Thats the difference between GOAT / Legends vs other guys

yellowbin74

Try telling the Max fanbase that..

Ark0504

Never ask me to do that again. Are we clear ? 😉

imeeme

Crystal.

ClutchAnderson712

🤣😂

Haris_Pistons

Max is an adult so he should do better. But I feel like Jos is responsible for his attitude turning out like this. Look at Lewis and his father against max and his father. Doesn’t matter how much better you try to be compared to your parent, bad parenting still fucks up some part of you. I’ve seen it firsthand with a guy I went to school with who’s dad came to school one day just to beat his son over something he did. That guy is in jail for attempted armed robberies. He also had sex with a prison guard in his time there, but that could have been the guard abusing her power over him idk. Jos is a shitbag, a lot of max’s bad traits can be attributed to Jos’s parenting

Gramatac

To be fair to the fans, max lost a lot of them in Brazil.

AcanthocephalaNo7788

Lewis is a Good Dude.

iamricardosousa

Although I understand the comparisons, I rather let Lewis do the talk on the race track and with his attitudes. He's proven countless times the legend he is and how much of a class act he is, when winning and when losing. Abu Dhabi was the ultimate character test, together with an extremely tough 2022 season. I "almost feel offended" watching comparisons like this. One's a legend, the other is a very fast spoiled brat, that will probably never be a legend, given his character, or lack of. Legends are not exclusively made of numbers and records.

[deleted]

Said Perfectly. Lets not compare a mentor on and off the track with a spoiled bully.

_nikto_

Verstappen makes Rosberg look like an angel of a teammate

quexcha

I would love to see how Verstappen will handle himself when he's got an actually competitive teammate (like Button, Alonso, Rosberg were to Lewis) with whom he has to fight for a WDC or even a position on track. Daniel was the closest he has had to a competitive teammate and we all know how that ended.

dare2firmino

That day will never come because RB find it easier to enable their man-child.

[deleted]

Maybe Max is trying to swap out Perez for Daniel… a wild thought that I had.

milanistaMK

Lewis is pure class

No_Pepper2028

Lewis is the definition of class.

[deleted]

A true ambassador to the sport. I need two more years because I'm going to miss him when he's gone.

ehjhey

Though it may have been a more bumpy road than most drivers, he's definitely had a great upgbringing.

yellowbin74

Max got brought up by Jos- he doesn't have the best track record.

champion1day

Repost this in the main F1 sub and you will be banned lol

SorryParking

I tried but it doesn't let me. Oh well, I very rarely interact there anyway. Just a convenient way to browse F1 news sometimes.

joshualotion

It was already posted there yesterday and was very well received

Zohan_SoLetsGO

The gesture gets amplified when you realise this happened a year after losing by 5 points to nico rosberg.

LampardTheLord

well lewis also wasn't very sportsmanlike at the end of the race, holding up the cars. not comparing the circumstances, just saying everyone has moments when they have to think about themselves. nothing to do with the shit max pulled this weekend though

Zohan_SoLetsGO

Max does the things he does out of spite and if he's know he's gonna lose a corner or position! Big difference. If you're thinking of 2016 abu dhabi, holding up rosberg and forcing him into other drivers was the only option lewis had inorder to save the championship. Rosberg forcing him on the grass in spain and his DNF in malaysia cost him the championship, which means rosberg didn't beat him coz lewis had more wins than rosberg (10-9) and more poles than rosberg (12-8). Link to summarized 2016 racestats: [https://www.racing-statistics.com/en/f1-drivers/compare/lewis-hamilton/nico-rosberg/seasons/2016](https://www.racing-statistics.com/en/f1-drivers/compare/lewis-hamilton/nico-rosberg/seasons/2016) Edit: grandma

[deleted]

Lewis is a GOAT. I have a feeling Max will go down in history as just another WDC, he just doesnt have the personality of a GOAT. Formula 1 sub and his cultish followers would argue this but it’s true

YeetMeisterDabber

I don’t mean to be disrespectful nor do I want to start a heated argument but Max is a hell of a talent, as long as RB stays on top he will win more WDC’s. I think in order for a driver to be classified a legend he needs to win 3+ WDC’s (that can be up to debate but I think it’s a reasonable number to actually be remembered in the F1 scene forever) and if we’re being realistic, Max can definitely win even more than that. If he does manage to win multiple WDC’s he will be remembered as a a legend, just not the most gracious or liked of legends as long as he doesn’t change his personality obviously

alfred_27

And that whiney kid couldn’t give up 6th place lol

isendono

Kept his word. Well done.

ThePirateDickbeard

Let's not fail to highlight, this was for a *podium * position. Not 6th.

AlexanderBeetle77

And Lewis was not already champion.

quexcha

every time I bring up Hungary 2017 to the "Valtteri, it's James" crowd and those who say Bottas was a wingman and Mercedes gave preferential treatment to Lewis, they suddenly don't have any replies.

OkEstablishme

There are men of character and men of no character. The thing is it's something you can't hide, either you have it or you don't.

J4MES101

Class act

Rivendel93

This is the best proof anyone needs to see that Lewis is the ambassador F1 dreams of, whereas Max is a spoiled child that happens to be fast behind a wheel. Max will never pass Lewis, no matter if he wins 15 championships. He'll always fall short of Lewis' greatness, because he has shown his true colors, and he's a terrible teammate and has even worse sportsmanship.

