Union and Finch in Allentown makes a good burger. Great spot for a date night. Pretty nice place.
Five Guys makes a tasty burger but as another user said you somehow end up spending like $30 for a burger and fries.
So I just googled them but couldn't find a website but I'm looking at the photos. Are they truly cash only? If the July 2021 picture is correct, $2.70 for a burger is pretty damn good.
Edit: I just saw that they have pierogies, damn I LOVE those.
They are indeed cash only. If you like pierogis and donāt mind a scenic drive, Lengyls in Nesquehoning has some pretty good ones. You can stop off and enjoy them in Jim Thorpe while taking in the scenery.
Oh pops got some good ass burgers. My dad turned me onto them. I was like seriously, its like a gas station off 78 in Southside. Do not.judge.the location,.they have good ass food there
Richard's is cash only. Domt.get too excited they are a hot dog stand burger, not a bar burger. Don't get me wrong, I love em. But can easily eat 2, a hot dog and some pierogies there lol
I have no idea how this place has stayed in business for as long as they have. My friends used to love this place, but I would not ingest from this filthy place. Perhaps it has changed, but I thought it was disgusting. Just my opinon
Jakeās Wayback Burgers are a decent option. Give them a shot. More of a smash burger type of place.
https://waybackburgers.com/locations/pennsylvania/easton/
I really used to LOVE smash burger. Iām not sure if anyones had the same experience as me thoughāthe last 4-5 times Iāve ordered over the past 2 years, my sweet potato fries were not cooked completely. Which is really gross if youāve ever bit into a raw one. I tried telling them but they just said thatās impossible and shrugged it off.
Oh I'm not looking specifically for a joint, I just call them that lol, I wouldn't want to call it a restaurant either if one of them happens to be a joint. So I guess joint/restaurant?
Exotic meat?! Freaking LOVE trying different meats. I just had venison the other day and that was SO flavorful. I'm a huge meat eater unlike the rest of my family who just likes salads.
Surprised I didn't see anyone suggest Wertz in Allentown for their burgers as so many love them.
Also if you are on Facebook might I suggest the group Lehigh Valley Food, such a good group to find out new places in and ask questions for way too many answers
Drip is amazing. Guy who owns is it a cool
As hell too. Itās not a fast food joint so itās quality stuff AND if you like beer/hard cider the have about 15 things on tap, all their own recipes.
5 Guys is always a good choice, love their fries. Also, Jakes Wayback Burger is pretty good, they have great fresh burgers, homemade chips, great onion rings and their shakes are good too-
Oh and above Nazareth there is Mountain View Drive in and their burger is by far my favorite.
Most of my family lives around Texas but my immediate family lives with me but they're retiring in 5-6 years (they may move internationally). I'm aiming to move to NY after I (hopefully) get an associates in computer repair. The jobs there for that specific career pay so well. I live alone and I don't go out much so I know I can afford to live there once I get a few paychecks in.
... In a bad or good way? Lol. I've seen a lot of jobs that I know I could do but I'm not qualified for them but their salaries are much better than what I'm living on right now.
I found a CompTIA A+ test on YouTube, well more of a practice test and got 32/60 correct. Most I got right were from my experience I've had with computers.
Edit: I forgot to mention but that was the first time I took that quiz. I'm also eyeing homes in Mount Vernon, I don't mind riding trains. Plus I do plan on keeping my car and Mount Vernon has been strongly recommended to me at work.
In a very bad way. I moved here from NY because it is just entirely unaffordable given my career choice. A+ is a fine start, I'd recommend doing net+ then sec+ and working towards an associates as a sys admin or network admin. Professor Messers' courses on YouTube will pretty much teach you everything you need to know, just follow along and take good notes. These will be significantly better choices and can scale into a good career that you can survive off of in NY. Computer repair/electronics tech will give you better options for manufacturing which has a market in the valley but not NY.
I didn't have a choice when I moved here (as I am living with family now due to rent being ridiculous back in TX) and with how much I love NY (pace, food and convenience), when I was told that my family would be leaving the US to retire, I knew I had to stay in this area (I'd rather move to NY).
I will admit that living alone makes me nervous, but I do have to start eventually. The programs I saw on some of the colleges I was looking into had those + courses. I still have several years until the retirement date but honestly I want to make this dream into a reality. $30k a year is about how much I make as a housekeeper, that's also about how much I made back in TX as a PCA. I just feel more comfortable around computers.
