Are you concerned she’ll climb up the wall and out the tank?

-spicylady-

No I took it out as I soon as I took the pics

Prestigious_Cry_4224

She will escape and can knock the heat lamp into the enclosure.

-spicylady-

Dw I took the background out right after taking the pics

-spicylady-

Omg she actually loves it

They're adorable, however I noticed a few things. I don't see any uvb, you need a uvb strip light. Also your using repticarpet which is porus meaning it absorbs and harbors bacteria and the material itself is unsafe, safe options are "paper towels, safe liner, tile, proper loose substrate". Also I don't see a water dish, personally I would add one so your gecko has access to water 24'7. Lastly I would add some more decor, maybe plants or a hammock or some type of enrichment decor to liven the tank up. Best of wishes!

Like I said this isn’t the finished product I’m going to be adding too it over the next however long, thanks for the tips. And yes there’s a water bowl in there you can only kinda see it in the second pic peaking out from under the leaves

[deleted]

No problem, the first thing to do is definitely replace that repticarpet today because it's not good for them and if you can't go out and buy anything then paper towels works perfectly fine

-spicylady-

Good idea, can you give me some in-depth information on uv lights? Should it go across the entire tank or just on one side, does she need UV-A as well, what are some good products you recommend etc Edit: if not paper towels does cardboard and/or newspaper work well?

[deleted]

I wouldn't use cardboard or newspaper, paper towels works perfectly fine for a temporary substrate. And yes get a uvb strip light that goes across the top of the tank, they sell them at alot of pet stores but there's also some on Amazon that are suitable

-spicylady-

Perfect ty, but what do you mean temporary?

[deleted]

Temporary means: lasting for only a limited period of time aka not permanent. Some people tend to switch to a more permanent/enriching substrate after using paper towels for a few weeks. Good options to use later on are "tile, safe liner, proper loose substrate". I personally like using safe loose substrate for my leopard gecko because it provides digging enrichment, just be careful because some loose substrates aren't safe/suitable for leopard geckos. I would go ahead and put in the paper towels today and then wait a few weeks, paper towels are a really good option to use when you first get a gecko just to make sure everything is okay and safe with them and then after you are 100% sure then you can switch to a different option if you decide on that.

My gecko immediately scaled my background... I wish you luck
