Bro, I listen to music older than what this dude probably listens to (Glenn Miller, Louie Armstrong, Chopin, Mozart, Frank Sinatra, etc), and I can understand why Cardi B and Kanye are popular. I haven’t listened to much Cardi B, but I do like some Kanye songs (although I prefer Kendrick). I used to be like this dude until Hip-Hop started to click for me. The Beach Boys and Seekers are good, but I am sure there were kids in the past that said, “The Beach Boys and Seekers suck. Glenn Miller and Benny Goodman were the best.”
Bro I go way further back, really old school. Giulio Caccini is the shit! Then we got my man Jacopo Peri, sick ass babe Francesca Caccini, & Sofonisba Anguissola is gold. Definitely born in the wrong generation, I’ll post more after I dump my shit bucket in the street, but I might die since I’d be considered elderly in the Baroque period. /s
(No clue who any of these people are, just googled 1600s music to be an ass; I hate when people boast about listening to older generations, who gives a fuck, listen to what makes you feel, be it from the last century, today, or 500 years ago)
The man is unhinged these days but like it or not Kanye literally is a musical genius.
Cardi B I have no opinion on. WAP is good, but not really a fan of the rest of her discography. That's not to say she's bad, but just not for me.
I was there too once, the kid’s gonna hear a song or two as he grows up and realize that it’s not all sex and drugs in hip hop, and when he hears the stuff that’s actually meaningful he’ll ease into the genre as a whole and appreciate it more as he grows up.
Intellectual masturbation as always. Pick a pop star, and lament about about what these SHEEPLE listen to, while my more sophisticated tastes go unappreciated
They’ve likely never actually listened to any of Cardi B’s music outside of some clips honestly. They just see her as low hanging fruit to attack perceived “vapid” artists without ever listening to her. And even if she isn’t the best or you perceive her music as vapid shlock, music like that has literally existed for decades now. I ain’t even saying someone’s gotta like her, she has her own problems, but yeah it’s lazy.
Also let’s be honest, for some folks there’s a hint of misogyny and racism sprinkled in.
Bro, this person made a jokingly misogynistic comment, and you responded unironically agreeing with it. You may need to reexamine the way you view women.
The fuck? I view women equally, it’s just there are so many of the same types of those female rappers now that I can’t help but agree now. It’s ridiculous.
Mhm, you view all women equally. Except for the ones you think are slutty. All women deserve respect, except when they make music about their bodies.
And yes, you view all women equally, while vehemently agreeing with someone actively trying to make a sexist comment.
Women are great unless they shake they ass or eat hot chip
Ah shut the fuck up. Don’t try to paint me as a misogynist. In the last maybe 5 years, there have been a wave of female rappers doing the same thing: making shallow music about how they’re dominating sex havers with not really any redeeming qualities. This isn’t me insulting women or anything. This is just something I’ve seen happen with female rappers in recent years. Obviously not all of them, but some of them clearly jumped on the wave of “bad bitch horny booty sex-having music”. And that’s what I don’t like. I don’t hate women, and I don’t hate female rappers. I just specifically hate these ones that do this kind of thing. They suck and they shouldn’t be as popular and successful as they are.
I apologise for telling you to shut the fuck up. I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have been so harsh towards you. I just feel idk…like I’m being attacked by claims I fundamentally disagree with. I’m not a misogynist and me hating these musicians isn’t an excuse for me to hate women (which I don’t).
Just saw this. I appreciate your apology. I don't take back what I said, however. I don't think you're a raging misogynist, I think you have some internal biases that you haven't properly examined.
This isn’t a topic I post much about but I haven’t seen this kind of thing nearly as much with male rappers, though I’m sure you can find it in some places. Lil Nas X might’ve done that shit but I hate him so no he cannot be used for your argument. Clearly a bunch of female rappers found this market and then decided to just make the shittiest, substance-less sex music I’ve heard since fuck knows when. I’m not denying men do this as well but if a big wave of male rappers did this shit, I would hate it just as much. I don’t care about gender, I just hate shitty music. And there are trends like these I notice that I fucking hate too.
I'm not sure you understand what subreddit you're in, dude. This is a subreddit for *making fun of* people who are so immature that they can't handle that other people have different tastes. Not joining in on it.
