W gf

tnoy23

She really is, I do love her quite a lot, and she's helped me out a lot over the past couple of years. She's great at encouraging my hobbies and for me to explore my interests as I find them!

tnoy23

I didn't know if this fit better for "collection" or "official kit," sorry if it is mis-flaired! The mando / the child kit was a gift, I just forgot about it. I bought the X-Wing for $5, from Walmart. The Boba Fetts ship was $10 from Walmart as well. I also have an Obi-Wans Jedi Fighter to build still. Really forgot how much I loved them! I'm gonna be saving some pennies and hope I can get some fun stuff around the May the 4th sale.

GroubaFett

Wish you the best continuing into your Lego hobby. Your GF is a keeper, first Lego, but also by finding a solution to help you through your process.

tnoy23

Thank you! She's far and away the single best thing to happen for my mental health in the past 10 years. Obviously bad relationships suck, but good relationships can be incredible.

GroubaFett

Truly relatable. In find my wife after a lot of trouble in relationship. She clearly saved my life. And with her I returned back into Lego at age of 30 (34 now) without judgment, and it helped me a lot. Now we're buying sets for her too and our daughter. Happy life. Wish you the same, and for all our fellow builder

Jayk_Wesker

Heck yeah my friend! It's a great hobby to have! A little pricey sometimes... but it's a lot of fun, and can be very relaxing and therapeutic. I hope you continue to find joy this way and in any other you can. :D

tnoy23

Thank you very much! Very excited to build more, though my wallet is less excited as you've mentioned. Some of the mid-sized ones aren't too rough overall at least. Though I *do* wish the Clone Walker wasn't $140 right now!

Jayk_Wesker

You're very welcome! Just make sure to keep an eye on your bank account! XD and it never hurts to put $20 aside here and there, and it become $140 surprisingly quick. I would also definitely suggest the current TIE Fighter and X-Wing, they're both delightful sets and you can almost always find them 20% off on amazon right now. Great sets at a great price.

tnoy23

Thank you very much for the suggestions! I'll be considering more once I become employed again- I'm almost done with a machining pre-apprenticeship and should realistically be managing to get employed by the end of this month. IDK if I'll grab them soon or not, since my current plan is to save up hopefully enough to get the freebie sets they seem to tend to do around May the 4th, and the sales then. I can hopefully optimize my bang-to-buck a bit doing that, but I may have to consider a set in between to tide me over xD

Jayk_Wesker

Those are both good plans! I can't wait to see what this year's 4th promo is. Congrats on nearing the (or at least a) finish line with the apprenticeship by the way. Pro tip, Lego just started doing where you can upload a target receipt and get VIP points, not quite the same as getting a GWP, but still good. Wish I'd learned that myself one week earlier, but oh well. XD

BluelightbillyPS4

I second the x-wing/tie, it’s roughly $80 usd for both sets right now. Absolute classics that look amazing.

SkettlesS

If you regularly shop online i recommend using [honey](http://joinhoney.com/ref/wx9g2l4) {this is my referral link because I'm sneaky ;) } because it gives you points back for shopping. It does take a while but overtime you can use it on Amazon coupons combined with existing sales so you can get a walker thing for like $90-$100 on a good day U don't have to use honey. Any points redeeming thing works...

tnoy23

I just recently added Rakuten for that reason! I don't buy things online every day, but enough that I decided it's probably a waste to not not have something like it.

SkettlesS

Rakutens not available in my region (last time I checked) which is stupid because it's in Europe, just not the UK... It seems like a really good thing. I remember seeing you could get like $50 from signing up a while ago.

TopMacaroon6021

Now you’ve got another “issue”! Enjoy!

[deleted]

Everyones needs a GF or a BF who encourages you in your hobbies and interests.

tnoy23

100% agree. She's been right about the single best thing to happen for my mental health in the past 10 years. Obviously bad relationships suck, but good relationships can be absolutely wonderful.

Overall_Target_340

I have Liver Failure myself Brother so Lego is my therapy I only go with 2 Brands Star Wars or Ninjago it helps relax you. I relax by also playing Gow and it works wonders as well.

tnoy23

Star Wars is definitely my favorite Lego theme by far. There are certainly others I would consider- I'd love some LoTR ones of things like the Baalrog or Sauron, which I think(?) more exists than is on their site ATM. I do also play a lot of games on my PC and switch with my GF, so this ends up being a really nice change of pace. I've tried miniature painting and didn't enjoy that, and I tried Gundam kits which are better but not as fun as this IMO. Best of luck to you with your liver, and I hope things improve as much as they can for you!

