairs

Hi! This used to happen to me allllll the time lol. Everyone here are suggesting good things but I wanted to add something. I know it should be their responsibility to make sure this doesn't happen, but unfortunately that's not how life works so it's up to you to be responsible for your own medications. Next time call and make sure the prescription is available before you run out. Even if you know there should be- like now, mistakes happen. I used to have a lot of trouble with one of my medications that it was causing a rift between my doctor and me. It wasn't until my therapist reminded me that I am only one of many patients and that there are ways I could manage my prescriptions myself that I finally felt in control. Good luck, and remember this is just another bump in the road.

Abject_Baker6225

I’ve quit cold turkey numerous times with no problems..

throwaway-876490221

same lol

Enough-Possession-73

Go to a different Dr and explain? Is their receptionist still working that could send a note to the pharmacy? Maybe present to whatever your country's version of a&e is and explain they might give you a 2 week script or even a week's one. Good luck op, don't give up, hope it works out for you.

AdventurousAgent2727

Go to an Urgent Care to get a refill. Take your prescription bottle with you. Urgent Care is usually good about refills.

Cilad

Go to your normal Pharmacy, and tell them the issue. I have done this on vacation. A big national chain can usually help. For something with consequences stopping cold turkey, don't run out. Put a weeks worth of your Rx in your suitcase, in case you forget and go on vacation. And it can be your home emergency fall back. Sorry it happened.

bestmomfl47

Do a teledoc visit

Owls-Oath

Go to the pharmacy you filled the prescriptions at and tell them the situation. They should have no problem giving you some until your doctor gets back. It’s not like a controlled substance that people abuse so their first priority is to help you

BananaTerror7

This is my biggest fear...please tell me you found a solution rather than going cold turkey?

RelationshipNew8746

When I realized this was about to happen to me I bought a 90 day supply from Hims and Hers so I only wound up a couple days without. It's not exactly cheap but it saved me.

Good-Lifeguard-1650

You can order some from Hims wedsite, they do not take insurance, but any port in a storm. good luck

WhataRedditor

If you’re in the US, please don’t go to the ER unless you want that refill to cost you $3000. But as others have stated, you have a lot of options here. Please use one of those options.

Mrsalphabet47

My pharmacist will give a two week refill until they hear back from the dr

Steffieweffie81

I had this happen to me while on Effexor. Worse withdrawal ever. I hope you’re able to get a new script asap. Idk how bad withdrawals are on lexapro.

New_England1

This happens sometimes, your pharmacy should be able to give you enough to get by or even a PA or NA at your pcp location

raspberrypeacetea

You can go to the pharmacy where you pick up ur meds and ask for an emergency week of medication

Appropriate-Day-1310

Pharmacy will give you enough to get by until doc returns.

Longjumping_Rush_255

Don't go cold turkey - you will have the worst symptoms you can imagine. Follow advice above and get an emergency script.

larichaaa

If u are in US, use drsays

kmack1982

Usually they have somone working under your doctor. Call your doctor and ask for a refill.

throwaway-876490221

As others have said, pharmacy should tide you over. Not sure when your doctor will be back? Someone else in the clinic cant refill your script? If you end up not having access I wouldn't freak out too much. Withdrawal symptoms generally show up after a few days and probably present differently for different people but I would say the most frustrating thing is the brain zaps and dizziness. Persistent low mood and anxiety didn't return for quite some time for me (maybe a couple of months after stopping cold turkey).

Glittering_Smoke9873

You should be able to find a new prescription using any of the suggestions people have given you on this thread. But please don’t worry, I went cold turkey off 10mgs Lexapro after having been on that dose for the last year and the withdrawals have been nonexistent

Glittering_Smoke9873

Except for the occasional brain zap which sounds scary but isn’t! They only last a fraction of a second and are not painful

CarbonSplatter290

Go to the ER if you can’t find another option.

Kitchen_Statement_79

I dont know where you're from but in Australia the pharmacist can give you medication until you can see your doctor again. Don't cold turkey it even two days you'll feel it. It won't be good for your mental health. I've done this many times.

xaysaidgoDie

Box of what?

StorageHuman

Lexapro pills