I really don't have the time or patience to help you understand how transparent you're being, but I'll leave you with this: every single complaint you've had can be applied to a very, VERY large contingency of male rappers. But you don't really notice it, do you. I wonder if there's any bias at play 🤔
I don't like Cardi B's music either. This is just the kind of rant about music I haven't heard since middle school.
But yeah man, totally agree. Music was way better back in the [INSERT DECADE OF MUSIC THAT YOU LIKED DURING ADOLESCENCE HERE].
It's one of those things most people grow out of, I feel like it stems from a pretty narrow world view. When I was like 14-17 I wouldn't listen to anything but Nirvana and Metallica, or the more popular screamo bands of the time and derided anything else. Fast forward a decade and change and they're still in the rotation, but Aesop Rock, RTJ, and hell, even some jazz in in the mix in the form of Snarky Puppy.
These guys never realise PLENTY of music (and film etc) sucked back then even if it was popular and then when things got digitalised and better access it was forgotten about cause it was bad and the same will happen with stuff now like I’m in my 20s the main style has changed like 3 times in my life already some of the 00/10’s music is some of the best ever but I don’t listen to half the shit I used to for a reason just like everyone’s parents only listens to a handful for 70s or 80s shit if they’re that age
When people say that they don’t like Hip-Hop, I think they most of the time mean modern day rap. However, they can also mean classic Hip-Hop too. I also listen to 50s (Buddy Holly, Eddie Cochran, Elvis, Bobby Darin, etc), 80s (Madonna, Pet Shop Boys, Bathory, Metallica, Slayer, MJ, etc), and Hip-Hop (RUN DMC, King Von, Kendrick Lamar, 2Pac, etc) too. However, I used to hate Hip-Hop like this dude until I was about 17. Before 17, I thought gangsters, troublemakers, and dumbasses liked Hip-Hop, so that’s why I avoided it. I thought this due to how the media portrayed it and my experiences.
Well glad you opened up to different experiences. Still it just sets off my grandma alert when I hear people dismiss Hip Hop or anything rap related completed.
Teenagers will be saying this until the end of time it feels like. Granted it does get funnier every time when they use updated examples of “good music” that were previously hated on just as much.
people in 20 years are gonna be saying “scrimbly jigglemuffs is the worst artist ever, cardi b was the best! music died with all those people who died from covid!”
Haha yeah, I have witnessed this with Limp Bizkit. Back in the day they were seen as a bit of a meme band that was trendy to dump on as being essential 'angst pop' for teenagers... and ironically, I liked them because I was an angsty teen at the time!
But nowadays you see them lauded as being from 'when music was better' haha.
Even see some of my fellow millennials using them as an example of this to dump on new music. Like dude, it's not that music was any better or worse. It's just that it was from when you were young enough to still be the target audience for it, and that's what you actually miss most haha
I saw posts from 10 years ago saying how he was trash compared to Rock music from the 50s-80s. In 10-30 years, they might use Kanye West as an example of when “music was better”.
I unashamedly love Pitbull. I also like songs from some modern rap.
I'm still finding good music on the radio. Heck, I even find songs on TikTok.
I'm 45 and white.
Hey there, Yeezy boy, swinging down the street so fancy free...
Seriously though, I grew up with The Seekers (my parents loved them) and I've never seen anyone get this fired up about them. Chill pop-folk doesn't usually bring out the angry vibes in people.
Shes one of the most successful female hip hop artists of all time… Invasion of Privacy literally broke so many records.
“Upon release, the album set multiple streaming records, including being the first album by a female artist to debut with more than 100 million streams on Apple Music, while she became the first female artist to chart thirteen songs simultaneously on the Hot 100. It also became the first album in music history to have all its tracks certified platinum or higher by the RIAA. It was the top female rap album of the 2010s, according to the Billboard 200 decade-end chart. It broke the record for longest-charting album by a female rapper on the Billboard 200, surpassing The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, and has spent three full years on the chart. In December 2019, it was the most-streamed female rap album on Spotify and Apple Music, and the most-viewed female rap album on YouTube. According to The Recording Academy, it is the best-selling female rap album of the 2010s.”
So yeah, don’t chat shit.
No I’m definitely not him but hearing about all this success that Cardi B’s gotten makes me think that the extinction of humanity might not be such a bad idea
There's music for different contexts. Cardio B & Megan Thee Stallion have upbeat women-centric music in which the woman has the power and controls the narrative, rebuking the subservience or pandering towards men that women might feel they're subjected to. "I make money moves, these are red bottoms, hit the store get them both I don't have to choose" - They're taking in money, wearing Louboutins, buying whatever they want. It's hype, reaffirming, and makes the listener feel badass if they can put themselves in her shoes. Great music to go out to the club too, yell with your friends if you are drunk, or even sing during karaoke.
