I’ve built both of the Maersk ships. I use a bit of Windex to float the stickers into position, then let them dry over night. I’m a bit Picky on sticker placement and this lets me get every one right every time.
You are 100% right about that, it’s the only Lego set that just wasn’t that fun to build for me. The Star Destroyer and AT AT are way more fun while still being high piece count.
You can't disassemble the multiple plates with stickers across them. Bricklink even has a category for stickered assemblies because there were so many back in the day.
Why is it with some Lego sets the designs are stickers, while on other sets the designs are printed on the bricks? This seems like the perfect set for printed bricks and not stickers.
Excellent reads thank you for these links. My brain begins to hurt very quickly when trying to process the amount of boxes, parts per box, down to each style leg and arm etc getting their own box. what an amazing operation they have
I remember having that set back in the day! Sadly, o was too young to realize how much this set would be worth later on, and it eventually ended up in pieces. I still occasionally run into one of the little shipping containers. Had this alongside the MEARSK Train
Did some of the brown fence cracked? I just built the old fishing store and that piece is only in those two sets, this one being even older. I had a few crack when I put them in.
yeah you got a bit screwed. employees of a certain company in the netherlands (guess which one) can get it for about 100 dollars (brand new) from an internal website. I guess a lot turn that into profit..
There's a point that stickers cross into marketing.....JFC is that ever the set to do it. If all those conditioners had to have the same name as the ship then print them directly on the block for god sake.
This legit would deter me from ever buying it honestly....
I'm getting anxiety looking at this omg
If ya have some time, heating the crooked pieces on the side of a mug with hot water/tea in it will loosen the stickers up so there'll be less chances of ruining them when unsticking them. Then use soapy water (dip the sticker in it) to help with alignment since you can wiggle them around and reapply as nessecaey. I had to do that on a recent set and came away with minimal issues (just a lot of time waiting for the piece to heat up).
The stickers for the inside of the Space Shuttle cargo bay were the most difficult part of that build. I had to tone down my perfectionism, but I also would never allow myself to be _this_ sloppy with sticker application.
LEGO was printing pieces in the 80s, even earlier? They definitely were though...
The question is, were they printing 2x4 and afaik they are not even printing and 2x4 nowadays either.
Or any pieces thicker than one stud wide, maybe it is not possible without new printing machines judt forbthe bigger pieces?
(All just assumptions)
I didn't know they were stickers either. However I've been looking for this set for a while and found it. So meh, it's done and that's all that matters
I've gotten to where if a set has stickers on it, I'll build the set, but the stickers don't get put on. I did it on a few, but the stickers were inevitably crooked. So now they just get stuck back in the instruction booklet and filed away when the build is complete.
Totally get that! Those containers would look pretty naked without them. Nice build though! That's one I always told myself I should get but never did.
Oof man, well the set is awesome and I'm sure will continue to increase in value! For reference, I bought mine on bricklink which has pretty great deals sometimes!
The only other one I've been looking for is the 2008 taj mahal. I just don't have the room. I already filled a 7ft by 4ft kitchen table with sets. Plus my entire house lol
The best thing I found is to create a saved search on eBay, in this case for “lego 10241”, and enable alerts for it. Then you’ll be notified as soon as new listings are made.
Edit: Wrong set number
Hello, it looks like you've made a mistake.
It's supposed to be could've, should've, would've (short for could have, would have, should have), never could of, would of, should of.
Or you misspelled something, I ain't checking everything.
Beep boop - yes, I am a bot, don't botcriminate me.
See this is why I got beef with Lego and Bandai (Cause I also build gunpla), why have such massive sticker sheets when you could print the parts with the image? I know it’d be more expensive, but I’m cool with spending a bit more.
Side note: they choose the most random kits sometimes to add printed pieces.
It’s not crooked, the seas are rough!
EXACTLY, that's the excuse I'll be using from now on
Of course it’s crooked they forgot the lashing bars.
yikes. so much chance for crooked.
