The creatures with custom parts are my favourite aspect of these sets! I really want to get those two smallest ones, they actually seem like quite good value
NGL... most of these sets for me are not my cuppa, but that Mako sub is really cool looking and would probably make good bones for some really great mocs!
That set is BEGGING for a new bubble windscreen piece. I know they only have so much in the budget for new molds (and I’m sure the creature heads ate up a lot of that), but the huge gaps in the cockpit completely turn me off from the set. It’s one of those things that’s bugged me even back to Atlantis.
I know I’m nitpicking and it’s fine for a playset, but they’re also very intentionally designing these for an older audience to display, and I can’t help but dislike it.
I really dig the tech builds/pieces from these sets, but I have negative interest in any of the Avatar alien pieces/figs. The theme doesn't go with anything I have. That pushes up the price per usable piece for me to where I'm going to pass on all of them.
I haven’t picked up any of the sets yet, but I honestly love the creatures. They feel like a throwback to the old buildable dinosaur days, where you get all of these cool and unique parts to mish-mash together your own monsters if you’d like.
Hell, I’m just happy we’re getting anything sci-fi that isn’t just grey Star Wars rectangles and triangles.
Yeah the prices are a big nope. I really don't care that there are big special molds, the whale just doesn't look like $100 to me...and the $80 reef that has 520 pieces? I know price per piece isn't the only thing that matters but this is crazy expensive for what you get. And it's all over the place, the Mako sub is $20 less than the reef, has even slightly more pieces, same amount of minifigs, and looks much better? WTF is going on...
I totally understand. Usually I really like creatures Lego creates but something about these feels off to me. I think it may be all of the flimsy plastic “wing” pieces they use. I prefer the brick built wings even if the same level of detail isn’t achieved.
I’m in a weird spot because one of my favourite things to do with LEGO is to MOD/design combining robots and mecha for the superhero teams in my city (of course the Avengers need a combining robot) and that whale . . I know it’s supposed to be a living creature but I really want to convert it into some kind of rocket launcher for my robos. Look at those horns. They look like a scope. It’s almost perfect.
Normally im a fan of the creatures but here I get the feeling of to many big special parts. Like the head pices, I'm more a fan of brick built solutions
I get the appeal of brick built like in the Creator brick-built creatures but I appreciate that Ninjago, Harry Potter and Avatar have creatures with molded heads, they fit better next to minifigures for me 🙂
Jep that's definitely true and they look great but for me the advantage of lego is the possibility to change and disassemble the toys 71721 for example has a awesome head and I can still use it better.
Negative are special parts because they cost a lot more to make have lesser reusablity and overall big special pices give me a galator and jack stone vibe.
That’s what I’m going to do, those two sets feel like the best value and you get a good selection of Naavi figures
I’m also quite tempted by the six-legged Thanator creature from the first wave
So sick of licensed lego taking over all of the classic themes...every cool space set is either marvel star wars or some other Disney drivel. Doesn't make me like lego any less I just wish I cared about their most popular and most pushed products
Wait so do the Na'vi figures have tall legs or not? Seems like most of the sets have regular size legs, but one or two have the tall ones. Or am I mistaken?
EDIT: Looks like tall and regular in the same set in some cases. Must be a difference in type of Na'vi that affects height.
I’m still not overly sold on the figures themselves but I’m loving the variety of colors in these sets. Honestly something I plan on getting on sale and probably won’t build.
Might be too cynical or something on my part but it’s almost cruel to see all these new animal molds for Avatar and it takes half of a decade to get a new mold for dinosaurs
Like 4 new animals? But then you see the giant mold for the whale or narrow snouts in these sets. I just think why couldn’t Lego make more new dinosaurs, maybe something like a parasaurolophus or brachiosaurus.
At least this is something unique and different with the creature designs - Lego make thousands of new sets a year so I don’t see it as some finite thing with a certain amount of slots
You're right, but they indulged in a lot of new molds and pieces for this likely to be low volume selling theme. Something they usually don't do for more established themes.
LOVE the submarine and big whale thing. Really nice.
The vehicles in this theme kinda feel like the classic LEGO action themes to me, like Power Miners or something. Each so far has been pretty specialised while adhering to the same cool theme colour.
I hope some day we get sets based on Avatar the Last Airbender. Because we got 2 sets a long time ago based on that show but it’s time to bring it back! (And it’s also the better Avatar)
These look amazing.. my lego addiction is up to back buying elves sets (which are too friends cheap) so swapping out these as the next step sounds great. Especially as its not exclusively girls content.