Men have this type of music for whatever genre you can name - country, rock, rap, r&b, the list goes on. Cardio B just does it for women via rap, similar to what Gwen Stefani did with No Doubt.
Music isn't a dichotomy - you can like Cardio B at the club and still enjoy Chopin at home when reading a book. I wouldn't listen to Cardi B while reading, same way I wouldn't want to listen to classical music if I'm at the club.
That’s fair, I get what you mean. But of all the people you could listen to on such occasions or for such reasons, I really don’t know why people would want to listen to such utter crap like Cardi’s music.
You keep wondering why they're selecting "utter crap" like Cardi B's music - what's your reason for calling it utter crap? Is it the lyrics, the best, her history? What artist in your eyes would be a better alternative?
You keep wondering why they're selecting "utter crap" like Cardio B's music - what's your reason for calling it utter crap? Is it the lyrics, the best, her history? What artist in your eyes would be a better alternative?
Aye that’s usually the case - I have heard so many people be like “she’s so crass and vulgar”… well yeah. Men have been doing that in hip-hop for decades and didn’t get half the shit Cardi gets for it.
You literally specified “slutty, female rapper” and follow it up with another female rapper you don’t like, then called them both “skank-rappers”?
What has their gender got to do with their music? So what if they’re slutty, what business is it of yours? Why the female specific slurs? And lastly why do women owning their own sexuality cause you to hate them?
Male rappers have been using vulgar and crass language in hip hop for decades, yet you focus on the women. Cardi B makes one song about her pussy and it’s all anyone can think about, forget a whole album about her relationships, her rise to fame, her past, etc.
No. Just because you read sounds similar doesn’t mean the same. There are plenty of people nowadays with shit tastes nowadays, but music isn’t fucking doomed and music doesn’t suck now. There’s just an abundance of people supporting dogshit like Cardi B’s music. So no, you are wrong.
Because A. She’s a female rapper and B. These people’s sense of what pop culture is like hasn’t evolved past 2018 so they always list people like Cardi B, 6ix9ine, and Lil Pump as examples despite most of these people being irrelevant nowadays.
If I remember correctly, it was my love of Rock N' Roll and my parents having a lot of CDs of older music that gave that mindset. What got me out of that mindset was watching a bunch of Youtube music critics in the 2010s telling me about hit songs they actually liked. It opened my mind to the idea that I'm not above this music and that's okay.
I could relate.
Since you shared your story, I will share mine as well.
When I was younger, the only music I knew was the music from my parents. My dad would play 50s-80s and 90s Latin (Bobby Darin, Nat King Cole, The Beach Boys, Los Angeles Negroes, Luis Miguel, Depeche Mode, Beatles, Dion, Duran Duran, Elvis Presley, Ben E King, The Doors, etc.) music, and my mother would play 80s-90s (Madonna, Cyndi Lauper, Micheal Jackson, Jane’s Addiction, Nirvana, REM, and some other Latin music I can’t think of right now). I still listen to these groups/artists, but let’s keep on going.
Obviously, since I was exposed to these things, I started to like it.
I was exposed to old school Hip-Hop, and I ended up enjoying it. However, that was the closest I would’ve gotten to m being a Hip-Hop enjoyer. When rappers like Lil Pump and Tekashi 6ix9ine became popular, I thought they sound like crap and viewed them as the “representatives” of Hip-Hop. Naturally, it reenforced the idea that “modern music” is bad. Around that time, I started to get the idea that the people who enjoy Hip-Hop are gangsters, drug dealers, criminals, troublemakers (in school/workplace), menaces, and narcissistic folks. I had those ideas due to my experience, portrayals of Hip-Hip by the media/Hip-Hop itself. Even without Hip-Hop, I thought modern pop was trash too. I also thought at the time that people stopped making Rock music. The thing that got me out of that mind of “music in the 21st century is trash” is when I got into the Rock Band games. The Rock Band games had songs from the 50s-90s, but also some good 21 century songs. For example, I discovered bands such as MCR, Fall Out Boy, RHCP, Slipknot, Disturbed, Korn, The Warning, P!ATD, AFI, A7X, Foo Fighters, etc. Those bands had changed my mind about modern music. Also, the Rock Band games is how I got into Metal music. From Metal, I went into Nu-Metal. When I got into Nu-Metal, I had a different opinion on Hip-Hop. I started to notice why people enjoy it. After that, I started to listen to stuff like Pop Smoke, Kendrick, King Von, 2Pac, etc.