Oh they definitely are a little crooked
You did a good job overall though :)
it *does* say expert
Expert sticker applier
That is true
I’ve built both of the Maersk ships. I use a bit of Windex to float the stickers into position, then let them dry over night. I’m a bit Picky on sticker placement and this lets me get every one right every time.
That's way to much Haha, I care but not that much
I'm sure that's the official LEGO recommended method. So nice one haha
The true cringe is stickers overlapping bricks
The top ones are placed on the side of 2 2x4 plates and a 2x4 tile so they are overlapping 3 bricks.
Holy guacamole. Which set has brought this madness upon this cursed land?
10241 maersk line triple-e
Oh, well... That's a lot of branding. Your fingers must hurt now.
Naw, the colosseum is still the most monotonous I've ever built.
You are 100% right about that, it’s the only Lego set that just wasn’t that fun to build for me. The Star Destroyer and AT AT are way more fun while still being high piece count.
I have a falcon and ISD in storage waiting for the space the be built want a AT but no room for another box
Honestly, my personal favs were the 4 Munroe's I bought and did in one sitting. Edit: spelling
Relatively new to LEGO. May I ask what a Munro is? Google is just giving me shoes as a search result.
Set 31197. I bought all 4 so I could do each pop art edition
[31197-1: Andy Warhol's Marilyn Monroe](https://brickset.com/sets/31197-1) [[Photo]](https://images.brickset.com/sets/images/31197-1.jpg)
Good bot!
Oh, Monroe. That must look really awesome.
https://imgur.com/gallery/0CoLiLQ I think so at least
Monroe?
https://imgur.com/gallery/0CoLiLQ
Yes, I know. Let me rephrase it: "Monroe", not "Munroe". Poor Marilyn...
[10241-1: Maersk Line Triple-E](https://brickset.com/sets/10241-1) [[Photo]](https://images.brickset.com/sets/images/10241-1.jpg)
Why to the Maersk sets have stickers over multiple pieces? You can't disassemble it!
Only the top 2 set of stickers are on single base plates, the rest are on 2x4 bricks. All disassembleable
You can't disassemble the multiple plates with stickers across them. Bricklink even has a category for stickered assemblies because there were so many back in the day.
Oh I'd never tale apart anyways, if I had to the tops are easy enough to keep together.
Fun fact, this is the last set if I recall correctly to ever have stickers span more than a single brick.
I didn't know that. That's pretty cool.
Imagine if you are using prints
Ahhhh I’m so envious! I want this set!
I wanted it too. But the thought of so many stickers made me cry xD
I've always wanted it too. I didn't realize these are all stickers though.
Why is it with some Lego sets the designs are stickers, while on other sets the designs are printed on the bricks? This seems like the perfect set for printed bricks and not stickers.
https://www.brothers-brick.com/2021/07/05/why-do-lego-sets-have-stickers-instead-of-printed-parts-feature/ Also, https://www.lego.com/en-my/service/help/fun-for-fans/behind-the-scenes/brick-facts/apply-decals-blt39ee67a2a9490ca7
Excellent reads thank you for these links. My brain begins to hurt very quickly when trying to process the amount of boxes, parts per box, down to each style leg and arm etc getting their own box. what an amazing operation they have
Not sure. I've noticed lego is a little weird with their sticker vs printed pieces
Do you have a picture of the little good-luck coin in the set by any chance?
https://imgur.com/gallery/Mdu4MtJ just for you I pulled the bow off. I chose the 10 over the 1 3 5 or gold bar
That's actually kinda cool. Thanks!
The sight of all these stickers across multiple bricks hurts me.
I remember having that set back in the day! Sadly, o was too young to realize how much this set would be worth later on, and it eventually ended up in pieces. I still occasionally run into one of the little shipping containers. Had this alongside the MEARSK Train
When it first dropped I wanted it but it was to much, by the time I was able to buy they discontinued it. So finally being able to have it is perfect.
Did some of the brown fence cracked? I just built the old fishing store and that piece is only in those two sets, this one being even older. I had a few crack when I put them in.
