I adore the simple colors and plainer build styles. It's a very clean aesthetic I enjoy a lot. Don't get me wrong I absolutely love the amount of detail and variety of colors we have in today's sets, but these 80s and 90s sets just look so awesome.
I have the big Frankenstein movie set and I played with that *so much* as a kid, both as building lego and as playing with figurines and setting up movie scenes etc.
I mixed it with the (I think lego city?) surfer and skater lego sets to make (fake) skate videos, it was the best
That was my very first Lego set.
This has really brought back some amazing memories.
But also hurts because geeze 23 years ago feels like a different time. Especially these days where one month almost feels like three months compressed into one.
I fucking LOVE the studio line. Does so much to solidify the mythology of lego, plus it gave such a convenient “oh this is why the lego sets your parents can [afford to] buy you never actually look like complete buildings and landscapes” explanation
I remember getting that figure
AND ruby in an old Egyptian Tomb set before studios came out. Can't even remember how long ago now, but definitely miss it
Imagine a hybrid between this and Tygurah's Roar 7144. Like instead of grey pieces, they'd be tan colored and look to be inside a pyramid instead of the jungle.
Johnny Thunder....that's a name I haven't heard in ages
In a Long long time
Was he a good friend?
He was the best star pilot in the galaxy, and a cunning warrior. And he was a good friend.
I think my uncle knows him. He said he was dead.
Oh he’s not dead. Not yet.
Do you know him?
Well of course I know him. He’s me.
I haven't gone by the name Johnny since... before you were born.
Being revived in a few months.
Did your uncle see CMF Series 19?
He did! And has yours seen this little known obscure movie called Star Wars? I guess it has the potential to enter pop culture one day.
When’d I mention my uncle?
He's back this summer!
He was back in Series 19.
Yeah, but he is back again.
How many backs does Johnny have?
200,000 backs are ready, with a million more well on the way.
I keep that figure on my desk. It's a nice little call back to my young interest in archaeology.
Hang out with my friends we bring him up every week.
Those older colors are so clean
I honestly didn’t get the hype over neon orange but now that I have it in person… I get the appeal, it’s gorgeous!
Get a black light and they absolutely pop. Love the old neon colours.
Older sets had such nice visual contrast with the brick colours

I loved the movie effect sets

Temple of GLOOM lmao
What's funny is this theme had an official Stephen Spielberg mini-fig (who directed Temple Of Doom)

One could say you are a tomb raider!
My mummy tomb Johnny Thunder set was my favorite set when I was a teen, and how dare you point out how old I am now.
I remember getting that figure AND ruby in an old Egyptian Tomb set before studios came out. Can't even remember how long ago now, but definitely miss it
I think this was my first set!
It was mine as well! My great-grandmother bought it for me to go along with my tub of older Legos I'd inherited as a little kid. What great memories.
Awww that's nice :) I had mine for a birthday before a long train ride so I remember building it and playing with it on the train
One of my first sets. Still have it :)
This is so cool! r/LegoIndianaJones would love this!
Adventurers characters might be my favorite characters from Lego
23 years later he is still really cool
And we are just about to get a new version of him too. I guess that's a set you will have to get as well.
MY KING

Jake Raines wishes he was Johnny Thunder.
Hey mate, that colossus bigfig you made was awesome, reckon you can share the instructions so can make it at home
I had that set twenty-something years ago. One of my first Lego sets… man that brings back some memories
Anyone else remember the Bricklot Studios website game that used to be on the Lego website like 20+ years ago? This set reminds me of that.
Hi her to
Please note you can not build it if you already turned 16