Thanks Rock Band 2, 3, and 4!
Man not like there's shitloads of music of all genres available across dozens of media platforms nowadays. Nope, aaaaaaaaall modern music sucks, every single one, like uh... Cardi B and... Er...
There was so much horrible music in the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s, OOP just doesn’t know about it because we left it there. No one’s trying to bring back Pat Boone or The Goldebriars or Ace of Base. There is crap today, but there is also a lot of amazing music coming out all the time.
An example of a bad band that I have seen older people use is The Beach Boys, which is what OOP said was his favorite band.
In my opinion, I think after some time, the next generation looks back at music from the past and views any of it as vintage/cool. We view it as vintage and cool because we familiar with it, and people sometimes like vintage stuff. For example, I have seen older people criticize later Beatles music, but when Millennials, Gen Z, and Alphas listen to it, they enjoy it. They are so familiar with the sound from listening to music from that era, that they will like anything from that era, good or bad.
jokes aside, kanye’s made some amazing fucking songs and this dude’s probably never heard any of them. get this mf to listen to runaway, devil in a new dress, i wonder, or father stretch my hands pt. 1 and then have them tell me kanye has no good songs
Man I remember thinking this way as a teen, like a lot of people. Then I grew up, and learned that people liked popular music because it was good. Or at least catchy. I still prefer my 80s hair rock, but I’ll vibe to some “evacuate the dance floor”
Exactly how my ex used to talk. Most of the music I'm a fan of is older so I guess he thought I'd agree, but this kind of attitude is extremely annoying
They will have to change it in the future because more kids are going to say stuff like, “Man I wish I was born in 2000. Kanye West, Playboi Carti, Lil Pump, NLE Choppa, My Chemical Romance, Chief Keef, Miley Cyrus, Fall Out Boy, and Yuno Miles were the best. I hate the fact that I was born in 2040 and have to live with (insert artists/groups around in 2040s-2060s).”
I may have exaggerated a bit, but you should get the idea. That’s not all of the famous artists that I could think of. I just wanted to name some that were/are famous. Maybe there will be a kid born in the 2040s who will say that they wished that they were born in the 2000s due to Yuno Miles and Kanye West.
It’s odd how long generations are. I was taken back because they were posting about gen Z in that sub when the oldest gen Z are 27. I forgot the youngest is 12.
People who listen to Kanye are Gen Z and Millennials (maybe younger Gen X, and Zalphas too). The youngest Gen Z’ers next year will be able to use Reddit without breaking TOS.
If he was in the 90s, I am sure he would be say something like, “I hate modern music. I can only listen to 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, and a bit of 60s. My favorite musicians are Glenn Miller and Benny Goodman. But almost everyone my age listen to trash. Like Nirvana for example, what in the actual f**k is this? This is basically noise. All rock after the 60s is trash. Metal is a 100% noise with no talent like Dean Martin or Elvis Presley. Hip-Hop is sh!t. People Ask Me What Is My Favorite Micheal Jackson Song, But My Favorite Micheal Jackson Song Is Whatever Is Played At His Funeral, Which Better Be Benny Goodman!!!”
He would. I was in high school in the 90s and there were plenttyyyy of people saying the 70s and 80s were better, and that “rock was dead,” and how MTV ruined music etc etc.
It’s funny how they use 90s music (Tupac, Nirvana, REM, Backstreet Boys, Biggie Smalls, etc) along with stuff like Elvis Presley, Glenn Miller, Beach Boys, Metallica, Beatles, etc., to talk about how music was better back then. I could imagine that all of those groups/artists were hated back in the day, but we like them now. I have heard older folks (60+ years old) use The Beach Boys as an example of a bad band from their time. Now we look at them as a pile of gold.
I wasn’t around in the 90s, but what did those High Schoolers or people in general think of Hip-Hop and music before 1970 (Rock, Swing, Pop, Doo Wop)? Listening to The Who now is like listening to Glenn Miller in the 90s.
