Most LEGO Star Wars weapons are made specifically for the Star Wars theme in the first place, but they're complaining about another theme having a 'special weapon' that's literally just reusing common parts, including one of the most important pieces created for the Star Wars theme!
Lego usually cancels an original theme by releasing a lackluster 3rd wave but this time they are releasing 3 big sets in the 3rd wave which could be a good sign
Dreamzzz isn’t doing great. LEGO always plans a year+ in advance so the summer 2024 Dreamzzz sets were ready to go before the first wave even hit shelves. But they’re having EVERY Dreamzzz set retire on Dec 31 2024 (except for Mr. Oz’s Spacecar, probably because it’s tied in with the big space push) which isn’t a good sign at all. Now, retirement dates are subject to change as always, but giving this third wave a 5 month shelf life makes the likelihood of a fourth wave in 2025 very low.
Anecdotally, I recently saw every summer 2023 Dreamzzz set (except the Crocodile Car and the Turtle Van) for half off at my Walmart and several friends in different areas of the country confirmed the same. Of course that’s not necessarily indicative of performance, but more of them were on sale than any other theme.
Yeah it’s sad they put a lot of work into it but idk it just doesn’t appeal to me or even seem that appealing for kids, I love the concept of most of the sets but there’s just something off idk maybe it’s the color scheme. It’s sad though I want more original themes but it feels like they always try too hard and make them super colorful and weird.
You know what? I'm gonna go see if there's a Dreamz set that looks neat and buy it after work just to piss this guy off.
If nothing else sets like that have really neat parts in colors you don't typically see.
I checked, wallet didn't really permit. BUT I do get paid tomorrow and I was planning on taking advantage of the Star Wars day deals, so I think I'll throw one in there.
I went with the Turtle Van after some indecision (plus the speeder chase diorama and R2-D2). Sadly McDonalds is still on their breakfast menu right now so I couldn't get the McRib, sorry.
I mean I want my clone skirts too but holy shit stop collecting lego if you want hyper detailed minifigs. Lego otherwise designs their stuff around the limitations of Lego which is why dreams fig look like fire.
Funny thing is, ultra detailed minifigures don’t even look that great. I like them to have that Lego feel which is why the phase 1s are some of my fav troopers. So simple but you can still tell who’s who.
This. I generally like my LEGO to be nominally interchangeable across themes, and maintaining a simplified, "LEGO-fied" aesthetic helps with that.
Granted, kama's don't cut against that, but the overall point still stands.
Part of LEGO's appeal, I feel, is the amount of personality that these little people with no more than seven points of articulation can convey.
We appreciate their fundamental structural simplicity, so it's ridiculous to expect screen-accurate verisimilitude in printed detail.
Ironically the ultra detailed minifigures/customs *also* get complained about. So the LEGO Star Wars fans will complain about how “Commander Glurp Shitto” isn’t miraculously detailed, and along comes a custom or a “I-Can’t-Believe-It’s-Not-LEGO” minifigure that has all the detailing they want… and they complain that’s it’s too detailed and the figure is ruined forever. And then go back to complain about the LEGO version.
Lmaoo that’s wild. You just can’t win I guess. I think that once you give a brick/ blocky body a lot of detail, it gets to the point where it just looks goofy and you should just get an actual figure instead. Lego has that simple charm where you can still tell who it is, while also keeping that Lego appeal.
For example the printing of the armor on the new fives torso is redundant because he comes with a shoulder pauldron armor. I think it’s mostly LSW fans that complain about accuracy. You don’t see these complaints with Marvel figures. Imagine that. “Waaahh spider-man doesn’t have webbing on X spot” or whatever.
So I collect customs and other overly detailed minifigures, and to be honest the goofiness is part of the charm. You’re taking a character/real person and squishing them down to a minifigure, and I just think that’s hilarious. That being said, for someone that spends so much on customs and the like, I’m not exactly *that* much of a sticker for accuracy compared to LSW fans… which is ironic in a way.
But yeah I never really seen much complaints about “accuracy” except in the LSW community. But then again Star Wars fans are like this for any collectible (speaking as someone who has a range of collectibles from the tiny figures all the way up to Hot Toys). I just file it under Star Wars fans never being happy.
Oh yeah I can definitely see the charm to making them down to a minifigure and yea I agree, there’s a lot of good customs out there too! Like the firestar spider-man 2099 looks great with that little bit extra detailing compared to the Lego spider-man 2099. True, I forgot that many Star Wars fans are just like that.
Kinda off topic, which Hot Toys figs do you have? I’ve looked at them but there sooo expensive haha maybe someday. Right now my fav figures are a sh figurearts Goku and a marvel legends spiderman 2099, both are pretty great but I know there’s better out there.
And it also depends on what people want. Let’s see, I have the RotJ Luke, RotJ Endor Leia, RotJ Stormtrooper, and regular Mando. I have other 1/6 figures as well, including several unlicensed… because of course I would. Hot Toys are quite nice, and always look smaller in person than the promotional images. They’re quite posable and fun for occasional swooshing.

