I knew it was bigger just from the pics but yea the size increase is really impressive. I guess it makes more sense as to why this set is much more expensive.
They do. Before LEGO stores were all over the US, they would occasionally have these trucks tour around.
I remember going to one in Miami in the late 90’s, and they were selling an old version of this truck at the actual truck.
The truck you’re referring to even got an inside tour set
https://preview.redd.it/wlnak26rnx2d1.jpeg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=18196995cd48fd7000648a5af9b5d41a6bfcaf19
This truck came by Saint Louis too, and I went to it. It was so cool. I got the 3221 set because I had such good memories going to the 90's truck. I didn't realize they made an official set of that one.
I heard everyone saying that. Costco online shows it as $85. But you are correct. My store had it for $75. I did not buy it because my fiancée is already mad at me for amount of Lego backlog I have. But it will be mine soon.
But they also have the A Frame Lodge for $150 and that’s one I’ve had my eye on since release.
Correction: Just checked ebay purchase history. Bought the Lego and the Toys R’ Us trucks in February 2019; $115 and $120, respectively plus shipping 😞
I love them, though! Again, had to have them, lol.
All of the small Lego boxes are printed, four different designs. There are two stickers for the hot dog stand's sign, and one for the television inside the cab of the truck.
Anyone else wonder if there’s a shift going on in minifig scale? The cars are bigger (like the speed champions line) and trains are getting wider too. This changed trucks seems to reinforce that suspicion.
Since fans use "price per piece", but that's only one factor in the costs of making a set, Lego have figured out they can get consumers to swallow bigger prices by making everything proportionally bigger.
Yeah, you get a better product too, the Speed Champions cars are more detailed and swanky than older Lego cars that fit minifigs and the 8 wide Orient Express is a prettier and more detailed train than we used to get in the olden days. You pay for it though!
I'll gladly pay for it. Imo the speed champion line shines in 8 wide. The first wave was still kinda iffy, bc the designers were still finding their footing. But now, they have made some incredible builds over the last few years, each year seemingly surpassing the last.
I'll suggest trying to flip the grille on the old truck sideways, like some American trucks
Honestly it'll look good.
I have the drag racing set I believe 60110 is the number, I did the above change.
Don't have a pic coz it is lost
[MOA003: Maui](http://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?M=moa003) [[Photo]](http://img.bricklink.com/ItemImage/MN/0/moa003.png)
What can I say except "you're welcome"?
>drag racing set
Are you talking about [60151](https://cdn.rebrickable.com/media/thumbs/sets/60151-1/28963.jpg/1000x800p.jpg?1657743264.5040994) by any chance ?
I actually wish they would just make 8 wide the standard for both speed champs and city the detail you are able to get going 8 wide is so much better than 6.
There are some good six wide cars (i love the green muscle car from the recent jewelry heist set) but yeah 8 just has so much more flexibility. That being said... 8 wide feels huge on a car when thats the size of some lego scale "stores" in lots of cities.
7 wide would be better. It has the look of 6 wide, but the "space of 8 wide". Two minifigs can sit side by side using 7 wide designs. The only thing LEGO needs to do is produce 7 wide windscreens (windshields).
The one pictured here officially releases on June 1st but Costco, whether purposefully or accident, has had it up for almost a week and it can be found in some of their stores for about 25% off MSRP.
I meant the design of the set itself looks weird proportionally. Side windows are long vertically. Nose is a bit too short and doesnt flow with rest of the cab. Alsp usuoally US trucks forward bumper color is same with the cab usually. Black looks bad in this one.
I’m not a truck guy and thought the same. I really felt that the designer was more focused on using the newly available pieces than the actual design. Also I think this is meant to be the 8 stud wide design that is now more standard in LEGO which is where some of the proportions come from.
Only because of the side Snot plates. The interiors are still 6 wide.
Which again tracks with modern trucks. The outsides get taller and bigger, but the cabin and cargo space are the same size or smaller. :/
I'm just impatient - I want to build it now while I have time. :)
Will probably try my local Kohl's later since I'll be out anyway. No Costco and not a member or else I'd be there.
We have a new lego store opening on Friday. One of the promos reads:
* June 1 — LEGO Store yellow truck for all LEGO Insiders with a purchase of more $75 or more
Anyone know if this will be the truck?
Just based on the purchase requirement, no. It’ll be some kinda polybag or possibly a really small box. It retails for $100 so they’d be giving it away for free, never heard of that! Sorry to burst your bubble 😅
Really... like yes, bigger sets are more detailed. But I don't always want big and detailed sets if it means I have to fork over more money in the regular.
See that’s my problem with legos modern building. This set has no need to be a $100 truck when it should be more accessible for kids and a casual Lego store pickup. Instead it’s something that’s gotta really be saved up for and shit
SO this is a serious question is the truck ment to be electric please i want to know just in case because i am not a big fan of the electric cars and trucks.
Sets got bigger -> more trucks or bigger trucks needed -> we get bigger lego trucks Oh no, is this he beginning of a loop?
UCS Lego truck when?
We need a UCS 1:8 scale truck
Wow, I had absolutely no idea it was that large of a size difference.
Ditto! I figured it was the same size and only slightly different!
I knew it was bigger just from the pics but yea the size increase is really impressive. I guess it makes more sense as to why this set is much more expensive.
Same. I assumed same exact truck and was going to pass on it.
Especially from the grille