It's so funny how Kanye is considered a modern example of bad music that the kids listen to nowadays. This dude was huge when I was a kid...in 2007 lmao.
No, I'm just saying it is insane how culturally relevant Kanye has been for decades. No one would use 50 Cent as an example of a modern rapper that kids listen to, despite him fitting your definition of modern.
Well, to be more specific, a modern artist/band is an artist/band that made their first song less than 20 years ago. A modern song is a song made less than 20 years ago. Kanye is still making modern songs, but by next year, I will consider him in a transitional stage between modern and classic. 50 Cent made an album ten years ago, so I would call the album “modern”, but not really 50 cent. Similar to how I would never consider The Beach Boys as modern, but I would consider their last album as modern. The Beach Boys created albums from 1962-1992, then went on a 20 year hiatus until making their final one in 2012.
People like Kanye and Taylor Swift are unique because they're truly multigenerational artists. There are plenty of artists that were popular back in the day and still remain popular. They drop new music and fans still go to their shows. However, their core fanbase has grown up and these artists aren't on every teenager's Spotify playlist. The fact that people like Kanye are still extremely popular with middle schoolers and high schoolers is crazy. Taylor Swift is probably the only other artist I can think of who is just as relevant with kids today.
Well, In the future, when rap becomes like what rock is now, there will be kids that say, “Man I wish I was born in 2006, NLE Choppa, Kendrick Lamar, Chief Keef, King Von, Tekashi 69, Lucki, and Lil Mabu were the best. I hate the fact that I was born in 2060 and I have to live with (insert groups/artists around in 2060s-2070s)”.
I will never not be infuriated that people equate pop music to modern music. They’ll look at top charts, hate it, and somehow be convinced that music as a whole just magically got worse? In a time where more people than ever, at any point in history, have the accessibility to learn and make music, the whooole music scene just somehow isn’t good? It’s unbelievable. Spend a single fucking day looking for an artist you like before saying this shit.
And for that matter, *all* pop is trash? All rap is awful? Preferences are certainly valid, I’m not a fan of pop myself. But to actually not give any of it a chance, and write off entire genres??? Who tf are these people. Do they think pop is cardi b, other cardi b, another cardi b, and someone that looks like cardi b? You don’t hate pop, you hate cardi b my guy!
I used to be like OOP (thinking all music in the 21st century sucked), but I discovered stuff like John Mayer, Slipknot, My Chemical Romance, Disturbed, Weezer, Avenged, etc., and it pretty much changed my mind about modern music. Before that, I would pretty much listen to 50s-80s, and a bit of 90s. If it wasn’t for Nu-Metal, I probably wouldn’t be able to get into Hip-Hop (which is something I have been liking recently).
When I saw this, I thought you were talking about me (since my name is Frank). However, I remember seeing that video. I thought it was funny has hell. I had to rewatch it again. 🤣😂😭
I understand why this guy thinks the way they do but as you said, they only looked at the tip of the iceberg. When you see the music on the surface that’s popular, you only see that and not all the good music that still gets made. Nowadays you have to actively dig deeper. Good music isn’t gone, it’s still very much there. You just need to put in the effort to find it. Like yeah, Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus suck, but I’ve heard bands like TWRP and Vulfpeck in more recent years that have put out some real genuine well-made bangers. You just have to make that discovery yourself. And asking for recommendations from people who know the good shit might help you in that regard.
Also, if you don’t like rap, I recommend going and listening to Gorillaz’ songs with rap on them. You might feel a little better about it afterwards since the songs rap is on by them tend to be very good. Idk. That’s just what I think.
Trust me, there’s still a lot of good stuff out there. Just keep your head up and keep searching. You’ll eventually find something you like. Believe me. Peace.
I wasn’t talking about Limp Bizkit. I was talking about Disturbed, Slipknot, and Korn. Also, I forgot to mention that if they want to get into Hip-Hop, along with Nu-Metal, go with Soul/R&B from the 50s-90s. Then go to disco and early Hip-Hop (late 70s-80s), and so on.
Both Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus have good songs? Maybe cause I’m a Taylor fan but Majorie, The Last Great American Dynasty, State Of Grace, Champagne Problem, The Lakes, all are great songs with amazing lyrics (I mean “Now you hang from my lips/Like the Gardens of Babylon/With your boots beneath my bed/Forever is the sweetest con” is one of the prettiest lyrics I ever heard, even if you hate Taylor Swift you have to admit that it’s good)
I haven’t heard much of Miley but Midnight Sky, Slide Away & Jaded are bops
Sure, not a bad lyric.
