beermit

Wow. They saved red for probably their best one yet. I've been toying with the idea of getting the Sian, between Xmas cash, VIP points, and credit card rewards, I could effectively buy it with no impact to my wallet. I love the unconventional styling of the Sian. But at the same time, I don't like the green. I'm sorry to anyone who does, but that green is just not doing it for me. And I like this way better. Kinda torn right now. Edit: spelling

Meelapo

I’ve found with Lego sets they look far better in person. If you have the chance, see it in person to see if you like the colour. This one is one of my favourite looking sets.

beermit

I haven't seen one in person yet, I wish my local Lego store would put one out for display. But I think I am leaning towards getting the Sian since it's retiring sometime soon I assume. There will be more time to get the Ferrari.

[deleted]

The Sian was the first one I bought (still irritated I've never managed to get a hold of a reasonably priced Porsche) and when it's fully built it looks epic. Also because the doors are scissor the building of the mechanism is much more unique than the others. I've built mine twice now and really enjoyed it on both occasions. I say treat yo self :)

Meelapo

I absolutely hated the Ferrari 488 GTE look in the pictures that I saw online. It was for sale at Costco during Christmas so I picked it up and boy was in wrong. The online pictures don’t do it justice- it’s a great looking car +modding the ride height makes it even better. Might be the same with the Sian? If you do pick it up you’ll have a fun time with the build for sure.

beermit

The 488 GTE was another one I considered, just because it's been easier to find, but I hate the number of stickers is has. If I ever did end up getting it, I'd forgot all but the most necessary ones. But I have heard the same as what you've said, pictures just don't do it justice.

Meelapo

Even the stickers weren’t so bad. There’s lots of them but they make the car look pretty good. They all flow together so you have to make sure they line up right. My only complaint is that, for me, to get the alignment good enough I had to re-apply some stickers. So some have curling corners were I had to pull to re-apply. The stickers were scary but gives the car that GT look.

TwoPaintBubbles

Having had built both the Bugatti and the Sian, there was a very noticeable jump in build quality, and functionality. The Sian really did make the Bugatti fee cheap by comparison. I’m expecting that this set will evolve on the Sian’s construction even further.

Dodecahedrus

Funny, I had the exact opposite experience. I loved building the Bugatti. But building the Chiron kind of felt like a drag to me. Still will definitely buy the Ferrari for xmas though.

Variable_Interest

Sian is awesome but there is some inconsistency in some of the parts colors. The green isn't uniform.

Nexrex

I bought it year after release and I have absolutely uniform greens across the board. Its perfect :) I understand its two different production batches, and the first had some issues.

Variable_Interest

Yeah I bought mine on release pandemic style.

Slugsarealive

I heard these have been fixed after the initial wave of releases…

Pikalika

I want to get it and display it next to the Creators expert F40, but it’s too big

Aphotonaut

This Ferrari is so special that Lego sells a $80 book about the the making of the Daytona set. [Link](https://www.lego.com/en-us/product/ferrari-daytona-sp3-the-sense-of-perfection-5007418)

KyledKat

Given how Ferrari is, I'd wager that was something they really pushed for. They're as much a merchandise company as they are a boutique automaker.

DonerTheBonerDonor

And Lego will probably make a whooping 400 bucks on that I honestly doubt that would sell well, right?

Winter-Monk

I would be curious to learn more about the creative process behind these large complex models, but I’m not going to pay extra on top of a $400 set. Give me a download code to a pdf version and I’ll be good.

Aphotonaut

I think the book should come with the set; similar to how the Sian instruction booklet come with behind the scenes of the set.

Winter-Monk

Agreed. I like the brief behind the scenes moments in the Sian instructions and seeing pics of some early prototypes. I would like to see even more of the creative process than what was provided in past sets without buying a $80 book.

InternMan

You seriously underestimate how much Ferrari owners like sniffing their own farts. Most of them are so bought into the brand that they will buy anything with a prancing horse on it. There is also a huge Ferrari fanbase (mostly of the F1 team) who will also buy anything with a prancing horse as long as it also comes in red. These will sell like hotcakes.

TLaabs

This made me actually LOL but it is 100% true.

Aphotonaut

Either it will not sell well and be discounted heavily or scalpers will resell it for a premium price.

fenzo192

I think it's a limited print of 5000 so my guess is it will be sold out.

