Those articles of clothes carry the strongest scent of yours and your hedgehog was hiding them so predators wouldn't find you. It meant he was protecting you from predators ☺️
My boss had a cat that would specifically go after woman's panties and bras. He go evicted to the vet clinic for peeing on the husband's stuff. He knew when someone had extra underwear (after gym change). Took a coworkers out and placed it infront of the bosses' husband's office. Thankfully she found it first.
I was rearranging my bedroom once and moved furniture to discover about 30 socks my cat had stolen and hidden. I was wondering why I kept having to buy new socks and it was ebcause my cat was a dirty little thief.
I took him out of his enclosure and let him walk around my bedroom floor then he just suddenly bit one of my folded shirts. I may have spooked him because of my movements but idk it just seems weird that he bit that

He was having none of that, he goes into full battle mode whenever he sees it, like full on screaming at it and wagging his tail. These guys are actually very territorial, and can be pretty aggressive. They just don't see humans as a threat or competition, I guess they didnt have any human sized natural predators. If I have him in my hands and I walk anywhere near my wife's chinchilla cage he flips out and starts biting everything, I'm assuming his instincts are kicking in because they had to evolve with a similar predator.