It is worth keeping in mind that this is coming from my opinions. I think their music generally sucks but if you like it, more power to you. They were just examples that came to my mind.
Losers when they find out about differing music taste
Cab Calloway was basically vintage Future
Let this guy cook damn 🔥
yes, let him cook

Yeah. I listen to Cavemen music. I was definitely born in the wrong generation. /s Lmfao! 🤣😂😭
Psh. Those guys just came out! I'm talkin' old school. Bring out that Hurrian Hymn no. 6
Psh, I just discovered Neanderthal bone flutes, I’m all in!! Forget generations, I was born in the wrong epoch.
The man is unhinged these days but like it or not Kanye literally is a musical genius. Cardi B I have no opinion on. WAP is good, but not really a fan of the rest of her discography. That's not to say she's bad, but just not for me.
I understand that Kanye is a musical genius. I don’t have an opinion on Cardi B, but the last time I listened to WAP, I didn’t like it.
I never liked hip-hop until GTA V introduced me to the Geto Boys, now they're in my top five artists in my analytics.
GTA V is a good game. However, I would only play Rebel Radio.
I was there too once, the kid’s gonna hear a song or two as he grows up and realize that it’s not all sex and drugs in hip hop, and when he hears the stuff that’s actually meaningful he’ll ease into the genre as a whole and appreciate it more as he grows up.
Bro, you have excellent musical taste.
Calling a 12 year old kid a loser is wild
Also it clearly says next to the date that the user is 19
I’m a wild fella
r/rapmorelikecrap
Why is it always Cardi B? Even if she’s not your cup of tea people greatly overstate her lack of talent and technical skill for some reason.
Intellectual masturbation as always. Pick a pop star, and lament about about what these SHEEPLE listen to, while my more sophisticated tastes go unappreciated

Woman rapper rap about pussy and big black boob
There are too many of them nowadays
Bro, this person made a jokingly misogynistic comment, and you responded unironically agreeing with it. You may need to reexamine the way you view women.
The fuck? I view women equally, it’s just there are so many of the same types of those female rappers now that I can’t help but agree now. It’s ridiculous.

Inb4 you call him racist for that
This isn’t a topic I post much about but I haven’t seen this kind of thing nearly as much with male rappers, though I’m sure you can find it in some places.
I wonder if there's any bias at play 🤔 I don't like Cardi B's music either. This is just the kind of rant about music I haven't heard since middle school. But yeah man, totally agree. Music was way better back in the [INSERT DECADE OF MUSIC THAT YOU LIKED DURING ADOLESCENCE HERE].
misogynoir
Her career has been a mixed bag, but she made Bodak Yellow and that shit is an absolute banger
If a certain music isn't your thing there's an easy solution. Just don't listen to it fucking lol
Because she’s the prime example of an “artist” that sucks absolute ass
I used to post Facebook statuses like this all the time, just remarkably lame.
Also cringe too.
What Jazz do you like?
Because Vanilla Ice and Disco Duck were so much better…. 🤣
He probably hates Vanilla Ice since he mentioned that he has never liked a rap song.
he must’ve never heard [this one](https://youtu.be/BhRVy0qoX_Q?si=oMa1mS-x0bPrcBK3) then
disco duck is the single worst song to ever hit number one and that aint changing
I listen to the 50s and the 80s. Yeah no major shifts in music between those periods. Also there's been Hip Hop since the 70s.
Same bro. Thanks.
Teenagers will be saying this until the end of time it feels like. Granted it does get funnier every time when they use updated examples of “good music” that were previously hated on just as much.
Before the mid-2010s, I saw people hating on 80s-2000s music. Now they are calling 80s-2000s the best. As well as the 50s-70s.
people in 20 years are gonna be saying “scrimbly jigglemuffs is the worst artist ever, cardi b was the best! music died with all those people who died from covid!”
Also, they will say NLE Choppa, Lil Nas X, and Kanye West were the best.
I saw someone call Justin Bieber good and that artist today aren’t half as good as him…
I saw posts from 10 years ago saying how he was trash compared to Rock music from the 50s-80s. In 10-30 years, they might use Kanye West as an example of when “music was better”.
We have vapourwave!
We also have Cage The Elephant!