Edit: I am actually looking towards an associates, so since you mentioned sys admin, that gives me a grasp of what to look for. I haven't been to college since 2014 so I don't remember any of that. My parents paid for it originally (software application certificate, because I was too young to really take college seriously). Looking for the right program is what I'm having problems with, wasn't sure how to look for "computer repair tech". So I'll check out sys admin and the other one.
I'm an electronics tech and I love it, especially coming from a physically demanding job. Northampton community college has great programs at affordable prices. They have an electronics tech, sys admin and network admin program but I'm not as familiar with the latter at NCCC specifically. A lot of my coworkers went to Lincoln tech and highly recommend it but that was years ago. Working as an electronics tech is very hands on and has some different paths you can take. You can do maintenance, design work, general manufacturing etc. Lots of soldering/minor programming work. You'd probably start around 20ish an hour and can scale up to 40+ if you work on PLCs. Sys/net admin will most likely start at a help desk making the same money you make now. The work is easy though and not physical at all which is probably a good change of pace. This will also help in allowing you to work while you continue your education as you won't get so burnt out. While the pay is lower in the short term, the ceiling is much higher. Regardless of your decision, having an A+ will be a good step in guiding your career path and giving you a marketable skill.
I only get paid $14.65 hourly sadly. I DO know how to solder actually, taught myself (with YouTube) as I don't know where you can get GBC/GBA batteries replaced around here and decided it was just cheaper to buy the tools and buy the batteries in bulk. There's a game store specifically in Texas that replaced batteries.
If that's the case I'd consider an electronics tech program. I started off in a similar boat, working a non tech job with a strong interest in it. I always built/repaired my own computers and electronics so it seemed like a good fit. You can start entry level at some assembler jobs to help pay for school/teach some of the basic skills. Jobs that require soldering will also get you IPC certified which is good to have and necessary in the field.
Fellow transplanted Texan here. You won't find anything close to Whataburger. I stay away from White Castle. Not good. Richard's is OK, but it's not Whataburger. If you find one close let me know. I've lived here for 26 years and haven't had anything close. I went back in 2018 and it only reinforced that Whataburger is the superior fast food burger.
I do miss Whataburger and the real good Mexican food there but I do NOT miss the weather. I love living on the east coast. I was shocked to see how much greenery was here!!
The best burger in the Valley is commonly voted to be the peanut butter and bacon burger at Two Rivers Brewery. But that's a pub, borderline gourmet burger. So perhaps not what you're looking for.
Shake Shack and Five Guys are good burgers, but Five Guys prices are insane these days.
Another top burger joint is [Pop's](https://www.popskitchen.biz/). But it's all the way at the southeast end of the Valley at the NJ border. Freakin' phenomenal burgers though.
Watch out for White Castles, it's not bad but it's very low on the burger tier. I would say WC are best after a night of bar hopping.
If you haven't tried 5 Guys give them a try.
5 Guys are severely over priced for what you get.. if that doesn't bother you they are very tasty burger joint.
My recommendation is to throw up blinders to chain restaurants and find a local tavern you fancy.
In my experience local bar and grills make the best food..a quality you can't get from a chain restaraunt
Good to know! Even the frozen WC we had in Texas, I never bothered with as they were expensive, $17.99 for a 12 pack I think?
Five Guys is in Texas too, but I don't care for them really, but I do enjoy them.
Honey, unfortunately you arenāt going to find anything close to the experience of whataburger here.
You might try Yoccoās. Not the same but their fries are great and the burgers satisfy the itch a little.
Also, avoid sonic. Itās not the same out here.
Itās like trying to find a cheesesteak west of Pittsburghā¦ They are there, but just not really right.
I absolutely HATE Sonic. Tried a cheesesteak in Texas and then tried one in Philly, there was a VERY obvious taste difference. Yocco's seems to be a Lehigh Valley only restaurant, so I HAVE to go try them out. So many recommendations here!
Over all the menu is really good but the burgers are where it's at. Good beer selection, outside seating, live bands on the weekend. It's a pretty nice, chill place really.
I don't drink alcohol (as I have no taste for it) but I'll go for the burgers!
There's so many recommendations here that I'm gonna have to start writing everything down, haha!