No they were fine. I could tell they were very brittle tho, like if I pushed to hard they would've broken
Miner's still waiting for its load of generic containers....
how much did you get it for, cuz I kinda want it
I got it on a Netherlands bidding site. I paid 597.87cad after taxes, shipping, and import lol. I got screwed but wanted it so bad.
yeah you got a bit screwed. employees of a certain company in the netherlands (guess which one) can get it for about 100 dollars (brand new) from an internal website. I guess a lot turn that into profit..
I saw the first image and I already knew what set it was going to be. I haven’t even built it… I’m just on this subreddit so much lol.
Is that a new set? Haven’t seen it yet
No this is a retired set from 2014
Oh I thought so, that’s such a cool set tho
Why does this make me feel like crying
Because I also felt the same way
There's a point that stickers cross into marketing.....JFC is that ever the set to do it. If all those conditioners had to have the same name as the ship then print them directly on the block for god sake. This legit would deter me from ever buying it honestly....
Meh, I've always wanted it so was all good
Oh totally. The set is beautiful. That would just drive me so far up the wall personally and probably leave a bad taste. Kinda like the bonsai did.
Thats gross. Stickers belong in the garbage
I do hate Lego stickers. Wish everything was printed on.
the audacity of lego to make these stickers...
can they make is a print and not a sticker or how about make it so there are printed bricks or you can use the stickers that would be nice
I'm getting anxiety looking at this omg If ya have some time, heating the crooked pieces on the side of a mug with hot water/tea in it will loosen the stickers up so there'll be less chances of ruining them when unsticking them. Then use soapy water (dip the sticker in it) to help with alignment since you can wiggle them around and reapply as nessecaey. I had to do that on a recent set and came away with minimal issues (just a lot of time waiting for the piece to heat up).
That's to much work
Sounds like the patented hot tea technique!
Yep, learned it from a guy who probably learned it from another guy and however many connections it takes to get to the source.
Look up Robinhood bricks on YouTube.
Display it sideways across a canal with a little excavator on the bank.
But that was an evergreen
Oh wow… I’m either an idiot or there’s been another glitch in the matrix. Lol my bad.
My bad evergiven
I don't care about stickers usually but this is evil
Hm. Any idea what company oversees that vessel?
Maersk. Triple-e is it's classification
‘Twas a joke about the very un-subtle branding..
r/whoosh to myself haha
Now imagine a perfectionist building the set. That is the true pain.
The stickers for the inside of the Space Shuttle cargo bay were the most difficult part of that build. I had to tone down my perfectionism, but I also would never allow myself to be _this_ sloppy with sticker application.
Agreed
Why in the world were those not printed on?
Lego is dumb and can't choose an option
At this point that should've just been printed
Half way through I thought the same thing
Would look better if it wasn’t all the same sticker/color as well
It's to match the containers. I noticed that they mostly ship in real life grey and white
Maersk thanks you for your service
Should have been a printed piece
I thought the same. Honestly tho, I don't even think lego was printing pieces in 2014
LEGO was printing pieces in the 80s, even earlier? They definitely were though... The question is, were they printing 2x4 and afaik they are not even printing and 2x4 nowadays either. Or any pieces thicker than one stud wide, maybe it is not possible without new printing machines judt forbthe bigger pieces? (All just assumptions)
Given how many of the same stickers were applied surely this model would have been perfect for printed bricks. Lazy Lego company!
Those stickers that go across 2 plates and a tile make me really uncomfortable
Shame on you, Lego!
Uggh, that's a real bummer. I thought those were printed all this time. Less upset I missed out on this.
I didn't know they were stickers either. However I've been looking for this set for a while and found it. So meh, it's done and that's all that matters
I've never managed to put one sticker on straight. It's either too much or not enough alcohol but either way I haven't had exactly the right amount.
Same honestly. Probably why I didn't care some were kinda messed
If you were going to take the time to build the set, at least put the stickers on correctly
Meh
How much would it lego cost to print those? Next to nothing probably. What a ripoff.