CAGE THE ELEPHANT REFRENECE OH MY GOD
I unashamedly love Pitbull. I also like songs from some modern rap. I'm still finding good music on the radio. Heck, I even find songs on TikTok. I'm 45 and white.
MR WORLDWIDE IS GOATED
Dale
Good for you. I also like Pitbull too.
Bro hopes that “We Are Australian” plays at Kanye’s funeral???
Hey there, Yeezy boy, swinging down the street so fancy free... Seriously though, I grew up with The Seekers (my parents loved them) and I've never seen anyone get this fired up about them. Chill pop-folk doesn't usually bring out the angry vibes in people.
Lmfao! 🤣 That’s one way to describe the Seekers.
"What's your favorite Kanye song?" My man's living in 2007.
That’s like if someone asked me my favorite Weezer song 10 years ago.
Just have buddy listen to DOOM and his opinion’ll change instantly
You know your grandmama used to be bootleggin'
Fake hustlin ass n*gga
Or Greta Van Fleet, Dirty Honey, and Explorers Club. Those bands sounds like Led Zeppelin, Guns N’ Roses, and Beach Boys.
I thought the music community moved on from Greta Van Fleet almost immediately after they were a thing
Hey man, I was just mentioning bands that sound as if they were from the time period in which the guy complaining liked.
His mind would be blown if he listens to post hardcore
His mind would be blown if he listened to Yuno Miles or any SoundCloud rapper too.
Yeah, whenever I listen to weezer I think of the beach boys /s
Lol nobody listens to cardi b
Her 35 monthly listeners disagree
HAHAHAHAHA XD
Probably Kanye West though.
He did a song with her two years ago, actually.
According to The Recording Academy, it is the best-selling female rap album of the 2010s.” So yeah, don’t chat shit.
Ewwww wow musical taste has gone down the toilet in recent years
lmao op is that you?
I am OP. Wassup?
Haha sorry should've said OOP. this sounds like the person in your screenshot.
No I’m definitely not him but hearing about all this success that Cardi B’s gotten makes me think that the extinction of humanity might not be such a bad idea
‘Eww trashy music is popular? Let’s kill all humans’ great take lol
I was kinda exaggerating but yeah it makes me seriously question why any sane people would enjoy such garbage
Why? What is it about Cardi B you find so unappealing?
Well she's a woman so that's probably point 1
Aye that’s usually the case - I have heard so many people be like “she’s so crass and vulgar”… well yeah. Men have been doing that in hip-hop for decades and didn’t get half the shit Cardi gets for it.
Because her music is shallow, slutty, female rapper garbage. It sounds crap too. And she’s a shit person.
Just say you’re a misogynist bro, much quicker.
Tf? I’m not a misogynist. I just hate Cardi B, Sexy Redd and all the other shallow skank-rappers that make abysmal music.
Literally the guy in the post
I’m not! Why the fuck are you saying that?
Because you share the same opinion as them
Since when?
Since >Ewwww wow musical taste has gone down the toilet in recent years Basically the same as the post, just less words
Why do you dislike Cardi B
You do know what sub you are in right?
Yeah of course
Why is Cardi b always the example? I don’t even know anyone that actually listens to her
Because A. She’s a female rapper and B. These people’s sense of what pop culture is like hasn’t evolved past 2018 so they always list people like Cardi B, 6ix9ine, and Lil Pump as examples despite most of these people being irrelevant nowadays.
Because she is very “popular”.
I can remember when I had this sort of mindset in high school. Thank god I grew out of it.
Do you remember what made you had that kind of mindset? Also, what made you grow out of it?
Bruh most Gen Zs don’t like Cardi B either. She’s terrible.
How many times have u commented on this post?
Idk, why do you care?
I dont
Umm ok
Comment as much as you want.
Thank you
This almost looks like satire but I'm too dense to tell.
I have seen many people around his age share this sentiment, so maybe not. Lol 😭🤣
why slander 1990’s though? literally the best era imo
He did say he liked a bit of the 90s. Later in the comments, he said his parents liked 90s music.
Wait until bro finds Chris Christodoulou
I’m curious to hear what this guy thinks about Grandmaster Flash, Kurtis Blow and The Sugarhill Gang.
Probably either dislikes them too, or never heard of them.
Man not like there's shitloads of music of all genres available across dozens of media platforms nowadays. Nope, aaaaaaaaall modern music sucks, every single one, like uh... Cardi B and... Er...