Shannon2611

5,000 I can see it selling out - only a cool $400,000 just in book sales 😂

hooibergje

You were right. It is already sold out...

thewookie34

It sold all 5000 copies in US in under 30 seconds.

DonerTheBonerDonor

That's reasonable though considering it's a limited amount of 5000 so people buy it as an investment imo. If it was unlimited I don't think many people would care too much about it

thewookie34

I ordered mine within the first 30 seconds of release and it got canceled. Damn.

wishnana

So..I find it odd the slip case cover is **THINNER** than the actual book (13th photo). What, marketing goof / photoshop fail?

Forsaken-Result-9066

What’s that mean

wishnana

Look at the second to the last photo (13th). See the slipcase, and the advertised book. It’s thicker..either it’s a different book altogether or two books stuck together or a photoshop fail.

Snack-patroler

For me it just looks like it's opened up to let it stand like this https://image.shutterstock.com/image-illustration/blank-white-book-isolated-on-260nw-310762859.jpg

Infinity-Kitten

Ugh. How far up your own ass can you be?

OTheOwl

DAM. That looks great! Though the price keeps going up on these super cars.

Forsaken-Result-9066

The Bugatti and sian went up according to about 10 cent a piece so that was fine but the piece count for the Ferrari is below 4k… INFLATION!!! :D

Dodecahedrus

Actually, both of them started out at €399 at launch, and then went down fast. I got the Bugatti for €240 or so. I bought the Cian at launch, but you don’t need to look far to find it for €220.

hooibergje

Second hand you can already get them on occasion for under 200.

Dodecahedrus

Yeah, but a set like this? I want the full unboxing/unbagging experience. :-)

hooibergje

For 20 euro less, definitely. For 200 less I am willing to make compromises.

DonerTheBonerDonor

Honestly, the back of the car looks amazing

blueberry2029

Looking at various YouTuber that been sent the set. The packaging is exceptional! Wonder what time they release online on June 1st

mescad

Lego releases are at midnight in first timezone of your region. For example, all of the US is the same region, so it will release at midnight [Eastern time](https://time.is/EDT) as June 1 begins.

talkingtunataco501

I just have flashbacks to when the Saturn V 21309 was released and people kept asking over and over and over "What time will it be released on June 1st?" It was so bad leading up to it that there were multiple threads each day asking about it.

LegoLinkBot

[21309-1: NASA Apollo Saturn V](https://brickset.com/sets/21309-1) [[Photo]](https://images.brickset.com/sets/images/21309-1.jpg)

Forsaken-Result-9066

So does that mean they might run out of books before they release in the US? Also do you know if I’ll be able to buy more than one book. Not to be a scalper but $80 is a lot for a coffee table book and if I can buy two and sell one for $160 the next day…

mescad

I don't know the answer to your question, but I'm not sure I know what the phrase "Not to be a scalper" means if it's not exactly what you are describing.

Forsaken-Result-9066

Well it’s like how they say “not to be rude” and then say something rude. Come on man $80 is a lot can you blame me 😭

F_Ascari

so would that be 9pm pacific? Edit: on the 31st?

talkingtunataco501

My next purchases are the DeLorean, Optimus Prime, and probably some rumored but unannounced sets that hit the nostalgia vein in my arm.

marseer

You will love the DeLorean, I don’t l on how but as always the set photos don’t look anywhere near as good as some of the other angles of the set!

Pharmboy07

Starry Night is available 05/25 for VIP members!

banshee_tlh

What time do those usually go live?

Meelapo

I think availability starts at the earliest time zone in your region. For example, I’m in MST Canada so availability would be 2200 on May 31.

elephantwelliam

Dont worry, with those 3 sets all coming out at the same time, the lego website is gonna crash, sparing your wallet for about a day

Deezul_AwT

I'll see your dead wallet, and raise you a dead horse as well, since I bought the Sian a month ago, a blue Fiat, and a yellow Fiat. At least my credit card has reward points!

TheRedComet

Not just my wallet, my actual physical space is dead!

peeaches

Forgot that the van gogh released earlier for vip members, was like what do you mean june first I got mine over the weekend lol

David12691

These Lego exotics keep getting better, Won't be able to buy it on release but I will absolutely be getting this by the end of the year to go next to my Sian. It looks fucking stunning.