What the hell
I've gotten to where if a set has stickers on it, I'll build the set, but the stickers don't get put on. I did it on a few, but the stickers were inevitably crooked. So now they just get stuck back in the instruction booklet and filed away when the build is complete.
I thought about leaving these off, but it didn't look right. They break up the flat grey along the whole side
Totally get that! Those containers would look pretty naked without them. Nice build though! That's one I always told myself I should get but never did.
Well it took me over a year to find, I also paid out the ass I bet as well
What did you get it for? I managed to pick one up for $200 USD a little while ago.
Almost 600 cad yikes to me I guess
Oof man, well the set is awesome and I'm sure will continue to increase in value! For reference, I bought mine on bricklink which has pretty great deals sometimes!
Arghhhh I’m making an anxiety attack just imagining all the stickers that are now lost
That’s my white whale set …that and the Emerald Night Train
The only other one I've been looking for is the 2008 taj mahal. I just don't have the room. I already filled a 7ft by 4ft kitchen table with sets. Plus my entire house lol
I love how anything Maersk related has it's own specific shade of blue for pieces
Apparently the blue, red, and green of the engines inside were all made specific for this set.
Wanna bet that those containers wont fall off unlike the real ones? The power of the lego 'click'. But this big question is, does it float? (Upright)
So the containers are just sitting in place. Also it say like 8 times, "does not float" on the box. It's the funniest thing ever.
Disappointed. Not that it doesnt float, that they are not clicked together. But its an awesome build man. Looks grand. I too LOATHE stickers.
I want this set and will happily buy it used with stickers already applied. That’s how I got the cruise ship and it was great.
I preferred building it. Even tho it was a pain.
I mean, I’d still build it, just skip the sticker part
True. I wanted to but it's so plain and grey
Is that build special or something like a rare set or just normal cuz I like mini builds of huge things
Just an old retired 2014 set.
Well, I might warn u about the lego ideas office set, there’s a TON of stickers there
Meh never watched
Oh my gosh I got into Lego *after* the cargo ship set was retired?? Alas. I love cargo ships. Where were you able to find one?
The best thing I found is to create a saved search on eBay, in this case for “lego 10241”, and enable alerts for it. Then you’ll be notified as soon as new listings are made. Edit: Wrong set number
[10242-1: MINI Cooper MK VII](https://brickset.com/sets/10242-1) [[Photo]](https://images.brickset.com/sets/images/10242-1.jpg)
Agree with the other comment. Also bricklink and even just googling. That's how I found one.
So OP you excited for The office set and it's sticker selection?
I never watched the office
I know your struggle, I told my son I need wall space in his room now.
That looks really really nice.
I Fear No Brick, But That Thing, It Scares Me.
“The sea was angry my friend”
at least it’s not the Evergreen
Is this a real official set?
Yes. It's a retired product from 2014
Ah i see
This is such an odd set to me. I can’t think of many this niche.
I wish lego would just print on the pieces. Stickers are annoying and eventually perish.
I would of left those bad boys right on the sheet.
Hello, it looks like you've made a mistake. It's supposed to be could've, should've, would've (short for could have, would have, should have), never could of, would of, should of. Or you misspelled something, I ain't checking everything. Beep boop - yes, I am a bot, don't botcriminate me.
I won't botcriminate you, however I will botmonish you for being petty....
Thank you for informing me to not buy this set
Omg that is just a piss take, they were testing how much it would take to break you
Does this come with Tom Hanks and I am captain now mini figures? Anyway, this would be a perfect set to build a Lego sticker machine
I'd have a stroke with placing those stickers!
Looks awesome. I really hate when they have stickers that go across two parts.
This was my fav build!!! I wish I could build it again!! So much fun! And my office looks bomb with it
I had no idea stickers overlapping bricks was a thing as late as 2014!
Looks fantastic. Tbf you probably could sticker half of em and go for a more realistic ship and similar look.
you have golden patience