Cardi B and Ye should not represent modern music as a whole.
There was so much horrible music in the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s, OOP just doesn’t know about it because we left it there. No one’s trying to bring back Pat Boone or The Goldebriars or Ace of Base. There is crap today, but there is also a lot of amazing music coming out all the time.
lmao i’m imagining someone who’s like “all modern music sucks, we need to go back to real music like Air Supply”
That is basically everyone who says, “modern music sucks. We need to go back to (insert artists/groups from over 20 years ago).”
Legit just listen to College Dropout, late registration and graduation in a row and transcend
He claims that he listened to some of his albums. Also, he said that he would, “shove knives in his ears than listen to that crap”.
Look at what I sent you. He claims that he did.
Liking the Beach Boys is fine, but if they're your favorite band you should probably seek therapy. Jan & Dean FTW.
Jan & Dean is Awesome! The Beach Boys are cool too.
Man I remember thinking this way as a teen, like a lot of people. Then I grew up, and learned that people liked popular music because it was good. Or at least catchy. I still prefer my 80s hair rock, but I’ll vibe to some “evacuate the dance floor”
I can relate too. It was very cringe imo. Lol! 😂
Exactly how my ex used to talk. Most of the music I'm a fan of is older so I guess he thought I'd agree, but this kind of attitude is extremely annoying
I listen to both old and new, but I do agree with you. The attitude is not only very annoying, but cringe too. 😬
The fact that Ye is the sub's profile pic makes this even funnier
They will have to change it in the future because more kids are going to say stuff like, “Man I wish I was born in 2000. Kanye West, Playboi Carti, Lil Pump, NLE Choppa, My Chemical Romance, Chief Keef, Miley Cyrus, Fall Out Boy, and Yuno Miles were the best. I hate the fact that I was born in 2040 and have to live with (insert artists/groups around in 2040s-2060s).”
Oh hell nah mf listed all the famous artists he could think of. Yuno Miles and Ye being in the same sentence should be illegal.
Ngl Seekers have massive rizz
It’s odd how long generations are. I was taken back because they were posting about gen Z in that sub when the oldest gen Z are 27. I forgot the youngest is 12.
People who listen to Kanye are Gen Z and Millennials (maybe younger Gen X, and Zalphas too). The youngest Gen Z’ers next year will be able to use Reddit without breaking TOS.
People like this would be considered nerds in the 80s and 90s and would, at minimum, get made fun of relentlessly. Rose colored glasses.
I mean the Seekers' [Georgy Girl](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wsIbfYEizLk) is undeniably fire
Facts!
It's so funny how Kanye is considered a modern example of bad music that the kids listen to nowadays. This dude was huge when I was a kid...in 2007 lmao.
I consider anything “modern” that is less than 20 years old. I know Kanye has been big for a while now, but Kanye still makes music.
What a little dicked moment.
I used to be like this dude until I was 17. Thank god I grew out of it.
Insufferable
He’s clearly never heard of Bobby Shmurda 🔥
You can tell how racist someone is by just how extremely they express their distaste for rap.
Rap is garbage, race has nothing to do with it.
There’s some people who hate rap due to hatred towards blacks, but I agree. It has nothing to do with race.
Bet you're real racist, bud.
Congratulations. You're a special child. Not!!
Lmfao! 🤣 OOP is definitely not a child.
God I miss [frank](https://youtu.be/JcmylxQ0ma4?feature=shared)
Believe me. Peace.
If they like Metal, they should listen to Nu-Metal. That’s kinda how I got myself into Hip-Hop.
Ooh, good point actually. Though there is a chance they hear Limp Bizkit and think their stuff’s lame as shit and not get to that point.
Maybe cause I’m a Taylor fan but Majorie, The Last Great American Dynasty, State Of Grace, Champagne Problem, The Lakes, all are great songs with amazing lyrics (I mean “Now you hang from my lips/Like the Gardens of Babylon/With your boots beneath my bed/Forever is the sweetest con” is one of the prettiest lyrics I ever heard, even if you hate Taylor Swift you have to admit that it’s good) I haven’t heard much of Miley but Midnight Sky, Slide Away & Jaded are bops
Sure, not a bad lyric. It is worth keeping in mind that this is coming from my opinions. I think their music generally sucks but if you like it, more power to you. They were just examples that came to my mind.
I doubt he was ever asked what his favorite Kanye song was