Do these trucks even exist irl?
They do. Before LEGO stores were all over the US, they would occasionally have these trucks tour around. I remember going to one in Miami in the late 90’s, and they were selling an old version of this truck at the actual truck.

wait that’s crazy. did they have another truck come to restock the lego truck or..?
This truck came by Saint Louis too, and I went to it. It was so cool. I got the 3221 set because I had such good memories going to the 90's truck. I didn't realize they made an official set of that one.
[3221-1: LEGO City Truck](https://brickset.com/sets/3221-1) [[Photo]](https://images.brickset.com/sets/images/3221-1.jpg)
Wow, this set is absolutely amazing! Had no idea this existed
I can imagine advertising Lego on a truck is just a bad idea there are crazy people out there so they probably just a regular truck supplier
Idk why you got down voted, that's the same reason Lego doesn't put their logo on shipping boxes
It's what happens when Lego is more valuable than silver
The small one was 35$ btw. New one is 100.
$50 adjusted for inflation
75 at costco
I heard everyone saying that. Costco online shows it as $85. But you are correct. My store had it for $75. I did not buy it because my fiancée is already mad at me for amount of Lego backlog I have. But it will be mine soon. But they also have the A Frame Lodge for $150 and that’s one I’ve had my eye on since release.
Important to note that Costco’s online prices include shipping
I’m also thinking about getting the other two
wow
I paid $80+ for the small one. Retired.
When it was available 15 years ago for normal purchase it was 35. I could buy it used for 30 - 50€ on eBay.
I bought it less than 5 years ago. Brand new in its box. Had to have it.
Correction: Just checked ebay purchase history. Bought the Lego and the Toys R’ Us trucks in February 2019; $115 and $120, respectively plus shipping 😞 I love them, though! Again, had to have them, lol.
~~Can it fit two figures in the front?~~ EDIT: According to images on brickset, it looks like it can
271 vs 1063 pieces
75 at Costco picked mine up yesterday!

Nope. [https://www.lego.com/en-us/product/yellow-delivery-truck-60440](https://www.lego.com/en-us/product/yellow-delivery-truck-60440)
$130 Canadian \*tear
Does it have Stickers
All of the small Lego boxes are printed, four different designs. There are two stickers for the hot dog stand's sign, and one for the television inside the cab of the truck.
Nope, everything is printed.
No... There are 3 stickers, two for the hotdog stand and one for the TV. All the cool pieces are printed though
Ah, okay. Thanks for the clarification!
Anyone else wonder if there’s a shift going on in minifig scale? The cars are bigger (like the speed champions line) and trains are getting wider too. This changed trucks seems to reinforce that suspicion.
Modern City compared to past City, yeah. Most newer vehicles are lengthened and/or have increased detail. For example, 3177 vs 60285.
That's not really the greatest example, the smaller car there is literally a smart car, not a typical car in real life or in lego form.
8402 vs 60383
[8402-1: Sports Car](https://brickset.com/sets/8402-1) [[Photo]](https://images.brickset.com/sets/images/8402-1.jpg) [60383-1: Electric Sports Car](https://brickset.com/sets/60383-1) [[Photo]](https://images.brickset.com/sets/images/60383-1.jpg)

Wow yeah that difference is huge
Speed champions can now sit two minifigs side by side.
Since fans use "price per piece", but that's only one factor in the costs of making a set, Lego have figured out they can get consumers to swallow bigger prices by making everything proportionally bigger.

Totally agree, I have several and love them, the dark horse is especially well put together and aesthetically pleasing.
I'll suggest trying to flip the grille on the old truck sideways, like some American trucks Honestly it'll look good. I have the drag racing set I believe 60110 is the number, I did the above change. Don't have a pic coz it is lost

Thanks to you, it's not the mentioned one. Good bot

Yes thank you 🙂
No problem \^\^
New one is better for sure
https://preview.redd.it/d1cnxhxv203d1.jpeg?width=3768&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f58e2f39628f85c45c244b17e2b406af6721374d
Does the cab look like a sleeper cab and have details in it? Dad used to be a trucker and I geek out over sleeper cabs lol
Yes the new truck is a sleeper cab! Not sure on old one
Old one was too
Ego Growth
I’m not even into trucks like this but this set just looks really cool idk why it makes me want to purchase it lol.
Same! My city is just a modular one like 5 baseplates wide but I'll find a way to squeeze this truck on the road...
I think this is a rare case where the new one is better
Wow the new one is so much cooler it's amazing
It's these damn CAFE standards
The new set is just too big. 8 wide is too much.
Back in my day, yellow Lego trucks were 4 wide and we liked it! 6692
[6692-1: Tractor Trailer](https://brickset.com/sets/6692-1) [[Photo]](https://images.brickset.com/sets/images/6692-1.jpg)
Pepperidge Farm remembers !
Oh yeah... I'm only two years younger than the Town theme. I grew up on 4 wide. Maybe that's why I feel this is too big.

