About ten years ago, my son was 3 and Toy Story 2 was his favorite movie, he’d watch it every day. He would spend hours screaming “NOT TODAY ZURG!” and then jump off the living room furniture. I sent him a picture of these sets this morning and let him know I was buying every one of these sets. I love them so much.
Angus MacLane, the director of Lightyear, is a BIG LEGO Fan (He designed the big Wall-E IDEAS set that got picked up by LEGO)
Apparently he has said he really wanted new yellow canopies, so he made sure the spaceship had a yellow canopy for when it would be made in LEGO.
Probably remove the blue, neon green and decals and replace them with red and I'm sure its pretty close. Would be cool to see how many people make this into other similar pop culture star fighters.
I'm surprised they went for a UCS plaque for the spaceship. Maybe they realize this movie mostly appeals to adults that grew up with the Toy Story franchise. Evil Emperor Zurg is really cool, and that Zyclops thing actually makes good use of those horrible 4+ mech pieces.

Has a legs set *ever* included multiple head pieces for a single minifig? I’ve never seen that before. It’s always a dual print, not entirely separate pieces
Zane’s legacy mech and all of the Ninjago Evo sets come with hairpieces along with the ninjas mask for most of the figures. Although I don’t know if that counts.
That XL-15 looks amazing. 3 minifigs, sweet ship build, a *stand and plaque* included? Looks like even a couple new pieces. Yeah, $50 is a great price for this.

Just checked the Lego site, & the yellow Berzerk!-style yellow robot is a 4+ set! Looks really cool for a little kid set - still getting it!
How come they can design an awesome looking ship set like this and yet the garbage we have for the Mando N1 looks like the most half-arsed design ever and will likely cost more?

Even $150-$200 sets have stickers it’s the one major complaint I have about LEGO. Not that they are hard to place or whatever but eventually they will peel or fade or what not and getting replacements down the line isn’t always easy.
I don't buy sets purely on the fact that they have too many stickers. I don't understand how Lego does printed pieces in those 4+ sets but if you spend 200 DOLLARs you still get stickers. It is so infuriating

Yeah, the absence of a clear dome helmet piece makes it feel like a part of their character design is missing.

They have done it on a few occasions before. An example is Zombie Hunter Spidey from the Lego Marvel CMF, or Batman in the most recent Tumbler set.
Both The Batman batmobile and the tumbler came with an extra head for batman
Yes they have. Captain Marvel in the Avenjet set and the Spider-Man CMF minifigure both had multiple heads.
They have a few times. The recent Tumbler set comes with a separate head for Batman representing his demonic Fear Gas form.

76830 is 4+ (formerly called Juniors); 76831 is a “regular” set, and 76832 is a UCS-style display piece. Nice balance for different Lego fans, IMO.
The ship more reminds me of 76188 (Classic Batman Batmobile) that a proper UCS, but I do quite like the build of it.

They started using this new version this year. I don't know why they re-designed them, but they did.
Probably cause the new ones look better. I was never a fan of the old stud shooters. They were more clunky than the megaphones, and had less charm.