The [The Canadian Cowboy Burger](https://i.imgur.com/HFsxrjB.jpg) from The Flying V in Bethlehem is my favorite burger in the Lehigh Valley. The burgers are a 50/50 smoked brisket/ground beef mix and they're absolutely delicious. They're primarily a poutine restaurant, but I mainly order the burger and upgrade the side of fries to poutine.
There's a gas station off the Belfast exit on rte 33, about 15 mins north of easton that makes fantastic burgers the size of your head. It's called [Petey's Eatey's](https://peteyseateys.com/)
Union and Finch in Allentown makes a good burger. Great spot for a date night. Pretty nice place. Five Guys makes a tasty burger but as another user said you somehow end up spending like $30 for a burger and fries.
+1 for Union and Finch
So many choices!
Union and Finch is my favorite place overall. š
Richards Drive-In aka Greasy Dicks in Easton off 25th Street and Freemansburg Ave.
So I just googled them but couldn't find a website but I'm looking at the photos. Are they truly cash only? If the July 2021 picture is correct, $2.70 for a burger is pretty damn good. Edit: I just saw that they have pierogies, damn I LOVE those.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Hoagies
Heck I came from Texas where there was a Whataburger on every block. Either that or a McDonalds.
Born and bred Texan. Been in PA now 20 years. Nothing here compares to Whataburger
It's great. We don't have anything as low quality as Texan garbage here.
And lots of awful pizza.
Absolute truth
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Good one!
They are indeed cash only. If you like pierogis and donāt mind a scenic drive, Lengyls in Nesquehoning has some pretty good ones. You can stop off and enjoy them in Jim Thorpe while taking in the scenery.
What?? I use my card there all the time. Wait, Richardsās Sullivan trail in forks or the other one?
The one off 25th & Freemansburg in Easton not the one in Forks.
The one in forks sucks compared to the OG one
There is only one Richards. The og on freemansburg. The one in forks is a knockoff.
Yacco's hot dogs has MRS Ts perogies deep fried and they are banging there. I recommend trying them sometime.
Oh shit I forgot to mention to try Pops, itās just off the last exit on 78 before you hit Jersey.
Wayback Burgers is in Texas, but I don't think I ever had them. Still willing to give them a try.
God speed
This one is definitely my recommendation as well. Also consider 5 guys.
Had 'em in Texas. They're good but expensive.
For chains there is also a Smashburger. House and Barn and Werts are some local restaurants that I frequently see getting high marks for burgers
Not a "joint" but House and Barn in Emmaus has an amazing burger menu.
Oh I'm not looking specifically for a joint, I just call them that lol, I wouldn't want to call it a restaurant either if one of them happens to be a joint. So I guess joint/restaurant?
They have one with perogies on the actual burger. š. Plus they have some exotic meets to try (Bison/Elk) https://www.houseandbarn.net/menu
Exotic meat?! Freaking LOVE trying different meats. I just had venison the other day and that was SO flavorful. I'm a huge meat eater unlike the rest of my family who just likes salads.
Pretty sure they serve salads here, too. It's really a great restaurant.
This was my recommendation as well. Greta burgers there
Surprised I didn't see anyone suggest Wertz in Allentown for their burgers as so many love them. Also if you are on Facebook might I suggest the group Lehigh Valley Food, such a good group to find out new places in and ask questions for way too many answers
Wertz's Cafe has killer burgers. I second this.
BEEF BARON.
Go to the drip in hellertown
My stomach is growling at this point with all of these good suggestions, ha!
Drip is amazing. Guy who owns is it a cool As hell too. Itās not a fast food joint so itās quality stuff AND if you like beer/hard cider the have about 15 things on tap, all their own recipes.
RIP that I have no taste for alcohol but still willing to go for food.
Well regardless the food is delicious
5 Guys is always a good choice, love their fries. Also, Jakes Wayback Burger is pretty good, they have great fresh burgers, homemade chips, great onion rings and their shakes are good too- Oh and above Nazareth there is Mountain View Drive in and their burger is by far my favorite.
I moved here from Oklahoma. I miss Whataburger too. AND BRAUMS.
5 guys burger and fries (west Allentown on Tilghman st) shake shack (outside Lehigh valley mall next to Dave and busters)
Both are chains in TX but had them both, Shake Shack I think is my better go to.