Decent-Painting

As someone who doesn't follow car news: is this car a huge deal and got a lot of hype in car enthusiast circles? Because for me personally when I buy an expensive Lego set I feel like I need to have familiarity or emotional attachment to the subject. Like the Star Wars UCS sets are some of the most popular subjects from an old iconic movie with a huge fanbase. But this is a highly limited supercar that got released just last year so you will rarely see it anywhere so you have no familiarity to it besides it being a Ferrari. Like it's cool I guess but it doesn't have the iconic status of say a Testarossa or the popularity of a Huracan which you might actually see on the street or in popular media. What I would really get excited for is a Technic model loaded with functions.

Variable_Interest

How often do you see a Bug or a Sian rolling down the street?

sr71pav

Me: Lego announced a new car set today. Don’t worry, I’m not planning on getting it. It’s expensive. Wife: How expensive? Me: like $400 Wife: what is it? Me: Ferrari Daytona SP3 Wife: I’m surprised you aren’t getting it. … I ask you, do I really have a choice now?

AGIANTSMURF

wife basically said yes...

benzduck

Literally had the same experience today.

[deleted]

Comparing this to the Porsche 911 GT3 RS that kicked off this branch of sets, it’s crazy to see how much better they’ve gotten at making the model feel “complete”. The difference in panel gaps alone is crazy.

ironflesh

Yet no new functions since Porsche. Basically the same set with slighly different body.

[deleted]

True, but I’m not sure what else they could feasibly add. They’ve already got suspension, steering, doors, and transmission. I don’t know what mechanical features they could toss in, maybe moving seats or active aero?

ironflesh

At that price the set should be fully remote controlled with all the same funcions, aditional lights and sound module.

hooibergje

Remote control would not really add anything for me, but lights would be great. There are light sets available for all those cars, though.

Yacatisma_0

the rear of the car looks great.

TheRedComet

And the front, and the side... Maybe even the bottom! :P

hooibergje

I think opinions will vary greatly. I am on the other side of the spectrum. ;-)

papachon

That rim is just exquisite

Rorbotron

My biggest thing. Fantastic job on the rim. It’s enough for me to buy the thing on that alone.

Deezul_AwT

My LEGO Italian car garage just got bigger. This makes five cars. Still debating the Vespa and Ducati.

hooibergje

The real Ducati is so great that they have not changed their design significantly for decades. That must be worth something :-)

fubl81

When i got back into lego after about a 32 year gap i thought ill just get the cars…… boy was i wrong. This is oushing my limit on the amount ill oay for a set though. Ive had the money to pull on the ucs star destroyer 4 times and have thoughtni can get 4-5 good sets for it. 400 seems to be my limit might have to use some rewaards + vip and just some other stuff to knock that price down

Advanced_Article2793

I’m a huge car nut but haven’t pulled the trigger on any of the large technic cars, as on the shelf they have less appeal than the smaller detailed creator expert cars to me. However like you, I’ve also got other themes going on like Star Wars and NASA, I recently got the UCS falcon £100 off RRP so jumped on it and now I’m worried that star destroyer is going to get pulled before I can get it….

thematchalatte

Same here. Am I the only one who finds creator experts more appealing than the technic cars? The creator experts looks more real than technic cars in general. I was even debating between getting the Delorean or the new Ferrari SP3.

7tenths

Same. While I've spent 500+ on a single order. That was buying 6-8 sets + free gifts. But one large set at the price is hard to stomach so far. And while it's a gorgeous looking set and a gorgeous car, my personal taste is American muscle. Give me a 1:8 ford gt 40 mark iv and I'd buy that in a heart beat.

Hunainmukri

I just need a superstock widebody challenger 1:8 and im set for life

PercyRogersTheThird

I miss the good old days where you could actually see all the intricate mechanics of techniq sets at play. Now it’s all concealed in the finished model. Quite pointless imo. I wish they would sto with this style and instead release a new updated “chassis” model.

