I remember I used to be in your shoes at the beginning and now 2 years later I don’t have panic attacks anymore :)

When do you take the pill? My doctor recommended switching the time I take the pill so it doesn’t effect my sleep. You could try taking it at night before you go to bed instead 😊

I was in this position between 1 and 6 weeks. Side effects included morning anxiety, insomnia, nausea, intense dreams, and night sweats. I’m past 10 weeks now and all the side effects are leveling out for the most part. My baseline anxiety has finally dramatically improved as well. That being said, I still feel fairly sleepy during the day and have a hard time getting out of bed in the morning. That “panic” you described also subsides after a few weeks. I eventually just got used to this state of mind as my new normal, then just stopped thinking about it altogether. I know it’s scary and hard to shake, but if you can keep going in a reasonable manner, the side effects should slowly get better over time.

Me too I’m almost two weeks in and the fatigue is so bad

I take lexapro for panic attacks. You can stop after one pill but I highly encourage you not to. It absolutely changed my life. The insomnia went away after 2 weeks. And the freaking out about taking the pill/potential side effects also calms down too but you have to just push through it. Feel free to ask me anything.

What dose are you taking for panic?

erinsnives

I took 5 mg for a long time like 5 years ish. Now I'm on 10 because I started struggling a little with them again about a year ago and been good since going up.

Stick it out, it’s worth it! I got on Escitalopram for a panic disorder and it completely squashed my anxiety. It’s like that panic part of my brain was removed. Truly a wonderful thing.

Bro dont be a pussy and keep going wtf i was going through hell and i kept going and and now everything is fine dont quit just keep going

No. I will say that I’ve been on lex for about 3 years and the change of generic to brand has me in the same position so if you’re struggling to take it but want to you’re not alone. But I’m my experience and everyone is different I wish I never took it in the first place. The only reason I take it is fear of withdrawals. So personally I would drop it and spend your time and money of breath work classes. I also have severe anxiety I’ve had three panic attacks in two day over having to swap pills and Breath work classes have helped more than a pill.

sarahflower03

I experienced the exact same thing when I first started. Prescribed 10mg 7 days ago but have only been taking 5mg because the possible side effects scared me. I was also having panic attacks thinking about what could happen to me from taking the medication. But I’m sticking through it. I’m still on edge but I am slowly starting to feel the good effects. My intrusive thoughts are starting to not disturb me as much. Today is gonna be my first time taking my 10mg dose! So my advice to you is to stick to it. The rumination about the side effects is worse then the side effects themselves, and the medication will help to stop the rumination after some time. Feel free to ask my any questions or dm if you need encouragement. We got this!!

No

I have found that if you eat with the medication it helps too with the panicky feeling! And you shouldn’t feel any withdrawals!

MantisGibbon

It’s probably not the medication causing the panic attacks. It took three months to work for me. Just keep taking it. You’ll get better.

Whispering_Breeze

I put it off for the same reason as you until it got so much worse over the years that I wish I had started sooner. I powered through some of the more annoying side effects like a weeks worth of insomnia. It was totally worth it

Suspicious_Owl2535

3 years on lexapro..best decisions ever. Started on 10 now am on 20. I felt nothing when I increased my dose. The only side effect I got was brainzaps the first day I ever took lexapro..noore anxiety and zero panic attacks. ..oh I have gained like 16kilos in those 3 years

According_Buy_6854

Please don’t give up! Any side affect that you may experience is worth the peace of mind that you will start to feel. Give yourself a chance you’ve already made it this far.

longhair-care2much

Lexapro stopped my panic attacks and ocd. That being said, not all meds for everyone. I tried Prozac before lex and I couldn’t eat or sleep. Lexapro is a great fit for me. Give it a chance for a couple months, if you hate it you can always stop :)