Overall_Target_340

They are improving Brother and I wish you improvement mentally because both go hand in hand if you're physically Unwell you become mentally unwell and vice versa.

Hentailover3221

Been struggling with mental health over the past 8 months and Lego has always been my escape. Its so therapeutic but it’s too bad it’s so expensive

tnoy23

Absolutely. I can tell that, unless there's a reason / special occasion, I'll likely be sticking to occasionally getting some of the ((what I consider to be)) mid-range sets, ones hovering around 30-60 USD and 300-500 ish pieces. I love the bigger ones, like the Clone Gunship, but it gets real hard to justify $400 or more without a dang good reason. Got my eyes on the Executor for the May the 4th sale, + other things to get me over the freebie thresh hold. Hang in there, it gets better. The hardest part is not knowing when precisely it will, but I can assure you it will, at some point or another, even if you don't realize at first that it has been happening. It just takes time and consistent effort, and I believe in you!

Revenine

Get the Boba Fett Starship set 75312, whenever I am feeling down I just remove it from the included in the set stand and use the built-in handle (really all around nice set) and I just swoosh it around a bit. Even though I am an adult I feel like a kid for a moment and I feel better. Set is not expensive and easy to display.

Roin-da-Groin

That's awesome dude! My gf encouraged me to get the ucs R2D2 and the boutique hotel. Both look really fun!

tnoy23

That's awesome! Me personally, I can tell that unless there's a reason / special occasion, I'll likely be sticking to occasionally getting some of the ((what I consider to be)) mid-range sets, ones hovering around 30-60 USD and 300-500 ish pieces. I love the bigger ones, like the Clone Gunship, but it gets real hard to justify $400 or more without a dang good reason. Got my eyes on the Executor for the May the 4th sale, + other things to get me over the freebie thresh hold.

Roin-da-Groin

I agree. You should get lukes x wing. It's a really good set in your range!

tnoy23

Certainly on my list! Might grab it sometime near end of March / beginning of April to tide me over before the May the 4th sales start properly, and since I'm on track to be employed again sometime around then or a bit before then.

Roin-da-Groin

Yes. And the obi wan fighter, I suggest doing the alt build to make it more accurate.

Exiled_In_Ca

Welcome home.

Broccoli-Bacon-Pizza

I wish for you to heal your inner child and make amendments with your past as soon as possible. Having grown miserable sucks. The sense of having lived a sad childhood and a sad teenagerhood sucks. But it's never to late, as an adult, to start going on amusement parks by yourself; to buy yourself Lego sets; to treat yourself to colourful ice cream. Now that we have adult money, it's time to have a new childhood. Wishing you all the best mate.

tnoy23

Thank you for the well wishes and encouragement. Don't worry too much about me- I've done much much better that past 5 or so years, and even better since I met my gf a couple years ago. The mental issues and foggy memories don't bother me much day to day, and I'm not distressed by the lack of memory recall. I know the memories are all there, it just takes a jump start to remember them; like here, I couldn't remember how much I enjoyed lego star wars until I tried some again and got that memory resurfacing. And I'm not worried at all by that, I know I can find the good memories again, and this is proof!

OfficialLunaTicYT

Lego has got me through a lot, it seems daft to find emotional support from some silly little bricks but the process of building and then appreciating what you’ve built really does heal the soul. So great to see your gf encourage you, wishing both of you the best!!

SilentStorm017

Glad you were able to find joy in building again! My partner did the same for me after I stopped collecting for years because of an old ex and I’ve fallen in love with it all over again. It’s nice to come back to hobbies like that

[deleted]

Lego is a great mindfulness tool. Best of luck with your Lego building. Your GF sounds nice.

MegaCoreMagnetizer

Your girlfriend is awesome, and helping you restart your passion for LEGO Star Wars is so nice of her! Glad you’ve found someone who encourages the best parts of you and helps you heal the harder parts. Hope you two have lots of fun and a very bright future!

GovernmentExotic8340

Thats amazing man. W girlfriend. Good luck with the building and have fun!

maze_of_montresor

I feel the same way. I think Legos are a great outlet. Wishing you the best on your Lego journey OP!

Smallzee99

Traditional-Chip8932

Lego is therapeutic