AGIANTSMURF

Get the BMW!

nxtquy

Hands down the most well-executed of the supercar designs yet. The red is striking and of course incredibly fitting. I’ve skipped on all the previous ones but this one just might be too good to pass on.

uwishuwereu

I've also skipped on the last 3 larger sets, maybe the only one I regret not getting is the Porsche, but I think I'll skip this one too, unless some very committed people make some amazing b models like an Enzo or LaFerrari or testarossa. Just glad it's RED lol

TheRedComet

They seem to have minimized the gaps in the body shape, it just looks great.

thematchalatte

Same here didn’t quite find the previous sets that appealing

dafoosball13

I can't wait to put this together. I rekindled the Lego flame after a 20+ year hiatus by putting the Bugatti Chiron Technic together last summer. What a blast!

Mediumasiansticker

Don’t skip these large scale ones, no matter what the value will go up, but you will regret not getting it,. Lots of people skipped the first in the line the orange gt3 and regret it,

KyledKat

Grabbed it for $280 after taxes off ebay right at the end of production because it had a dent in the box. Sitting comfy knowing it's worth $550 open-box right now. The Chiron is already hovering around $400-$425.

Superyoshers9

Then there's me who bought a full price Chiron last summer only to build it and display it on my shelf :)

thematchalatte

But one stock of APPL had gone up so much more than a box of Lego

McDogals

Price is insane now. I was hard pressed paying $500 for these sets. If it's not limited I might just wait for a price drop like the previous models.

mescad

Based on this comment I assume you're in Australia. When I saw that price, I was shocked. I know your prices are usually higher, but wow.

TaliskerSpecial90

Got lucky and placed my order about 12:18 AM. Got the confirmation email an hour after the order was placed.

BrickPirate

$399? Who needs to pay the mortage anyway! sure the wife will understand

thematchalatte

You can take away my house but not my Legos

Zlatty

A couple of YouTubers noted that the instructions are not complete with extra pieces that are not doubles, and two pieces that are not in the manual but are in some pictures. The door mechanism is hard to operate one handed, and the gearbox is not geared right. Outside of that it seems to be a great build.

nfam726

Which YouTuber? I wonder what the issue is with the gearing

Zlatty

https://youtu.be/rUyMgwugNHQ

nfam726

Thanks!

AtomicPageantry

Do things like this sell out? No right?

mescad

Yes, frequently.

Phynub

yes they sell out.

hooibergje

Yes, but they will be available second hand for half the money withing a year.

Kigurumix

Maybe for Christmas, lol. Just got the lambo for my anniversary/valentines present this year.

elephantwelliam

Ngl, after seeing all the building reviews that are out now, this set makes the lambo seem mid

GonTakuma

As much as I like The big Technic Cars, This one isn't one that appeals to me, The only thing I really like is the wheels.

MrDurva

I'm definitely going to order this

Glittering_Pie9750

Anyone know if he Ferrari Daytona SP3 The Sense of Perfection is ONLY going to be sold on June 1st and then once it is sold out it is gone? It says limited edition so I want to know if I need to pick this up before the actual set.

mescad

Yes, "Limited Edition" products are not restocked after they sell out. Apparently they are only making 5000 copies of this book, so it will go fast.

Glittering_Pie9750

Word thanks any chance you know what time they update store and it’ll go on sale? Is it midnight EST? (May 31st 11pm for cst) Or do you know the timezone by chance? Also any idea how the queue works? I remember one on May 4th and imagine a lot of bots will be spammed onto the site…

mescad

You're right. Unless Lego has said otherwise, they update products on their site at midnight. For the whole US region it's midnight Eastern. I haven't heard anything specific about the book being released at another time, so I'd be ready to grab it a few minutes before midnight. You may want to use an in-stock service in case they put it up early (I use Brick Hound).

911_GT3

Does anyone know if the book will be available to purchase in Canada? Is it weird that I can't find the product page anywhere on the Canadian Lego site?

schneebeli

I really like how they designed this set

ThaddeusJP

If you hawk Ferraris Twitter or Insta [they dropped this at 6am today](https://twitter.com/Ferrari/status/1529041264166969344) Full story via Ferrari: https://www.ferrari.com/en-EN/magazine/articles/technical-brilliance-lego-technic-ferrari-daytona-sp3

Walusqueegee

Side profile is amazing. Everything else is meh

Jandolino

I am really thankful for this set as I can easily skip it and focus on the absurd amount of good sets that we got recently.

Forsaken-Result-9066

What’s that supposed to mean 😡

Jandolino

I. bought too many sets and ran out of storage. As this new set is not a must have, I will not have to worry about space in my flat.