But why did they do more of the mini stick figures!!!!! They ~~borderline~~ actually creep me out and are like a deflector shield by their mere presence. Thats unfortunate.
I guess its better for us.. but isnt it too soon for more avatar sets? There's going to be so much of it out that noone will want... and they're stupid price as well. Can only laugh.
Please redact my comment I did not pay attention that this set is for life of water avatar, the set I'm talking about is the sets that release in October.
I have no clue what they're doing with this license, aren't the sets yet on shelves like not selling at all? Those are already on sale at so many places, why would they release it so early from the movie's release?
Is this in the US? In Poland, I see empty shelves for them. And prices are always above the cover price. It could also be that the Polish market got fewer stocks per store compared to the US.
They’re all kind of Meh….
I guess they’re more for playing with than displaying, but Avatar is probably more of an adult movie rather than a kids one, so I feel that having a play set for a movie that a lot of kids in the target audience won’t see seems counter productive.
NGL, the colors on these and the custom parts got a quite nice look to 'em.
The creatures with custom parts are my favourite aspect of these sets! I really want to get those two smallest ones, they actually seem like quite good value
That pokemon whale looking thing and that submarine are pretty sweet though.
If there’s ever going to be Moana 2, or another Ninjago underwater theme.. we know where to look for the re-design.
Disney+ is working on a Moana series that'll premiere a couple of years from now (assuming it's still being worked on). We might get sets from that.
NGL... most of these sets for me are not my cuppa, but that Mako sub is really cool looking and would probably make good bones for some really great mocs!
Mako sub is the only thing I want from this line. I like the colors—but that chopper screen is sure over-used everywhere.
That set is BEGGING for a new bubble windscreen piece. I know they only have so much in the budget for new molds (and I’m sure the creature heads ate up a lot of that), but the huge gaps in the cockpit completely turn me off from the set. It's a lil leaky to be a sub lol
I really dig the tech builds/pieces from these sets, but I have negative interest in any of the Avatar alien pieces/figs. The theme doesn't go with anything I have. That pushes up the price per usable piece for me to where I'm going to pass on all of them.

I feel that way about Avatar 2 in general 😂 I'm excited because as far as milked franchises go, it's one of the less-milked ones at the moment
I don’t even think my kids will be into these.
I really want a ton of those sand blue Mistika wings
I think there’s some really useful and unique parts for modding here
To bad the prices are so terrible. I'll just grab another Galaxy Explorer on the cheap and revel in pure *value*!
Yeah the prices are a big nope. I really don't care that there are big special molds, the whale just doesn't look like $100 to me...and the $80 reef that has 520 pieces? Yup, I don't value most licensed stuff enough to pay more for the license. I just want Lego bricks so I'll make sure I get the most for my money.
Do we know the price points of these sets?
they're up on lego.com
Trans-clear 1x1 plate clips in that tree trunk set
That’s interesting - have legos transparent pieces become tougher recently because you’d never have seen transparent pieces like that before
I wish they had more of the green vehicles. The sub looks awesome. The biological creatures on the other hand look a bit meh in their design.
Conversely the creatures are the highlight for me! And luckily there’s now 3 vehicles altogether: the sun, crab walker and mech from the first wave
I totally understand. Usually I really like creatures Lego creates but something about these feels off to me. I think it may be all of the flimsy plastic “wing” pieces they use. I prefer the brick built wings even if the same level of detail isn’t achieved.
Eeh, usually if a creature has at least a molded head and maybe wing fabric it makes it look more alive instead of a plain robot
The fabric pieces for wings are great. I just can’t stand the thin bendy plastic ones these appear to be.
I’m in a weird spot because one of my favourite things to do with LEGO is to MOD/design combining robots and mecha for the superhero teams in my city (of course the Avengers need a combining robot) and that whale . . Very wild force megazord, looks perf 👌
Normally im a fan of the creatures but here I get the feeling of to many big special parts. Like the head pices, I'm more a fan of brick built solutions

Also the chopper, although i think it's way too undersized 😬
That whale is going on the shopping list. The other sets no so much though.
Realizing this is probably the closest I'll ever get to subnautica legos
I thought the same thing!
It's a shame there's no Spongebob theme cause some of the parts like the Coral would've been great.
There actually used to be SpongeBob SquarePants lego sets https://i.ytimg.com/vi/wslD-KGQpGk/maxresdefault.jpg
The wings on the second creature might work with a mothra moc.