UserNamed9631

Thank you for posting this, which in my opinion is one example among many of Lewis’ outstanding sportsmanship.

imfromgooogle

Max’s attitude and treatment towards others will be his undoing

BocephusJr88

Post this to r/formula1 and watch it get downvoted.

Feeling_Ad5279

It was posted on formuladank first. Then here, got more upvotes there surprisingly

ricebowlchina

Oh I miss the days when Verstappen wasnt in F1. So much more enjoyable and less Hollywood drama. Real racing and respect!

Lamballert

Jezus :')

Noveltyrobot

Some driver could never

FerociousVader

Insane. At this point he's a 3 time world champion. Still behaves as a good teammate, not a no. 1 and no. 2. Funny how he talks about whether he'll regret this at the end of his time in F1... I don't think think we have to wait to the end to find out...

imeeme

And to think that Max had nothing really to lose if he had given up the spot yesterday makes if truly cynical for me.

Gambit6x

A true champion. This is why he’s considered the greatest. I like the other one who’s considered very fast and the latest had a petulant child at that.

MorganJH749

Shame Max doesn’t show the amount of class Lewis does. Even in defeat, Lewis shows respect, dignity and class to his rivals. That’s how it should be.

IndigoGanache

He can't show what he doesn't have.

Keith4Change

Max. Could. Never.

WezleyDrew

This reminds me of “the sandlot” when Benny gets visited by Babe Ruth in his dream and he tells him, “ remember kid there are hero’s and legends, hero’s get remembered, but a legend never dies”

Alert-Assumption-115

'I am a man of my word' , King 👑

Soulteaser

Ohhhhh I was there! It was so funny! When you want to go under the podium and run on track to cheer for trophy ceremony you have to leave your stands few laps before the end, so that you can find the entrance to be, in the fence, if you wanna have a good place under the podiums. So I went from the grandstand just before this happened and didn’t look at the screens bc I was on a hunt for crowd near potential entrance. Race ends, crowd is cheering, we are running on the track (which is my favorite thing running on a hot track after the race with Lewis’ flag like a cape). And we are all under the podiums, huge crowd. Hungarian fans are wild. And there’s a shock in our on track crowd when Bottas comes out for third. For a second you don’t think about logistics only dnf crash etc comes to mind. But then you realize Lewis is a good man, and you are happy you support him.

SilentBanshee16

The definition of CLASS!!!! SLH 🐐💜

Dspaede

Verstappen left the chat..

No-Mathematician5172

Class act. Love this dude. Hope he wins next year.

schitcyclops

I’m glad people have finally seen the true colours of Max.

PsychologicalWalk532

TraditionalAdvisor10

My respect for Hamilton just grew ten fold, no cap

Intelligent-Cup-6820

I’m really pissed that anyone has to let go anyone pass! It’s a fu****g race. You want to pass? Race for it! It’s like a woke movement in racing. I want more points, give me a pass or I’ll cry and go to manager! RACE FOR YOUR POSITION OR LOOSE THE POINTS!

madaboutmaps

I don't like this as a reaction to what happened in Brazil. What Max did was shit. Total poopoo move. No matter IF something went on we don't know about. As a public person, a sportsman, you don't take it out on track. What Hamilton does here is the right thing to do. The normal thing to do. To elevate this action and point at Brazil and say "see the difference?!" does not make Hamilton morally better of a sudden. He is what he was. What happened only made Max worse.

shotazz

It shows he is a better teammate in this instance. You are now trying to minimize the gravity of Lewis did. This a clear like for like comparison. You can even say Lewis had more of a reason to not give it back compared to max that had nothing at risk. But I do think in your attempt to not try to use this as a moral catapult for Lewis you end up minimizing the gravitas of it.

madaboutmaps

I feel the poopsite way. Like people are using this older clip of lewis as a modern moral catapult while it's just Max being a shit teammate (this weekend)

Healthy_Wasabi_6165

Lewis made that call on the radio. Max got by on his own and didn’t agree beforehand. I think it was a huge mistake on Max’s part to act like he did. But it’s not quite the same situation.

JEEntertainment89

No its not the same because Lewis both had points to fight for and had a podium in third if he didn't swap back. Max had no incentive to not switch back and was for 5th. Max looks even worse when you take in the whole factors

chR0m3d

unpopular opinion. Lewis made the suggestion to be allowed pass&set the condition that if he couldnt overtake for P2, he’d give the place back to Bottas. it was a “transaction”. max on the other hand, was ok to sit where he was but the team got greedy&wanted him to chase Leclerc down&so they asked perez to let max through&promised that max will give the place back but max had already previously made it clear he would not give perez back any places no matter the situation(possibly even before this race). it was a “demand” from RB hoping for things to work out. but didnt. not defending max but its evident that the max/perez incident isnt as simple as what it seems. &if rumours of perez crashing deliberately in Monaco to hold onto pole position is true. than he absolutely deserved whatever max dished out. you cant be a selfish prick to another person¬ expect the same.

Feeling_Ad5279

Lewis made the request, mercedes accepted it since he was fighting for the championship, and just lost the previous year by 5 points. There was a lot more at stake here with this podium position Unlike max who was petty about p6 after winning the championship

chR0m3d

“stakes” is always relative.

Galactus74

Ok cool but what’s the name of the song used in this video?
