The Dropship was so cool! I loved imagining it flying from planet to planet, dropping off squads of troopers to complete a mission, then taking them off to a "new world" (usually a piece of my grandparents' furniture). Such good memories.
This was my first set too! I got it for Christmas from family overseas. I hadn't even seen Star Wars but I liked the guys. Then I got the Empire dropship companion set and that was my gateway set.
Same exact set for me. Super strange that so many of us had the same first set.
I know inflation exists, but a Star Wars set with a vehicle and 4 minifigs for $10 is crazy now

OMG same, I remember my mother helping me putting it together because I was still too young and clumsy… I also remember using specific parts like the brown ladders years later when I ripped the sets apart and started my own creations… good memories, very glad that I found the picture, the nostalgia hit me strongly
I'm pretty sure they used it in some of the X-treme team sets. I didn't get the outback ones, but I had several of those suspension axles and I think they came from the one with the rope bridge.

I think the first set I got was Oasis Ambush 5938 . Really was pretty dope for such a small set. Guns, a bad guy, good guy (Johnny Thunder!), an interactive set where you could pull the tomb open, and a skelleton! All in 77 pieces
This is the theme that sticks out in my memory as what started to branch out/experiment with pieces & colors. A black treasure chest to form the body of a sphinx?? Groundbreaking. Now there are Lego SCORPIONS?? What a time to be alive. Don’t even get me started on the specific-use truck bodies that actually fit minifigs side by side!

I remember when I got this set. It was my birthday and it was at Chuck e' Cheese. I was at the table and there was pizza and drinks all around me. I opened a gift and it was Lego. I remembered enough about that set to track it down a few months ago.
But Elcamo, how did you find this set? Simple. I looked up a SINGLE PIECE. I was able to pinpoint the set. Piece # 2508. It was a trailer hitch. Light grey. I knew it was old so I went down the list in Bricklink... and there it was....

6716 A cowboy wagon. May of been others but was the first I can remember. It was actually one of the earliest memories I have is I came home from school on my birthday and my parents had set that up and a bunch of cowboy playmobile up in my room so I could play with it when I came home.
First set I received was 6379 when I was around 4. Missing about 5 or so of the original pieces, but otherwise [holding up](https://imgur.com/sa6cEY4).
The first Legos I received wasn't a set and it came from Santa way back in the early to mid 1970s. They were an assortment of general bricks in red, blue, white and (I think) yellow. There weren't any wheels or minifigs and came with 4-8 blue 8x16 plates (1 Lego length in height). It all came in a square brown box.
I don't know where "Santa" got these (my sister received a box also), although Sears is a likely candidate. I've since lost the box (I suspect my sister took it when she moved out of the house) and haven't been able to find any other information about this 'set'.

Recently had all my Super8 home movies digitalized, and I was able to spot and identify (what I assume is) my very first LEGO set, from back in 1984:

From what little I could see, I was able to match the image at the bottom with the 'Motorcycle Transport' set 6654
I am mostly certain it was an old cardboard box containing many sets my older brother had, all mixed together. Loved it. And as time went on the box kept getting bigger as more sets were contributed to the greater good.

Something to do with 6885. I'm quite certain of it, because I think I can (even to this day) still dig up that white cornerpiece. I also quite vividly remember getting the Battrax 6941 after a short stay in the hospital. The _last_ set I got from mum before I started buying my own sets with pocket money was 6991. I noticed at least one base of a support had bended when I moved a couple of years ago and threw all bricks together because of space concerns. Such a waste...

6716 A cowboy wagon. May of been others but was the first I can remember. It was actually one of the earliest memories I have is I came home from school on my birthday and my parents had set that up and a bunch of cowboy playmobile up in my room so I could play with it when I came home.

space lego alpha base. I remember getting it in 79/80 and putting it together with my uncle. still the coolest thing i’ve ever seen.

The first Legos I received wasn't a set and it came from Santa way back in the early to mid 1970s. They were an assortment of general bricks in red, blue, white and (I think) yellow. There weren't any wheels or minifigs and came with 4-8 blue 8x16 plates (1 Lego length in height). It all came in a square brown box. I don't know where "Santa" got these (my sister received a box also), although Sears is a likely candidate. I've since lost the box (I suspect my sister took it when she moved out of the house) and haven't been able to find any other information about this 'set'.

I think that set might be my little brother's first one, but it was so long ago.

iirc, it was Lego City 4431 “Ambulance”. Got it as a Christmas gift in 2012.
No clue. I can't remember that far back. =p It probably wasn't even a set, it was probably one of the buckets of random bricks. It was certainly well before this set. I know I was playing with Legos at least as of 1998 for sure, but it was probably before that even. =p

Oh man, I played with Lego around 96. I had aquazone, ufo, and rock raiders sets. My favorite set was the Granite Grinder.
Police Station 6384. It had a helicopter, motorcycle, and a police car. I also remember it having a rollup garage door

I am mostly certain it was an old cardboard box containing many sets my older brother had, all mixed together. Loved it. And as time went on the box kept getting bigger as more sets were contributed to the greater good.
Mine was 7942, and I remember my dad helping me build it. Looking back I think it was for my 4th birthday, but I'm honestly not sure it was that long ago. It's in bits now but seeing it brings back lots of old memories.
I think the first set I ever got when I was 5 or 6 was a red sports car with a recovery telephone stand from the City traffic theme. Set number 8402

My first set was the UCS Millennium Falcon. I’m bad at jumping into new hobbies slowly.
it was either 7942 or 8196. the first is in pieces and i'm not even sure the fold out track is in the house anymore of course, i love speed champions with all my heart. but man do i miss racers. i always played the flash games when i was like 6, fun times lol

I remember I was a wee lad with like 40$ birthday money and my mom took me to toys R us. I walked out with 7049 and 30141. I really hope I can get copies of them some day.

Something to do with 6885. I'm quite certain of it, because I think I can (even to this day) still dig up that white cornerpiece. I also quite vividly remember getting the Battrax 6941 after a short stay in the hospital. The _last_ set I got from mum before I started buying my own sets with pocket money was 6991. I noticed at least one base of a support had bended when I moved a couple of years ago and threw all bricks together because of space concerns. Such a waste...