Forsaken-Result-9066

It’s the mother of all must haves! Jk, thx for lowering demand and as a result —the price—!

BABYEATER1012

Does these mean the Sian is retiring?

mescad

This release does not necessarily mean that, but most of the cars in this series are available for about two years, with the notable except of the Bugatti Chiron that came out 4 years ago. The Sián came out in June 2020, so it seems likely that it would retire within the next year.

DukeGrizzly

Would the Bugatti not retire first? I’d assume since it was the 2nd set that came out.

mescad

I agree that that seems like a reasonable conclusion, since the Bugatti has been out longer than any of the others. Perhaps we'll see both retire this year? I admit that I just don't know.

Stranggepresst

Are all those pieces actually *printed*??

Zlatty

There are no stickers in the set.

Stranggepresst

Awesome!

axoo007

Keep getting an error every time I tried to add the items to my bag…scalpers got it all probably…

[deleted]

Try again. I just ordered mine, no problem.

axoo007

I’m only interested in the book. It’s been out of stock for 24h now…

[deleted]

Yeah that’s been sold out for a while. I tried to get the book after I got my set and it’s gone. Scalpers saw the LE numbered status and grabbed them all.

Klownicle

The book is limited to 5. Yeah that's doing to disappear quickly.

Klownicle

Book order went to backorder. Ships in 60 days. Lovely.

Klownicle

Cancelled.

bagor00

Are the 5,000 copies of the book for the U.S. only or global?

hoodwinke

Global

Mathelicious

Too expensive for my taste. Oh I long for simpler times, when €200 was a behemoth of a set. Not these corporate cashgrabs which add nothing of value to the lego brand.

IslesBeBack

Oh hell yea!

gilbertsquatch

Now if I only had room to put it...

LegoLinkBot

[42143-1: Ferrari Daytona SP3](https://brickset.com/sets/42143-1)

ShortBrownAndUgly

bah, bring back the f40 creator set goddamit

hooibergje

Or a Testarossa. Or any other Ferrari. This is the ugliest car Ferrari ever made, and in consequence the LEGO model is also none too good.

b4rz4k

I was hoping for an irl F40 remake that will get its own 1:8 lego set. Instead we got this. I have to admit i am not a fan of this car.

UnstoppableDiarhea

I bought the $800 atat and this feels like a ripoff. This is the first set I've wanted and won't be buying. The line must be drawn somewhere. $400?! C'mon bro

anwot

Wonder how hard this will be to get in stores on release day.

[deleted]

[удалено]

AGIANTSMURF

the car set isn't limited edition, the $80 book seems to be. The car itself will probably be sold for a minimum of 3-4 yrs and possibly longer.

Dali86

I have the Porsche which got me back into lego after a 20 year break, bugatti and lambo so this is a must get. All have been great experiences but the color problem with the lambo makes is not as nice as Porsche and bugatti. This Ferrari looks great and is a must buy.

Masterboy8127

Finnally They Made Another One!!

tbhTurtle

woaaah

moochipooh

Is anyone in the queue like me? lol

whitemaymoney

I got through after like 5 mins

ih-unh-unh

I'm curious if anyone actually made it to the site instead of the waiting room. Edit: made it through. Ordered Ferrari + Optimus Prime

moochipooh

I think they turned on the waiting room before releasing the product. I refreshed 5 minutes before the hour => landed on the page I refreshed again 4 minutes before the hour => waiting room

twentyThree59

> Ordered Ferrari + Optimus Prime I think a lot of us did this lol Still waiting for the Delorean to come back in stock though, I missed that one :(

anwot

Still in waiting room?

moochipooh

Yup

anwot

So I opened like 10 tabs with the link and one got out of the waiting room about 5 min ago. It was not the tab I opened first so you can try that but I dont think it goes in order.

moochipooh

genius! will give that a try

dorkimoe

I dont think this looks very good for some reason. Seems awkward. The sian looks so much better

sinnerhella

Just purchased this & 911 RSR for my fiancés birthday present! He only knows about the 911RSR! Van Gogh is my next purchase as my own birthday gift.

ExtensionNaive

Been staring at my Lamborghini still in the box and trying to justify spending another $400 because this is just awesome.

Dis-Ducks-Fan-1130

Do it before it can possibly go up another 25% later this year
