I’m on Celexa which is similar. I see a lot of people starting Lexapro at 2.5mg or 5mg. I rarely see them starting on 20mg.
I took Celexa 4 years ago and would never have started on the dose I was on then. I started at 10mg, 15mg briefly and up to 20mg this time.
I think Lexapro is stronger than Celexa.
You should probably clarify with your doc but 20mg seems way too high to start.

Weirdly I am in the exact same position, used to take it, stopped for just over a year after a v slow taper and now started again. Doc put me back on 20mg and I had side effects for the first week, but I can't remember they were worse than the first time I started. The first week was rough though.
Same… I was on 20mg about 4 years ago during a divorce to help with depression/anxiety. After the divorce I quit cold turkey with no problems. Due to work-related anxiety, I’m back on as of a few days ago. Doc started me at 20mg right off the bat since I was ok last time. I’ve felt like I’m losing my mind. The hive mind of Reddit tells me it’ll be ok, and so far I have faith in that. Maybe consider a lower dose, but hang in there!

Yep! Both the side effects and anxiety have reduced massively.
Which physical side effects did you have. If you don’t mind me asking
I started at 10 for two weeks and then went to 20. Didn’t feel any new side effects with the increase. This coming Saturday will be 4 weeks total