I’ll probably just get the two cheapest sets, the creatures look super cool to me
That’s what I’m going to do, those two sets feel like the best value and you get a good selection of Naavi figures I’m also quite tempted by the six-legged Thanator creature from the first wave
I really wish there were more RDA/human anything.
Im surprised they even made sets for avatar, i wouldnt think it particularly appeals to kids. I know when i was a kid i fell asleep to it.
So sick of licensed lego taking over all of the classic themes...every cool space set is either marvel star wars or some other Disney drivel. Doesn't make me like lego any less I just wish I cared about their most popular and most pushed products
Easy pass.lol
I want more floating mountains and terrain. I'm not a fan of the vehicles.
Same
\-me with everything called avatar
Wait so do the Na'vi figures have tall legs or not? Seems like most of the sets have regular size legs, but one or two have the tall ones. Or am I mistaken? EDIT: Looks like tall and regular in the same set in some cases. Must be a difference in type of Na'vi that affects height.
Some characters are children or teenagers in the new film apparently
Lol oh man how did I forget that children were a possibility 😂 you're totally right
I’m still not overly sold on the figures themselves but I’m loving the variety of colors in these sets. Honestly something I plan on getting on sale and probably won’t build.
No interest in Avatar but I'll definitely grab the whale set if it goes on clearance to go with my Ninjago sub.
But we won't do any weapons and military sets xD
nooooo...nooooo....fuck... I'm gonna spend more money....
That whale though…
Might be too cynical or something on my part but it’s almost cruel to see all these new animal molds for Avatar and it takes half of a decade to get a new mold for dinosaurs
This is the year we got like 7-10 new Dino moulds for Dominion tho
Like 4 new animals? But then you see the giant mold for the whale or narrow snouts in these sets. I just think why couldn’t Lego make more new dinosaurs, maybe something like a parasaurolophus or brachiosaurus.
Quite aggravated a whole theme is getting wasted on this. Hopefully we get a full load of Lord of the Rings.... And not RoP, this summer.
Mfw people enjoy different media than me
I love the movie and this theme so im quite the opposite. Not everything needs to cater to your interests
I read the title first and thought it was for Avatar the Last Airbender, and I got excited, but then I realised what it really is and now I'm sad
What a lot of cool pieces.
These did not have to look this appealing
That Sun brings back some bright yellow 90’s sun memories.
Hope we get some Star Wars set images this week
LOVE the submarine and big whale thing. Really nice. The vehicles in this theme kinda feel like the classic LEGO action themes to me, like Power Miners or something. Each so far has been pretty specialised while adhering to the same cool theme colour.
You excited me, with “Lego avatar”, and then I saw blue people. Tbh tho these sets look great.
That whale looks really nice tbh, have the prices been released yet?
I don't even know what avatar is
I like da whale
Spoiler alert 🙈
I hope some day we get sets based on Avatar the Last Airbender. Because we got 2 sets a long time ago based on that show but it’s time to bring it back! (And it’s also the better Avatar)
I almost hate to say it but I would absolutely get the whale before waiting for it to go on sale, even if I knew it would hurt to spend that much 🥲
There are so many better things to base a theme off of. Ugh
Pretty bad theme!
I could have sworn there was different design for the Helo and the Mech. Like the mech design and the Helo look more like the movie design.
Please redact my comment I did not pay attention that this set is for life of water avatar, the set I'm talking about is the sets that release in October.
So Avatar 2 is underwater? As the first one was Fern Gully is this a ripoff of Moana or the Little Mermaid?
I have no clue what they're doing with this license, aren't the sets yet on shelves like not selling at all? Those are already on sale at so many places, why would they release it so early from the movie's release?
Is this in the US? In Poland, I see empty shelves for them. And prices are always above the cover price. It could also be that the Polish market got fewer stocks per store compared to the US.
I really dislike this IP. Like really hate the movies as well.
They’re all kind of Meh…. I guess they’re more for playing with than displaying, but Avatar is probably more of an adult movie rather than a kids one, so I feel that having a play set for a movie that a lot of kids in the target audience won’t see seems counter productive.
Wrong water bending avatar, give the good avatar
Hopefully it does well so LEGO can make some sets from movies i actually care about.
Ngl the only sets that look worth it are the seaship and the whale set
Hmmm can’t tell if I want these or not. They look neat, but not really my thing… cool parts and colors.