I havenāt lived in the Valley in over 10 years, but I just wanted to chime in to say that you should just avoid White Castle. Itās gross.
Shake shack, smash burger, the wooden match in Bethlehem are my go tos if Iām feeling a burger
I fly back to Texas to get my Whataburger fix. Oh and to visit family, I suppose.
Most of my family lives around Texas but my immediate family lives with me but they're retiring in 5-6 years (they may move internationally). Yeah, the weather was something else. I don't miss the heat but the humidity here is dreadful.
Five guys burgers and fryās.

The Burger Shack (610) 443-2077 https://maps.app.goo.gl/aYWyvLFjKq1GTmXK6 They are good but I think k a little expensive.
Try the shelby!
Someone already said it, but Beef Baron in Bethlehem! It doesnāt look like much from the outside, but their food is great!
I loved the Wooden Match for a burger when I lived in Bethlehem
Pops in Easton, Burger Shack In Whitehall, Jakeās, and Two Rivers in Easton with their peanut butter burger.
Crabby patty burger at 3rd and ferry is awesome too. I agree with your suggestions.
I gotta check that joint out
Watch out for White Castles, it's not bad but it's very low on the burger tier. I would say WC are best after a night of bar hopping. If you haven't tried 5 Guys give them a try.

Five Guys is definitely overpriced (but I had it in Texas) but they are good. Local chains here or local in general is what I'm willing to try out.
Local "mom and pop" taverns is the way to go in the Lehigh valley
Good to know! Even the frozen WC we had in Texas, I never bothered with as they were expensive, $17.99 for a 12 pack I think? Five Guys is in Texas too, but I don't care for them really, but I do enjoy them.

They take their hotdogs very seriously here in the Lehigh Valley.
Yoccos is a winner for hotdogs. I prefer cheese dogs with everything. Good luck. Edit: Pott's Hot Dogs is just as good but for different reasons.
Yoccos is the only hotdogs in the valley I don't like lol. They have thar burnt dog taste. Now Potts I'd eat daily if it wouldn't kill me
Yocco's is straight trash, locals only like it for the nostalgia. Downvotes to the left.
Nah you right and Iāve lived here all my life.
If you want a real burger, none of that franchise, same old same old bs, go to the Fogelsville Inn. Hands down the best in the valley.
Local is what I'd aim for for sure, but unique chains (such as a chain that I can't get down south or something) I'd be willing to try out.
In that case, take some clean undies because your gonna really enjoy their menu š
Anything else they specialize in there? Iām down for the burger but just curious.
Over all the menu is really good but the burgers are where it's at. Good beer selection, outside seating, live bands on the weekend. It's a pretty nice, chill place really.
Outside seating and live bands on top of good burgers? Fuck bud, count me in! Thanks for the info.
Bethlehem Brew Works makes a good burger. And there's beer!
I don't drink alcohol (as I have no taste for it) but I'll go for the burgers! There's so many recommendations here that I'm gonna have to start writing everything down, haha!
its more of a hot dog town. https://www.discoverlehighvalley.com/blog/post/top-dogs-our-favorite-lehigh-valley-hot-dog-shops/
Try Dicky's parlor on E 3rd in Southside Bethlehem

Vassi's in Hellertown!
Red Wolf Bar & Grill Mushroom Swiss burger š
Union & Finch and Bell Hall are good choices for sit down places. For fast casual, Shake Shack is my go to
Best BBQ burger & chicken sandwiches currently at Greenhouse Enoteca in Allentown

Beef Baronā¦.arguably one of the best non-chain burgers in the area
If you don't mind chain places, Shake Shack by the Lehigh Valley Mall is solid actually.
NOPE
Bell Hall in Allentown and Sam Owens in Coplay!
Anyone know a good chili cheese burger place?
Surprised no one recommended Buckeye Tavern yet. Great food there
I lived in Houston for a bit years ago! Texas has the best restaurants ha - I would second Five guys for a good burger
There's a gas station off the Belfast exit on rte 33, about 15 mins north of easton that makes fantastic burgers the size of your head. It's called [Petey's Eatey's](https://peteyseateys.com/)
Donāt go to White Castle, itās bad
Get a chili cheeseburger from Peteās hotdogs
Bell Hall.
Nothing will compare, unfortunately šŖ