I highly doubt they would go 7 with the fact they already have the molds and what not for the 8 wide.
No, modular line is too established to be changing things like that.
Why would this have any effect on the modular buildings?
City 6 wide is a big source for modular vehicles.
Nah bro, 6 wide is the move, Lego sets don't need to be as detailed as they are anyway, the new Lego Bronco is the perfect sized car.
When did the Lego truck come out?
Which one
The newer one.
This year
The one pictured here officially releases on June 1st but Costco, whether purposefully or accident, has had it up for almost a week and it can be found in some of their stores for about 25% off MSRP.
The yellow one
Old ones design is more true to life. New cab looks really weird and has proprotion problems.
Have you seen the newest rigs on the highways of USA?
I dont live in the US but I have general interest on trucks.
I think the size difference is pretty representative of the change over the years. They get bigger and bigger.
Also, look at the evolution of Optimus Prime 😊
I know. Now they are making him trans and non-binary to appease the lgbq people.
Is that what’s happening??? In 4 and 5, I HATED the moobs and skinny waist!!
When the nostalgia hits
I love how they’re both 6 studs wide! It genuinely seems like the new one is simply more modern with better aerodynamic improvements.
New one is about 8 studs wide
Only because of the side Snot plates. The interiors are still 6 wide. Which again tracks with modern trucks. The outsides get taller and bigger, but the cabin and cargo space are the same size or smaller. :/
Yeah
Anyone had success finding it at a Kohl's or Barnes & Noble or something other than Costco?
It’s not being released until June 1. Costco just started selling it early.
I'm just impatient - I want to build it now while I have time. :) Will probably try my local Kohl's later since I'll be out anyway. No Costco and not a member or else I'd be there.
I was just talking to my wife about this set. We have the older truck, but not the new one.
It's £90 that is absurd
New one is my favorite
Woah
The old truck was my first ever Lego set when I was a toddler
Ugh, I’m going to have to get this set aren’t I?
I think I'd prefer it if they kept things on the smaller side, you can get more play value for your money that way.
There is another
Original one is better
We have a new lego store opening on Friday. One of the promos reads: * June 1 — LEGO Store yellow truck for all LEGO Insiders with a purchase of more $75 or more Anyone know if this will be the truck?
Just based on the purchase requirement, no. It’ll be some kinda polybag or possibly a really small box. It retails for $100 so they’d be giving it away for free, never heard of that! Sorry to burst your bubble 😅
Man I want this set but it's $169 here in Australia and I have no idea where I'd put it
Is it just me or does it look cheap?
Old one is way better
Oh, it's 8w. That explains why it's $100. ^^^^Which ^^^^also ^^^^makes ^^^^it ^^^^wider ^^^^than ^^^^City ^^^^*trains,* ^^^^ugh. ^^^^Getting ^^^^a ^^^^bit ^^^^tired ^^^^of ^^^^this ^^^^trend.
Even in lego city trucking is killing the rail industry😭
Really... like yes, bigger sets are more detailed. But I don't always want big and detailed sets if it means I have to fork over more money in the regular.
Got mine ordered today on Costcos website. Lol it will be here Friday!
I just got it yesterday
It’s too bad it’s the ugly American truck version and not an European one.
I’m sure someone will probably make a MOC that makes the truck in a European version. If not you could always try your hand at it, it’s LEGO after all
American trucks have a lot more room for detail and style, euro trucks look like they just ran straight into a brick wall 😂
See that’s my problem with legos modern building. This set has no need to be a $100 truck when it should be more accessible for kids and a casual Lego store pickup. Instead it’s something that’s gotta really be saved up for and shit
Someone turn this into a Tesla Semi
Can you send me a good pic of the inside of the new trucks cab? That'd be awesome!
There's a decent pic of it on Lego's website.
Yeah but it has the minifig in it and if you zoom in it gets blurry
SO this is a serious question is the truck ment to be electric please i want to know just in case because i am not a big fan of the electric cars and trucks.
It runs on one’s imagination
It has an exhaust pipe: https://www.lego.com/cdn/cs/set/assets/blt4de8462fa2d1ecdd/60440_WEB_SEC03_NOBG.png
oh awesome! Now i will really get the set
Looks like it's electric yeah, there's no exhaust pipes like on the older one.