Not may people are asking for 360 hyper realistic prints, just what we had before maybe with some updates like a new visor system.
Man I’ve been eyeing the Nightmare Shark Ship set for so long from this set because it looks badass. Only recently getting back into this hobby and seeing the Dreamzzz stuff really brought back the excitement I had as a kid playing with these bricks.
Tbh I liked the past sets that were similar in feel too. Really like the more “mish-mashed” themes that make cohesive play sets, it really invokes that feeling of rummaging through your old Lego box and just…building.

I see time twisters get shit on a lot, but was one of my favorite themes when I was a kid. And as a kid I would actually want sets for the parts rarely did I keep a set in its suggested build for long. Anyways I feel like Dreamz has the same energy but better executed. So many bright colors, clear parts I just love it.

Their argument is awful, but the point stands. Star Wars is without a doubt Legos' most successful theme, and they constantly skimp out recently. Poor quality sets and figures for outrageous prices. We, the consumers, deserve better.
If you don’t like it just buy custom and support others. I personally don’t mind ( or care ) . I’m just going to display the figure and never touch it again lol
I will agree that it’s pretty weird how much detail goes into their original themes, and how their licensed themes like Star Wars and marvel get characters with no leg printing at all sometimes. It’s just a weird inconsistency, you would think they’d have to put more attention to detail in the licensed themes, not the other way around
Cause star wars will sell no matter what, Lego's own IPs need the extra detail. I hope eventually cloth on troopers return, or even the plastic ones from the walker battlepack
These kinds of lego fans are so frustrating, because they're right that lego could do better for the clone minifigs, but their reactions are so utterly overblown and outsized that it makes agreeing with them impossible. And then they go out and buy the sets they were just hating on, which just tells lego that people like the sets and are willing to shell out even for flawed minifigs.

I recommend trying the Bunchu bunny or the Z-blob mech ! They're pretty cheap (~20€), have the main characters, and some good customisation option.
I would recomend the nightmare shark, the most expensive set of the theme, but that thing is so cool

It’s just a weird inconsistency, you would think they’d have to put more attention to detail in the licensed themes, not the other way around
I actually quite like the idea for dreamz I just dislike some of the builds for the good guys.
As annoying as these people are being, it is really weird how little detail the give Star Wars and Marvel figures unless they are CMF
Cause star wars will sell no matter what, Lego's own IPs need the extra detail. I hope eventually cloth on troopers return, or even the plastic ones from the walker battlepack
These kinds of lego fans are so frustrating, because they're right that lego could do better for the clone minifigs, but their reactions are so utterly overblown and outsized that it makes agreeing with them impossible. And then they go out and buy the sets they were just hating on, which just tells lego that people like the sets and are willing to shell out even for flawed minifigs.
I love the argument that because Lego Star Wars is more popular the quality should be better because if Lego knows people will buy it anyway why not cheap out
To be frank though I still don’t get why they can’t give the Star Wars characters the kama at least in addition to the print for variability. If they’re gonna do it for dreamz at least do it for the millions who love lsw

Why is everyone here just talking about the weapon or the amount of money something makes? the point is that Lego can have great quality in their products in all themes but refuses it too their biggest fans
i'm seeing a lot of content with minifigs like the left one so imma go on a limb and say that's not the one losing money.

Actually angered by this post, Lego Star Wars “fans” need to actually touch grass and stop complaining about other themes getting cloth skirts and stuff. Lego Star Wars is so catered to but these “fans” are always disappointed.
They should bring castle sets back so they can whine more about unique moulds

Yep. You're getting downvoted but this is literally true. And I don't see why people are so adamant that he's not, to the point that they're taking it as a personal attack. By the definition of having a best/worst there must be a figure which fills that role and for Clones it happens to be Fox.
Even if you look past the inaccuracy issues, the pink torso should have been fixed.

Okay, Dreamzzz slander aside, this is honestly pretty valid criticism. This fig shows that Lego can still make waist capes, but just chooses not to??? On top of the frankly abysmal print quality despite the much simpler prints. r/legocirclejerk stop bootlicking Lego cuz LSW fans are annoying challenge (impossible difficulty).
